old school that closed eons ago, great facility that is well kept and clean, two huge fields have a lot of organized sports so it’s crowded during these events but plenty of parking. this park also has two nice paddle tennis courts w/an enclosed playground for kids… this place is surrounded by hiking trails, a canyon cliff wall to an ocean view. it’s at the peak of a neighborhood so it’s secluded enough.

So I’m watching the AYSO playoffs and realize what a beautiful park this is. Great breeze and awesome views. The field is a little muddy but I guess that comes with the territory. Everything here slides at some point or another. The fields are well kept. I’m curious why such a beautiful park has nasty port-a-potty’s for bathrooms. Minus 1 star for that!

Great park for organized sports. The grounds are kept up very well. This park is large and has multiple sections so if you’re going there for a game, arrive with plenty of time to figure out the layout.

Stephen’s niece is on a soccer team and they play their tournaments on weekends. Located off PV Drive and up this hidden street is this park. The location is beautiful(if you stand up and look at the ocean, that is) but otherwise its a barren park made just for soccer, lacrosse or such. If there’s more to this park, I guess I didn’t see it. There’s 2 park levels, and I guess we lucked out and got the upper level. The lower level looked like a baseball field? I didn’t really look down or venture down to see. Parking, at least close parking, is only for the lucky ones. Its primarily street parking. Unless you are the first game of the day, you’ll be parking about ¼ of a mile away and hiking it down the hill. If you are the second game, its better to wait until the first game lets out, then go… unless you have to drop off your kid early. I guess I’m not a fan of outdoor organized sports. The toilet is a far hike, the fields are a hike, and its BYO chairs. Too bad they couldn’t splurge and set up some bleachers. Its not like RPV is a poverty stricken city. There’s no snack shack, which would be ideal so that the teams can make some money. For a «community» park, there’s something missing. Also no dogs allowed, although I two people ignore the sign, as it didn’t apply to them. Not a fan.

Beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. But don’t plan to have a nice, contemplative quiet time. There is a sports field in the park. When I went on a beautiful Sunday morning about 8am, cars were zooming in, parking along the street, yelling at their friends, playing loud music. Totally killed my buzz. The stars are only for the view. I won’t be back.

Another in my series of park reviews. If you go all the way up Forrestal Drive, it stops at Ladera Linda, which is across the street from Forrestal Ecological Reserve(see photos). At this point you are way the heck up high in the RPV hills, overlooking the ocean. It’s beautiful country. There is a hiking trail into the Reserve, but it looked a bit too remote to embark on alone, so I will take it on another time. Ladera Linda apparently has an active community center. There was a group of Seniors there the day I stopped by. And Montessori School of RPV shares the building. The adjacent park is small, but the views are sweet. There’s a sports field, two basketball courts, and a kids’ playground. Well off the main road in a residential area, this is a spot to go on a weekday if you want scenic solitude. (15 photos attached)
