My parents live in the area so we frequent the Shannon Rose quite a bit when I come to visit them. The food is always fine, not the best things I’ve ever eaten but definitely decent for NJ cuisine and they’re consistent. It’s a great, large, lively space; more than your average Irish pub. They often have live music which is a lot of fun. The staff is excellent, beyond friendly, and always accommodating, from the hostesses to the servers. Seems like they have a winning formula here as it’s always packed. And the drinks are honest! Great spot for dates, family nights, lunch with kids, or pick ups at the bar!

The food was awesome. Bangers & Mash were delicious, BF inhaled his Dublin shepherd’s pie, and we all enjoyed the appetizers we got(short rib poutine, corned beef spring rolls, and cod bites) The service was a bit lacking… first they brought the wrong beer for BF’s dad & his wife, then they kept neglecting to refresh my water… and then they brought us other people’s stuff as well as tried to give us an extra 6 pack thingy with the condiments and such. Nothing overwhelmingly awful, but it just all added up to seeming super disorganized. In the lobby they have all sorts of plaques for winning best happy hour and such and BF’s dad said the place is ALWAYS packed so you’d think they’d be up to the task of handling the busy but not overly insane crowd. It also was quite chilly in there and we were nowhere near the door which was odd.

I want to first apologize to the hostess that saw my son and I leaving after 15 minutes with no service. I was annoyed at the fact that no one had even taken our drink order, but I could tell she genuinely felt bad and tried to get us to stay. I feel bad for not being more polite as it was not her fault. The restaurant is clean and the hostess was sweet. It wasn’t very busy at the time, so I don’t know why no one even took our drink order. I even made eye contact with the bartender, but he ignored me and continued to converse with his one patron. Not sure if I will go out of my way to go there again.

We have never been disappointed at The Shannon Rose. With kids or without, the service and food are fantastic. We have been there when it is crowded or off times, they seat us right away. When we have the kids, they always take that under consideration when finding a place for us. *** Recently ordered take-out, the food was hot, well prepared, and timely. We weren’t expecting too much because… well, it’s restaurant take out, but they did a great job. Will order take out again. ***

Friend and I came in and were wowed with the experience. Taylor took care of us at the bar with great suggestions and friendly conversation. He suggested the potato croquette off the special menu as an appetizer and it was fabulous. We also had lobster corn fritters and bourbon bacon popcorn. You will not be disappointed, everything was great! Taylor made us feel like we had been coming there forever and because of that and the great food we will be coming back again.

This place used to be a TGIF and should really go back to what it once stood because it seems to only adequately serve to larger groups. Please work on your customer service, Rose.

Solid Irish pub. Could be really great. Been here a few times, latest was with the wife and little girls after a late night shopping expedition to Paramus. It was late enough that it was either this or the diner further north on 17. They were quick to seat us but we soon learned that the service was going to be slow for the entire time we were there. Gratefully my little girls are pretty easy going but everyone was hungry and tired and slow service did not make for the best experience. I could not tell if they had the waitress running all over or what but she kept disappearing and I had to flag down other employees a few times. Ambiance was what you might expect in an Irish pub on a Saturday night. Busy, and they had a good band playing. It was definitely a fun atmosphere. They have 2 huge bars and were well stocked. Nice list of beers of various types on tap. Irish pub means ordering an Irish beer. I picked a Harp, safe choice. The food was decent. Having been there in the past I though it was better so maybe food quality was down a bit. Ordered poutine for an app and it was pretty weak. Basically a small pile of fries with some meat and a little cheese dabbed on. Disappointing for what they charged. Eventually dinner came and it was decent. I had the Dublin shepherd’s pie, which was good but maybe a little bland. My wife had the fish and chips which I thought were pretty good. Kids’ meals were pretty standard. I think if the service had been better it might have made up for some of the average-ness of the food. I did not think it was bad, but there’s room for improvement. I will have to go back and try again.

What a fun place! It’s typical pub food, but they make a point to use very fresh ingredients. I even heard that the chef frequents the Ramsey Farmers Market. I have eaten here for a work lunch and also had a Sunday night dinner date; both occasions were wonderful. However, I tried to meet up with a friend one night in late November, and it was so crowded and packed we had to leave; there literally was no parking spots left. Apparently, the Shannon Rose is the place to be for«ugly Christmas sweater» parties, lol! This pub seems higher end than some other local spots, and I would love to check out some bands here on a Saturday night.

This is a great after work spot or dinner spot. The Shannon Rose is located very close to my office. Whenever I’m in town, I stop in multiple times. Usually for drinks, sometimes for dinner and even sometimes for dinner and drinks with clients. Very good selection of beers and a nice menu to choose from as well. My favorite beer they offer — The Ommegang Abbey. When you look at the ingredients, it’s almost off putting. But the flavor is pretty awesome. Not what you would expect. I’ve enjoyed the shepherds pie multiple times. The last time I was in I had the corned beef and cabbage. Not great but not horrible. I’ve had better. There was something about it that I didn’t like. Maybe it was just me. It had a bit of an overpowering nutmeg flavor to it. The brownie sundae is pretty freaking incredible! The only downside to the Shannon Rose is sometimes it can get a bit loud. It’s not a place to go for a quiet evening, that’s for sure. You can go alone, as a couple or with a fairly large group. It does have an outdoor patio area but, as the restaurant is right off the highway, it can be a little loud. Would I go back? Absolutely. I’m sure I will be back time and time again and have a great time while I’m there.

Terrible service. Bad food. Silverware was dirty and the waiter took a really long time defiantly not coming back.

My boyfriend and I went to the Don Bosco football game and decided to eat here after the game. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks. The drinks came quickly, however it took a while for the bartender to get back to us to order our food. It wasn’t terribly busy but we still waited at least 15 minutes for him to come back. They did have a great variety of food though. A little bit of everything– salads, burgers, pulled pork, wings, fries. Once the food came out, everything was great. Good portions and tasted great. Will definitely be back here!

The Shannon Rose is a good place to go during happy hour. They have great drink and food options at a really great price. I hit up this Shannon Rose on a Friday around 4pm and it wasn’t too crowded. It’s a really large restaurant with plenty of tables to eat at, and two large bars. My friend and I sat in a corner at the back bar. It was a good corner to chat in and eat some cheap, happy hour food. We ordered 4 cheeseburger sliders at $ 1.00 each and they were delicious. They were tiny, even for slider standards, but still delicious. Can’t go wrong with a buck slider! My friend ordered some lobster corn fritters and she said they were pretty good. I went with a $ 5.00 bbq chicken flatbread, and unfortunately it was not very good at all. It was very messy and difficult to eat because it was as hard as a rock. The flavors weren’t that great either. Next time I’ll probably just stick with the cheaper finger foods. The service was good, and the bartenders were nice enough to not kick us out when we paid but wanted to chit chat for just a bit longer. I’ll definitely be back for another happy hour!

My date took me here for some beer and dinner. Little did we know that it was halfway to St. Patty’s day! There was a bagpipe troupe serenading around the restaurant, which made our dinner date so interestingly great! So much of an Irish pub feels :) We ordered fish&chips and southwestern burger. I chose to have a beer flight, and thanks to our server’s recommendation, I’m now a new fan of black velvetine. The service was great and so was the food. After we were done with our dinner and finalized the check, we stayed for another 3 hours and they didn’t seem to mind.

Came here with my family after an event at school one Sunday afternoon. We were able to be seated right away and service was very efficient. My whole family and I loved the food. Personally, this was my first time trying Irish food. From that standpoint, the chicken pot pie tasted great. There was such a balance of flavors and the puff pastry that topped the dish did not taste as heavy as it looks to be. I would recommend The Shannon Rose for those in the area.

Stopped by here to meet up with some people. It’s your regular Irish bar. We happened to come on a Thursday which happened to be Trivia Night. There weren’t many people here and the space is really big which is a plus. Everyone ordered one of all the sliders they had. My favorite was the pulled pork one. The spinach dip was good as well. They do have a small outdoor area, which was pretty packed on a warm night.

I came here for a paint night this past Wednesday and had an awesome time. I noticed this going on last time I was here for dinner and was intrigued. What’s more fun than painting and drinking at a bar? The company creativity uncorked holds paint nights at the Shannon Rose every Wednesday. They had an area set up in the pub. We ordered our drinks and food from the special happy hour menu for the paining group and proceeded to happily paint Climt’s Tree of Life. At the end of the night we took home our fun paintings. It was a great night at an awesome bar, definitely recommend doing this!

The interior is very much like the authentic neighborhood pubs in the cities of Ireland but on a much LARGER a scale & a tad more rich in both fabric & color. There are two large bars and as many large dining rooms. Great for pub food and a game(football or foot ball ;) Decent live music on weekends which is cool. Service is slow but friendly. The food is ok. Not great. None of us were excited by the burgers, bangers & mash, fish & chips or dessert which was lame all together as the prices were high considering both the quality & portion. Great for groups, HH, or to watch the game.

I really wanted to like this place, but the food really let me down. My brother and his girlfriend told us this place was great and had an awesome Shepard’s pie. I was in the mood for a steak and ordered the New York strip. My wife ordered the Shepard’s pie. The steak had some of the worst spices I have ever tasted. It had a ample coating of butter on the steak, however I only eat the steak through without sending it back because I was starving. My wife’s Shepard’s pie had hardly any meat in it and was mostly dry mash potatoes. The waiter talked us into a desert and my wife and I split a brownie sundae. The brownie was dryer than a summers day in Death Valley! I Informed the waiter when he asked how well the brownie came out. He said he was sorry, but didn’t offer to take the desert off the bill. That act alone was lousy and I won’t be back because of it. I really wanted to like this place, and my brother insisted that it was an off night for them. I love the look of the place. It’s a damn shame. I really wanted to like this place. It’s gonna take a while for my brother to try to get me back in after the desert nonsense!
