Bed Bugs and Bad Customer Service: I checked in here on 1÷21÷15, saw a bug crawling across the floor, and killed it and dropped it in the toilet before thinking to look up online what a bedbug looked like — the bug in my room looked exactly like the various photos of bedbugs I saw on Google Images. I immediately bagged up my clothes in plastic bags, went and checked out and asked for a refund before driving many miles out to a laundromat that would be open past midnight and washing all of my clothes. Obviously a major inconvenience. However, the lady at the front desk said she was not authorized to give me more than a $ 20 partial refund and that if I wanted a full refund, I would have to speak to the manager later. When I called back to speak to the manger, he chose not to give me a refund, instead saying that there was no «evidence,» that they had had the room inspected, had exterminators in recently, yada yada yada. He first offered only the original $ 20 «discount»(«Bed Bug Discount?»), and eventually said he could refund 50% of my room fee. He called back after a few minutes(yesterday) stating that he had sent the refund through and that it should show up on my credit card soon. But as of the end of the day today, there is no refund showing on my credit card. I found it quite unexpected and off-putting that the manager started talking about«evidence» that there was a bug in my room. One doesn’t normally think a customer needs to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he or she wasn’t happy with a purchase(!) Rather than«the customer is always right,» they seem to operate on the principle, «We are innocent unless the customer can prove we are guilty.» As for the hotel itself, the location was good, and the hotel seemed fine — except, of course, for the bed bugs. But I think it’s just petty to insist on keeping *part*(or all, if the alleged refund isn’t coming) of someone’s money when they have only been there a few hours and say there’s something unacceptable about the room(especially if that unacceptable thing is bed bugs!) So, remember, if you do stay here — bring something to keep the bugs away, if there’s anything wrong with your room, keep plenty of «evidence,» and don’t expect a refund: full, prompt, courteous — or otherwise.

Before coming here I read some reviews the review were pretty impressive so I decided to give it a try. Before coming to the hotel I called to find out if they had any rooms available he informed me that he only had one left and actually held it for me until I got there which was very nice of him. When walking in the guy was so nice and friendly great customer service. I checked into a non-smoking room which recently got new carpet installed. Because of the smell of new carpet I received the room for a much cheaper rate which I was very grateful for. Entering my room I was pleased with the way the room looked. You can tell that they are working on upgrading the rooms. While staying here the only Cons was that I did not have cable I know that shouldn’t be a big deal but I wanted to watch something on tv. I had my laptop but there was no wifi or Internet available in my room, and there is limited parking I had to park across the street at the Hampton inn because there was no parking available. There was parking in the back but it is totally dark back there and definitely not safe for a woman to park at night. For the amount that I paid this was a great find. If I’m back in this area I would stay again if cable and Internet is available lol. And I must add its is right next to a mall and has A LOT of restaurants in the area and other shopping centers near by. This is a great area for a great price.

Great little hidden gem… great deals! super clean and friendly staff… real southern hospitality. Next to mall/shopping center. In the center of it all. And nice breakfast in the morning, nothing fancy but gets the job done!

I read the excellent reviews and decided to give this ABVI a try and, at the same time, save a wheelbarrow full of money. When I first arrived, Hirsh and his father, Barat, were welcoming. They were pleasant, bright and seemed confident, that confidence you have when you are good at what you do. I went to the room and it was clean. It not only looked clean, it felt clean. Every fixture and appliance worked as it should… perfectly. The walls must be solid because I didn’t hear my neighbors any of the four nights I was at the hotel. Also, the beds… I could not believe how comfortable the beds were in the two rooms I slept in. For the amount of money I paid for a room in the area, I would have expected to be sleeping on something that was slightly more comfortable than concrete. The beds at this ABVI are the type you find in much more expensive hotels. The bathrooms were clean and the hot water ran hot. Some of the issues I did have were quickly resolved. The first was when one of my neighbors was smoking(in a non-smoking room) and the smoke was coming through the walls, I contacted Hirsh and he corrected the situation. Also, I changed my plans and ended up staying an extra night. Either because of a human or technical error, there was a problem getting me the room I wanted, however, within 25 minutes, the problem was corrected. In some of the other reviews I read, previous guests had complained. Life is not perfect and this hotel is not the Marriott or the Ritz. You aren’t paying $ 200 to $ 600 a night for superfluous amenities. I highly recommend this hotel. You will be paying a much lower rate than the other hotels in the area, your basic needs will be taken care of and you will be treated very well. Food: For those who like being malnourished, there is a McDonald’s across the street. For those who want better food, there is a mall that has several restaurants outside(within walking distance on the hotel side) and several more inside. Also, Hirsh is a foodie and has excellent recommendations for restaurants around the area. Over the past 7 years, I have visited Raleigh 4 times. Each time I find a new restaurant with outstanding food. Hirsh knows a few of them.

The building outside is unimpressive. Once inside you may focus on the front desk and your mission at hand. The friendliness of the front desk attendant is a great first impression. When you get to the room it doesn’t look like much. BUT, the bed was very comfortable and I have slept great two nights in a row. The air conditioning works well with very little noise. When you go into the bathroom there are many nice features including a fasionable, tall vanity with a quality top and accompanying mirror, soap/body wash/shampoo dispensers instead of bothering with those little bottles, nice shower pressure and temperature, and I always like seeing Water Sense toilets. Upon going down for breakfast the next morning you will notice that the lobby is actually very tastefully decorated and they have really maximized the visual appeal in that space. Again and again, the friendliness is evident in each employee you com across. The Wi-fi is free with no password needed. The maid service is very good too. I am enjoying my stay here and happy for the great rate. Tip: The shower is hard to figure out. You need to grip the bottom of the tub water spout and pull down.
