Atrium Obgyn

Scheduling my first apt was a pain but past that they have been lovely and are awesome at calming those ftm fears after I had an anxiety attack about miscarrying they fit me in same day for an ultrasound to ease my nerves instead of just writing a script they’re also very patient and any time they have to have a looksee down south they always do out with the utmost respect and compassion compared to another practice where I literally felt like a slab of meat being inspected it’s great here doubt I’ll go any where else

I can not speak highly enough of Atrium OBGYN. The nurse’s line always returns my phone calls, I can always schedule an appointment, and the doctors are always understanding and patient. If you want quality care from professional staff, Atrium is the place to go.

I had recently moved to the area when I discovered I was pregnant. Calling around, most places gave me a wait time of at least two weeks to get an appointment. Since I was already a couple of months along, I needed to get in to see a doctor quickly. Anyone who has been pregnant knows a lot can change week to week. Atrium was the only one that understood and squeezed in an appointment for me later the same week.
They have doctors and nurse practitioners on a rotation. You can have a regular one but I wasn’t terribly picky and just scheduled with whomever was available for a certain day/​time so I got to meet all of them. There is only one doctor that I felt was somewhat pushy and could use a better bedside manner but maybe our personalities just didn’t mesh well. Everyone else, especially Rachel a nurse practicioner, was very kind and understanding and willing to answer all the questions I had. The rest of the staff was fantastic as well. Shout out to the sonologist who remembered how my baby reacted each ultrasound and was super excited when we got a face shot finally.
You can make a profile online to keep up with appointments, make payments, and check lab work and health summaries. Adding a picture allows the front desk to familiarize themselves with you and makes check in super easy.
When I delivered my baby I actually didn’t get one of the Atrium people. They are on a hospital rotation (at REX) with another clinic and one of those doctors did my delivery. It still went very smoothly and I was impressed with the professionalism and friendly attitude the other doctor had.
There have only been a couple of times I felt rushed during an appointment. It happens as it gets later in the day as appointments run late or people don’t show up on time. But when I spoke up with questions, they made sure I had answers. Don’t accept it if a healthcare professional is trying to get you out the door and you have questions. Speak up. If you don’t, they don’t know you aren’t satisfied.
TL;DR — Good place. Go there for all your womanly things.

I have been going to Atrium since I found out I was expecting last January. I always liked the practice and the doctors but, I wanted to brag about them today especially. I had a somewhat difficult delivery in October (by difficult I mean it didn’t go as planned in any way.) Doctor Alvarez and Dr. Deibel were fantastic in talking me through getting the epidural I needed and the c-​section that turned out to be necessary. Dr. Deibel did the surgery and has done my two follow up appointments since and I will continue to see him as my primary OB-​GYN. Today I went in for my IUD insertion and because of circumstances beyond my control I needed to bring my 2 month old son with me. I was late to the appointment and Dr. Deibel worked me in no problem and then when my son decided to get fussy a nurse came in to hold him and even fed him for me while the doctor put in my IUD. I don’t think I will ever find a doctors office that would go to such lengths. I highly recommend these doctors all of them are sweet and talk you through all the procedures and do what you need for them to. They are also very open to what you have to say and do things so that you are comfortable. I will recommend them to any friends in search of a new OB-​GYN.

I was not very pleased with them. I went for just a regular wellness visit to continuing getting my birth control and it could have been better. I was already nervous about seeing a new doctor and they didn’t do much to calm that. I felt that they just shuffled me in and out as quickly as possible without really trying to help me and they didn’t give me time to ask the questions I wanted to. I know that people (especially doctors) are busy but after my experience here, I am searching for another gynecology practice who actually takes the time to listen to me and not rush me out of the door.

I am a relatively new patient here after a bad experience elsewhere and I have been very pleased with my care. After a very difficult situation, Dr Gray helped me handle with the perfect balance of compassion and medical knowledge. They were able to fit me in quickly several times, and even called with same day lab results. I have yet to wait longer than 5 – 10 minutes for a doctor. And that is impressive. They do not appear to routinely over schedule like so many other practices. I like the front desk staff and scheduler a lot. The nurses have all also been great, minus one crabby experience, but she may have just needed some coffee :).

This is an absolutely outstanding practice. Dr. Amy Gilbert in particular is brilliant. The front staff is super friendly and you can just tell that all of the folks there have a genuine interest in what they do. The online portal is super convenient and staff is really quick to reply. A++ and cannot recommend them enough. Going to an ObGyn isn’t anyone’s favorite experience, but Atrium sure makes these appointments better than anywhere else I’ve gone. Do yourself a favor and check them out.

I love this place. There is never a wait. Everyone is nice. Doctor is thorough. And the bathroom has a connecting door to the the exam room. Very clean and welcoming.

So, I’ll preface this by saying my review is based off the customer service I’ve received with Atrium — not the quality of service. I’ve never been a formal patient of Atrium because of the lackluster customer service I received. I had called Atrium for 1 wellness visit and left a voicemail. Nobody called back, so I called back again. But again, no one returned my call. A week later, I call back again and someone answers. I ask to schedule an appointment and they tell me to call back in a month (???) because their schedule/​calendar is constantly changing.
To which I replied «that’s why I’m hoping to schedule an appointment».
Overall — they lost my business. Went through the Duke system instead.

Love this practice. The doctors are caring and the nurses and office staff are always friendly. I feel well cared for when I go to Atrium. They are great about returning messages left on the nurse line and always have someone live answering the phone (instead of voicemail). They’ve never messed up an appointment, as I’ve seen at other offices.

Since my bad experience, things have improved. The nurses have been more patient and I haven’t had any complaints. I had our baby in August and was very pleased with the doctors during labor and delivery. They were very caring and collaborative with me. I would recommend the practice to others. The best part of L&D though was Rex (where this practice delivers) and their nurses. The nurses at Rex were AMAZING. They took such good care of me and our son.

Now look. Here we are writing about people who look at our vaginas and how well they do it. I have to say that it is a strange thing to review a location that is so uncomfortable to go to because who REALLY enjoys a trip to the ob? With that being said, I actually do not mind going to the doctor as long as I’m coming here to see Amy Gilbert. I haven’t seen any other doctors here so I cannot comment otherwise. The office managers have always been really nice to me and I have always be seen promptly and without waiting more than 15 minutes past my appointment time. That, in and of itself, should speak loads about this facility. I have been here for you normal yearly care, bloodwork, health assessments, and discussions about medication and have no complaints with any of the capacities I have been treated. The only thing I wish were different is how very difficult it was to find Lake Drive! If you decide to visit Atrium, call for directions. Your gps will try to take you to Maine. Yes, seriously. PS: if you google atrium obgyn, sometimes the first result is one in another state. That was a hilarious phone call. Trust me.
