I Absolutely LOVEKC’s! Yes, so it may not be the end all be all for the high end dealer, but trust me, there is PLENTY of good cards and memorabilia to keep you occupied for hours. not to mention Kenny is one of THE nicest people in the world. this is a great place for not just the serious collector, but fantastic for the beginner(he has 4 large drum bins, one for each major sport. and sells random packs in cello(you can see the top and bottom card) 3 for a $ 1!). talk about an amazing way to get your collection going, or adding to it. Sean O… I’m sorry you had to experience that. Kenny is a GREAT guy and he must have had a very good reason that did not warrant an explanation due to personal reasons. I HIGHLY recommend KC’s for all ages and levels of collectors. and to pop in and grab a 3 for $ 1 or an early 1900’s baseball card that you can’t find anywhere, and have a chat with Kenny and the patrons. it’s a sports fan/collectors Cheers!

Like most specialty stores, classic sports memorabilia shops are a dying breed, with all of the autographs and kitschy sports memorabilia you could ever want waiting for you on ebay and around the ‘net. But accidentally happening upon KC’s while in Quincy Center for a meeting made me want to seek down more of these old gems. The joy of discovery here was what made the experience great: everywhere you turn, a new and interesting plaque or puck or collectible that you never would have thought of googling for. KC’s has pretty much every major sport represented with shirts, cards, plaques, banners, stickers, etc., as well as your obligatory giant stacks of 90s sports cards(fun to flip through to see the«hot prospect» cards of players who fizzled out). A word of warning — if you’re a serious fan of one of the Boston teams, do *not* expect to just walk around and browse and not buy anything because something WILL become the apple of your eye at some point. For me, it was an Andy Moog signed plaque. Moog was the Bruins’ goalie when I was just a little tyke and has always been one of my favorites. Ken, the owner, is awesome and helpful, and chatted with me about the Bruins, the ebbs and flows of buying and selling autographed merchandise(comparing it to the stock market), places to eat and drink near the store, and historic sites in Quincy.

after a visit to the greatest place on earth and remarkable confluence of events which included seats above the visitor’s bullpen, the visitors being the indians, dating a clevelander, david wells and about 47 beers, i found myself in possession of several game balls from opening day at yankee stadium, one of which was autographed by the aforementioned, and rather large, man who is, after all, just 1 of 17. 5÷17÷98 + «half drunk» = american hero. so. .. all kidding aside i found myself in need of a place to keep my balls and found it at kc’s in qc. for $ 3/each i got some cases to protect my delaware river mud and sharpie ink from the sun and curious paws. kc’s is stuffed to the gills with memorabilia of all kinds — cards, jerseys, balls, pucks and pics(notably one of larry bird and dr. j choking the shit out of each other — ) and is just generally awesome. looks like it’s been there forever. obviously, there is a heavy lean towards boston teams, but have no fear, kc has stuff from good teams too. while i wouldn’t hold out hope for that greg louganis autographed speedo, heroes from past and present and all major(i.e. «real») sports are well represented. prices seemed reasonable too. with memorabilia & autographs, it’s all relative but i didn’t think $ 200.00 for an ortiz autographed ball or $ 100.00 for a pedrioa ball was unrealistic. lots of autographed stuff is available in the $ 40 — $ 100 range and everything i saw was authenticated. if you have a sports fan in your life, or are one yourself, stop in and check it out. kc’s is located conveniently in quincy center and is easy to get to by car or t. he takes plastic but, when i asked, he replied«cash is king.» and here i always thought it was«cassius clay.» learn something new every day.
