This is also the trailhead for Bighorn Overlook. And if you continue up Frank Sinatra, past Roadrunner, you can take the Chuckwalla Trail. Also nice hiking.

What a cool little gem of trails for hiking/running! I was looking for a place to get a little morning fitness, when I stumbled upon a series of trails right behind Rancho Mirage City Hall. There is a parking area behind City Hall and the Bighorn Trail zig-zags up to the lookout, but I’d recommend walking out to the main road for a few hundred feet and venturing off the road on the Roadrunner Trail. The trail skirts along the upper reaches of the steep hills above Rancho Mirage and Cathedral City and wanders through some really beautiful rocky terrain overlooking some steep canyons. It is not crowded, overused or hard to follow. The only«slight» downside is at the top of the trail, where it ends into a construction area by the Ritz-Carlton. Follow the road down a few hundred feet to the back to the Big Horn trail and continue along until you reach the lookout right above City Hall. In all, it’s about 3.5 miles of mostly trail with great views and quiet hiking/walking or running.
