Groovy Duck Bakery

Ordered a simple vanilla cake for our daughter’s birthday party: they decorated it exactly to our specifications and it was delicious. The cake was spongy and not overly sweet and the buttercream frosting had a great flavor and texture. We would definitely recommend them to others! Best of all, our birthday girl got to pick out a unique rubber duck (she’s a collector) for her next bath.

Wonderful bakery! I ordered a Frozen themed cake the day before my daughter’s party and Groovy Duck did an awesome job! Frozen blue icing with white snowflake accents — perfection! Plus the cake itself was delicious, all the adults were so impressed.
I also love the free wi-​fi, coffee, lattes, cookies and the cute children’s area.

So I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter for 12÷26÷15. We got to Groovy Duck and the writing was misspelled for her name. The cake looked nice. Got it home and had her party.
The cake was dry and it wasn’t real buttercream frosting. The ganache did not look authentic either. I would not recommend. I have had better cake from a supermarket. We had a great baker back in Boston, just hope we can find something comparable. As a chef myself, quality
is very important to me and my customers.

I was disappointed. It has such great reviews, but it wasn’t that great at all. I had a cupcake and cookie and neither were good.

Favorite place to get muffins in the Triangle. I love the variety, but when you see the Amish Friendship Muffin in stock, get several. Cookies and cupcakes range from good to excellent. The coffee is consistently very good. The young lady working the front at the tail end of the morning rush hour never fails to brighten my day; excellent recommendations (easy when your product is consistently very good or better), friendly, patient, and definitely knows her coffee. I’ve never touched the bigger cakes or logs, but I look forward to sampling some for upcoming holiday parties.

When you go to Groovy Duck Bakery, you’re not just going for amazing baked goods, beautiful cakes, or delicious coffee, you’re going for a delightful overall experience. The staff is is kind, informative, and cheerful, not to mention clearly passionate about their jobs. The décor is adorable and friendly… I swear, I wish I could live in there. And did I mention the treats? Seriously, if a sweet treat could change your life, it’d come from this place. Check it out!

I haven’t tried any cake from here however the bars I had were very tasty I also like that there are many different options from cupcakes to muffins, to cakes, to cheesecake a true dessert!

I ordered a 10 inch camping themed cow cake for my daughters birthday party and a lot was left to be desired as far as taste goes. It was moist and exactly how I wanted it decorated but it lacked flavor. For almost $ 70 I expected a little more. It reminded me of a cake you could get from any of your local grocery stores.
I would give them another shot if I was in the area to try one of their cupcakes or muffins.

I am lowering my review. Bought a cake and the guy bumped it on the top of the case put it into the box and taped it shut. So unpaid 20 for a mussed up cake. Photo included

Even close to closing time, there were still several delectable awesomenesses to close out one crazy day. The cupcake frosting was very light and not too sweet. There was just enough of the soft, fluffy topping to complement each bite of the cupcake. The cake is very tasty. A lovely balance of moist, airy, and perfectly sized. It’s like have a slice of cake. Each cupcake has a filling. I’ve been other places where the fillings overwhelmed the cake, but not the case here. There was just enough to add a little something, without being overpowering. Will definitely visit again. The eclairs look like they would be the perfect next target.

Groovy Duck bakery underwhelmed me. I stopped to pick up dessert on my way to a dinner party, and was warmly welcomed into the cute and clean bakery. No complaints regarding service — staff was happy to guide me in my selection. I ordered an oreo cupcake, mango & lime cupcake and cinnamon square so we could try a variety. When we dove in after dinner, the cupcakes just didn’t do it for me. They reminded me of grocery store cakes (of which I’m not a fan). The cinnamon square, on the other hand, was very tasty. Other Unilocalers seems to love this bakery, but I’ll drive the extra miles and pick up Whole Foods’ cupcakes. The texture and taste is more my style.

I made a quick stop here to pick up something sweet. I got a couple of cupcakes and took the last of their lemon cheesecake. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. When I got back home and took a bite of their cheesecake, it was truly THE BEST cheesecake I’ve tasted. It was so light and flavorful. I tasted the mango mojito cupcake, which was good. The Hazelnut cream had a little too much cream.
But I’m definitely stopping again to try their other treats and pamper myself :)

I LOVE local businesses. That being said, the baked treats are good but the place isn’t anyplace to stay and linger over your purchase.
Maybe I’ve been there at the wrong times but the gentleman behind the counter isn’t a happy guy.
There are so many niche cupcake places that you can’t afford peeps like that behind the counter.
But as I said the treats are yummy!

I am obsessed with sweet stuff, including donuts, croissant, cakes etc. My goal as a foodie is to eat as many bakery shop in RTP as possible before I leave here. This store is definitely on my list even though not a lot of people comment on this. But who cares, I do what I wanna do
Location: I was gonna say it’s hard to find but I think that’s bit biased since I am not familiar with Raleigh. And when I drove back, I saw Harris teeter is at the opposite street, I guess it is easy to find by locals.
Price: cupcake which is really huge is only 5 dollars and other cupcakes are 2. So I won’t not think the price is too high
Service: really nice and patient. There are many indoor seating but apparently those seats are close to each other and the decoration seems to attract little kids instead of adults.
Food: the chocolate mousse cupcake is huge and delicious. I think this is a good place to enjoy cupcake. But I am fairly disappointed in their cinnamon rolls. The roll tastes like bread with some cinnamons on top of it. And the cream on top is too much. I prefer glazed on top of cinnamon roll. I didn’t try other stuff but most are cupcakes. I am no fan of cupcakes so sorry I probably just gonna stop here
Overall: I would say a 3.5 since the cupcake is exceptional and unique in triangle area.

Not a huge or fancy place, but the quality of everything in there is pretty good… Been there a couple of times now for some grab and go of some breakfast items and sweets… Everything was fresh and looks like made with lots of love :)
Cupcakes are giant, which you don’t see at too many places around here.

I was lost about what to do for my son’s first birthday cake and I was going to attempt to buy all the tools and fondant and make my own. It was gonna be too stressful. So I searched everywhere and finally saw someone post in «Talk» on here about Groovy.
Beth was so easy to work with and responded to me at non-​business hours which was amazing. She made this cake exactly like the picture I found and made the colors like I wanted for the party theme!
The cake was delicious!!! I’ve had wonderful cakes by other professionals in Raleigh… and this one definitely went beyond my expectations.
Thank you for making my son’s birthday less stressful!
Oh and this place was not easy to find– it’s behind the building off Edwards mill… the street faces the back of store. :)

Went here around 3pm on a Tuesday. Very friendly staff and a few people came and went while we were there.
I ordered an iced coffee and it was good — the price was great! I also had a blueberry muffin and tried my wife’s giant chocolate chip cookie. They were OK.
I gave this three stars because the staff was cool, they had really great prices and great drink selection (see my uploaded photo!). It would have earned more stars but the food just wasn’t that impressive, nothing worth coming back for. If I lived or worked nearby I’d stop in for drinks though.

Before heading to yoga, I wanted to get something to eat and my occasional latte. The bakery was not very busy at all on 9 AM Sunday morning. I ordered a flavored latte. To be honest, I forgot what that was but I thought it was just okay. I also got the maple walnut muffin. I thought it was awesome and it had lots of flavor. I could tell it was freshly baked. My boyfriend got the cinnamon roll which was good but it wasn’t until he got in the middle, you can tell it was slightly undercooked because it was doughy. When I was waiting, I noticed all the different types of rubber ducks across the counter, hence the name of the place. Another thing that caught my eye was the massive cupcakes. I need to come back and try one of those!

This place is doing everything right. Cool website-​check! Friendly helpful gal who took my order on the phone-​check! Order ready when it was supposed to be… cake beautiful… check check! Prices right… cake delicious… I don’t see how they could possibly do anything better! Add in some groovy yellow duck cookies for the ride… check!
TIP: Whether you’re picking up a previously ordered item or just stopping in for something yummy, allow extra time for admiring things. You will not want to be rushed!
