Got pulled over at gunpoint by these cowboys a few years ago. Accused me of throwing drugs out of the car, was cuffed, questioned and held for an hour I wasn’t even driving… let me and my family go without even writing us a ticket. They were on a fishing expedition and we just happened to be a young Hispanic family who they racially profiled as being potentially problematic and might have figured that we didn’t fit the community profile so we more than likely were up to no good or perhaps on some type of crime spree. Let me and my family go after the mother of my children informed the Ramona cops that her father was a captain in the Los Angeles sheriffs department. Didn’t think Ramona was backwoods… but I guess when they start letting racist jerks like Joseph Arpaio start talking up his crapola… I guess people of color have to be careful when they decide to venture into Ramona. I realize that law enforcement is a stressful job… but you have to use discretion and don’t go Rambo on innocent families. I have great respect for law enforcement… a few cowboys might go a little over the top at times… and hopefully Ramona as well as other departments will recognize and correct situations before they become systemic. I contacted the ACLU, the Ramona Sentinel, North County Times, The San Diego Tribune and a citizen law enforcement review board. Hard to really prove anything against the cops… and of course no wrongdoing was acknowledged or no misconduct was ever admitted. Just another romp through the neighborhood by a few Keystone Cop Cowboys. Luckily I didn’t make any sudden moves or raise my voice in disbelief… I think I would’ve been framed… or possibly killed. The officer who attacked me and my family was James Marin… who obviously gets his kicks out of pulling his weapon out and scaring the hell out of young children… hopefully he mellowed out his rogue behavior… but I doubt it.
