I needed to get away from social hour at my apartment to get some much needed Khan Academy test prep under way. I have to say this library is conveniently 2 blocks away, which scores major points for me. For others, it’s super close to the North Quincy MBTA stop and is surrounded by places nearby to grab a boba drink or shake before hitting the library and there are some decent dinner options post library time, too. Limited hours are a bit of a bummer — I wish they were open mornings! They’re also closed on Fridays and Sundays. This is a good spot for tweens to stay out of trouble! Although it’s small, it serves as a decent hang out spot for kids to read comics, study, or play cards after school. There’s a young adult section on the lower level, which is where I ended up having to go to plug my laptop in since there are no outlets where the main level tables are placed. This area was semi noisy, then very noisy, then became quiet for the last half hour the library was open as the tweens settled into their comics. There doesn’t seem to be a quiet zone or area dedicated to studying since the library itself is so small. There were a couple of rooms for group study on the upper level. Some desktops are available, too. Wifi is free. The librarians at circulation are super nice and helpful(one helped me find an outlet). Surprisingly full of people for a Thursday afternoon or perhaps seemingly full since it’s a cozy space. A good place for youth in this neighborhood.
