My first one star review. I don’t even know where to begin. Given that the property management field is a client-service industry, HOW managing agents treat their residents is vital to a management company’s long-term success. If the services provided by a property management company are not up to par, renters will be dissatisfied and it WILL negatively impact that company’s reputation. However, if a property management company provides quality customer service and treats their clients fairly and respectfully, there will be more satisfied renters who are more inclined to refer that agency, establishing an enviable reputation in the area it serves. I’m assuming Murray V G and Co Inc either chooses to dismiss the basic concepts of quality customer service and positive management values/practices or is simply unaware of the qualities required to maintain happy tenants and consequently, a good reputation in the community. Basically, don’t rent from them. I have lived in Raleigh for several years, and this has been BYFAR my worst experience renting from a property management company. Remember that thing I said about the importance of quality customer service? Don’t expect that from Murray V G and Co Inc. From the moment my pen finished signing my name, I was approached with outright discourtesy. The management staff couldn’t be bothered with me. Carl, the office property manager, was consistently rude and dismissive when contacted about maintenance or repair requests… if you can reach him. Phone calls and emails are ignored rather than acknowledged; another example of Murray V G and Co Inc’s disreputable treatment of tenants. And what if you have maintenance or repair requests? I sure hope you’re not in a hurry… or that you’re not easily offended when the landlord insinuates that you’re the cause of any improperly working amenities. So, the AC unit doesn’t run efficiently? «It’s your fault.» Still not working? «You must have done something to it since the last time I sent someone to fix it.» Ugh. I no longer live there, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the AC unit still hasn’t been properly fixed. *sigh* My review could continue for ages. But, I won’t do that to you. Or myself. Let me reiterate: RUN, FAR, FARAWAY in the complete opposite direction of Murray V G and Co Inc. Let me save you the hassle and stress of renting from them. People have enough stress in their lives; their rental company shouldn’t be one of them.

This rental company doesn’t even deserve the compliments of one star. As a tenant we have experienced utter rudeness from Carl, the office/property manager on St. Marys St. The unprofessional remarks and communication Carl exhibits towards his tenants are profound. No one returns emails or phone calls, and if you want anything to be done about your apartment/home you must go directly to Tom Williams who is the owner of all VG Murray properties. We have been renting for exactly 1 year and the only thing I would have to be pleased of are, location and prices they have to offer. We do NOT recommend these people.
