This is a privately maintained botanical garden that is associated with the Plant Delights Nursery(reviewed separately). They are open to the public eight weekends a year on their open house days, though appointments and groups can be scheduled for other times. This is a display and trial garden, and it is very beautiful. There are about 17,000 plants on five acres of garden, and there were many rare and unusual things that I had never seen before. The emphasis here is on ornamental horticulture, so everything is displayed very attractively. It is a wonderful place for ideas. Most of the plants are marked, though you really have to know your stuff. For the most part, they only give the Latin name, and some of these were unusual enough that I didn’t even recognize the genus names. This was a fascinating couple of hours. Even if you don’t know that much about plants, this is still a very enjoyable garden because it is so beautiful.
