This was a small straightforward job that should have cost about half what we were charged– we did negotiate a better price not the best price however in good faith we accepted an estimate that was grossly inflated. This low review is not due to poor workmanship but dishonest business practices. We don’t want anyone else to be caught unaware. First off, I mistakenly thought he was licensed– Second mistake was to be pressured into beginning the job sooner than arranged– third all materials were grossly marked up and included tax on marked up price(we called lumbar yard), lastly the labor estimate was outrageously high and when we asked for an explanation we were told that it was based on actual hours worked. We trusted that was true and after a couple of days realized the job would be finished and at half the hours estimated. We confronted Ted about the labor. He was unwilling to budge on the matter. Then began a series of unprofessional texts over the next few days until my husband said enough. We paid more than it was worth however if we didn’t say anything he would have gotten away with a lot of money and we would have had nothing to show for it… Find out pub front labor hourly charge and how many workers — don’t commit to flat fee unless you know the details including how long the job will take– a slight increase in materials is normal, a third isn’t.
