Morning Song Farm

We tried produce from Morning Song Farm for three months. We enjoyed the quality of the produce but decided to terminate membership for two reasons.
1. Poor communication: Farmer Donna emailed us the night before a delivery to tell us our box would be delivered to a local business. We didn’t read the message until the box was delivered. Farmer Donna failed to tell the delivery driver to deliver our box first, as promised, so when we went to pick up the box, it wasn’t there. When we told Farmer Donna we wanted to cancel our membership, she failed to deliver our last box. When we called her, she said she didn’t owe us a box, but then checked and found she was wrong.
2. Quantity of greens: Because we had a delivery to a local business we were not allowed to select fruit/​vegetables. We found we were getting overloaded with greens and very little/​no fruit.
We have had experience with a local organic CSA farm that was excellent. Unfortunately, that farm is no longer in business.
We were sadly disappointed with Morning Star Farm.

Love love love the products and classes from morning song. Always amazing. Tastes better than I’ve ever had before. My favorite is the cheese making class. Delicious. And Miss Donna is professional and knowledgeable. A real gem. Try the csa and classes. You will love it!!!

After using a particular CSA for a couple years, I decided to try something different, and I selected Morning Song. And Morning Song was definitely different: the box was more expensive, for less, lower-​quality produce. With the other CSA, produce almost always lasted the two weeks before the next box came, and often longer than that. Cilantro and other greens were already wilting when I picked up the Morning Song box. Morning Song was also less organized and flexible than the other CSA. Morning Song doesn’t allow you to cancel a box if you’re a biweekly subscriber and you don’t get billed until you’re well into the next cycle. Strange that a business would deliver goods before getting paid or even confirming that the customer is planning to pay. So as the first quarter ended, I wondered when my next bill would come so I could cancel. Since I hadn’t heard anything, I picked up my box the first week of the second quarter, thinking maybe I miscounted or since I started late in the quarter, I still had a box left? Well, clearly it was a mistake to pick it up because now I have to pay for another pricey box of mediocre produce. I’m going back to the other CSA.

I love my CSA box! It’s great to get nice, fresh produce. But, I really like discovering new things. I love getting to try new foods, it helps me get out of the normal food rut. The eggs are awesome as well, you can’t buy these in the store. The green and blues are my favorite!

I can’t say enough about how wonderful both Farmer Donna and her beautiful CSA boxes of produce are. It is so refreshing to eat vegetables and greens that actually have flavor (just like in the olden days). I admit that I am totally spoiled with the beautiful, fresh and flavorful produce from Morning Song Farm and am not happy when I have to fill in with store bought veggies. Not only are my salads amazing and tasty (my teenage son can tell when it’s not from Morning Song) but the smoothies are delicious too! Thank you Morning Song and thank you Farmer Donna!

The produce from Morning Song Farm is outstanding. As far as CSA’s go, I think it’s the best option in Orange County. I really appreciate knowing that everything in my beautiful farm box comes from the property at Morning Song AND there’s a lot of variety throughout the year. I also appreciate how clean the produce is! Most of the time I just eat everything out of the box as it is.
I also can’t say enough about the eggs! They are hands down THE BEST eggs I have ever eaten. I like knowing the chickens are eating a lot of the same veggies I am straight off the farm, and all their grain feed is GMO free. Thanks for doing it right, Farmer Donna!

I LOVE my CSA box! Morning Song Farm delivers a big beautiful box of lovely fresh produce to a local restaurant in Costa Mesa, just down the street from my house every other week. All the produce is washed really well, and you will definitely not be going hungry. It’s a ton of food, it’s all organic, I would go broke buying the same amount of food at a grocery store or even a farmer’s market.
I also get the best farm fresh eggs ever, with golden orange yolks that are super tasty. I’ve never had a single broken egg. These guys and gals pack the boxes so carefully.
Every time I pick up my box and open it up, I get all these wonderful surprises, it’s like Christmas! Farmer Donna is the best, and I look forward to getting my CSA share from her farm for years to come.

I just picked up my first box of CSA from Morning Song Farm, and I am thrilled with the contents, quality and amount of veggies and fruits!!! Everything was so neatly and carefully packed in the box – very easy to sort and store in my fridge. I look forward to enjoying this delicious bounty from your garden and to picking up the next box in 2 weeks. Thank you so much!

1 huge bunch of swiss chard
1 bag of braising mix
1 small green pint basket of mixed cherry tomatoes
5 carrots
1 large sprig of basil
1 hefty bunch of chives
1 bag baby spinach
1 bag baby spring mix greens
6 asian pears
Cant wait until the week after next!
