Hadn’t been to Dannys in 20 years. Husband and I went there for the Chateaubriand. Online price was $ 15 less than on the menu. Brought it to waiters attention and we got it for the lesser price. The pear and gorgon zola salad was delicious. The steak was cooked the way we ordered it. Our only complaint is the garlic mashed potatoes. They were not mashed, more like whipped and over whipped. They had the consistency of paste. Recipe needs to be changed. The hazelnut gelatin was excellent. Other then the potatoes we would go back. Pricey

Drinks are good and the atmosphere is nice and workers are friendly. Food is okay if you get basic things like chicken wings. Sushi and pies were not impressive.

Danny’s has the distinct honor of having my favorite sushi roll in the area(maybe anywhere), which for a steakhouse is pretty impressive. Chef Ken’s lime roll(tuna) for the win.

Solid place for boozy lunch, or as they call it, the Mad Men Lunch. A martini or glass of wine, soup or salad, and either a sandwich, wrap or pasta all for $ 15. Can’t beat it. My coworker and I like to go on Fridays sometimes since we work across the street. We also go for happy hour, which is also great for the price and quality. Crab bisque is a must try and I’m not even a big soup person. Penne vodka and BLT wrap are what I’ve tried so far for lunch and both were great. Best happy hour app choices are the meatballs and sweet spicy shrimp. The thin crust pizza is also delicious. I have not had any of the dry aged steak there yet, but will sooner or later, I’m confident it will be good.

Danny’s is as close to a restaurant institution in the Red Bank area as you are likely to find. You might be inclined to think that means the restaurant is a stodgy meat and potatoes steak house, but you’d be wrong. It has survived all these years because it is able to stay true to its roots and accommodate contemporary and ever changing tastes. Where else can you find a restaurant that offers both gluten free and paleo options in addition to sushi and an excellent quesadilla? If you are foodie, this place is not for you. But if you are looking for a friendly and inviting neighborhood restaurant that offers a menu with something for everyone, then Danny’s is a place you really ought to try,

I love this place, I’ve been for dinner and lunch! My lunch favorite is the salmon wrap with steak fries! After 5pm they have a lot of sushi options! There usually some oldie but goodie tunes playing and the environment is relaxed! For dinner, I order salmon with spinach, I enjoyed it but next time I will definitely have to try the sushi. I have also had the veggie burger and it was really good. This place is awesome with friends or solo, they have a nice happy hour menu! I usually go about 1 a week! Danny is usually there, smiling and checking on the guest, this is a cool place!

Our first Danny’s Restaurant visit was simply sublime. Jen, our top notch server, addressed our every dining experience need, she treated us like gold. Sitting at the Danny’s bar, my husband & I soon became fast friends with Danny. He is not only a gentleman but a man who knows how to run a quality food establishment. Now to the 5 ***** Star cusine we indulged in ! Sweet & spicey shrimp chili aioli * cucumber lime slaw… simply magnificent! A MUST! PEARSANDGORGONZOLA Salad … Perfecto! RIGATONIBOLOGNESE… A true winner! STEAKBLEUHORSERADISHWRAP caramelized onions * grilled mushroom * green peppers * avocado * bleu cheese horseradish sauce That’s a wrap! … We would get it again, as all the above! Thanks again Danny & Jen for a good time. See y’all soon…

Just went for there Tuesday $ 18 burger night. It comes with a salad, burger of choice and wine or beer. Great deal!

First timers at Danny’s, we sat at the bar. Bartenders very friendly and accommodating(plus they make great drinks). Servers also very good, she had a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and I had an AK-47 sushi roll. Very enjoyable experience.

Bartenders are great– the«chef» constantly cones out of the kitchen to hang out & chat with guests… He’s got no reason to do so especially at happy hour on a Friday night. He heard me complain about my appetizer because he was just sitting there doing nothing and continued to do nothing to fix it. Get in the kitchen and cook you’re not Mario Batali you’re a cook at a steakhouse. Period.

Love Danny’s as much we as Danny himself. Started going their as it’s a hard core Stealers bar during football season. The burgers are the best in the area. Check their website for specials such as burger night and half price bottles if wine night. Nice crowd at the bar.

Being one of the only real steak houses in the area, Danny’s is incredibly disappointing. It has so much potential which is the sad part. It is also pricey for what you get. To put it in perspective, I paid as much for this crappy meal as I paid for an absolutely incredible meal at Salt Creek Grille in Rumson. Get a chef who knows how to cook a steak and a waitress who knows to serve water with dinner(still waiting). Would also be nice if she stopped by the table once between taking our order and giving us the check.

I just left there for the second time tonight only to realize that they messed up not only one, but two of our orders. I placed an order for takeout containing 1HONEYROASTEDPECAN Salad with NO Gorgonzola and 1PECANCRUSTEDGOATCHEESE Salad, dressing on the side for both. When I got home, the first thing we noticed is that the first salad contained Gorgonzola, so we called right away, drove back and received a new one(dressing on it). Just got back home again only to discover that now my salad is missing the goat cheese. Safe to say I will not be going back tonight, or for a while. I’m disappointed because the food is delicious, and I don’t know whether this is hostess or kitchen error, but they are careless mistakes. I’ve also had a bad experience with poor service while dining-in in the past.

For starters I ordered a burger on they’re burger night. Asked for rare. From a steakhouse I have high expectations for a rare burger. It came out well done. Couldn’t get the bartenders attention until I was already half done. He insisted on having another one cooked. I tried refusing but he said he would put it in regardless I waited another 15 min and the next one that came out was seared quickly but absolute mush in the middle… However it was brown all the way through. I don’t know if the meat is old or what they do to it but both burgers were nearly inedible. Came another time with my in laws. we sat at our table for a long time before we just got up and left. Horrible service. PS Don’t bother with the sushi either.

I visited Danny’s on New Year’s Eve. I had a reservation but I arrived early and the hostesses were very accommodating. We were seated right away without any problem. Our server, Julia, was very pleasant and welcoming. The bar area is separated from the elegant dining area. The food was excellent and affordable. To start, my girlfriend and I split a full order of the pecan and pear salad. It was delicious. The soft texture and sweetness of the pears contrasted well with the crunchiness of the pecans and tangy flavor of the vinegar in the salad dressing. I ordered the scallops as my entrée. They were cooked well and not chewy at all. The serving size of 4 scallops looked small at first but filled me up once I realized that the scallops were pretty large. They were served on a bed of orzo with dried tomatoes. My girlfriend ordered the filet mignon which was cooked to perfection. The seasoning was subtle and was possibly just S&P which is all you need sometimes. For dessert we ordered a holiday special, the egg nog cheesecake with cranberry. Before ordering I was concerned if the egg nog flavor would be too overpowering, since I only like a cup or two to get the taste during the holidays. Luckily, the eggnog flavor was well balanced and you were still able to get the traditional cheesecake flavor too. A nice way to end the evening and stay in holiday spirit! If you’re in town for a show at the Two River Theater, Danny’s is a great choice. I have already recommended Danny’s to my parents as potential dinner spot for an upcoming concert.

We hadn’t been here in years and were looking forward to trying it since its reinvention from a pasta/pizza place to a steak/sushi bar. Unfortunately it was a disappointing dining experience overall. High prices, mediocre food, and poor service. My $ 29 filet mignon ordered medium rare was raw in the center. Garlic mashed potatoes had no garlic taste and were cold. My mother’s filet mignon was cold as was the waitress who seemed totally disinterested and was non-existent throughout the meal. Wrong side dishes served, i.e. sweet potato fries delivered instead of steak fries. Waitress had to be asked twice for butter and never asked if we wanted another round of drinks so we had to ask. You’d think they’d want to sell a few more glasses of wine. Definitely will not be returning.
