Food is good here and it beats traveling to the city for Kati roll but its just a tad salty for my taste.

I’ve ordered the chicken and lamb combo platter a couple of times. The first time was good, albeit the portion was on the small side, but the taste was okay. The next time there was hardly any lamb in either of the chicken/lamb combo plattes ordered, almost all chicken. The food is expensive for the amount of food, and nothing so amazing to warrant the price either. A good option when it’s the only thing open, but given other choices, this isn’t the first place that comes to mind to order from.

Not a place which I would try out again. The toll was kind of burnt. Not appetising. Not really tasty. Better places to try around.

When they say spicy they mean spicy! Anyways, it was too salty the lemonade had a huge hunk of ice, and couldn’t even get the straw though(very very very sweet) delivery took over an hour. The fries were mediocre. Probably better off buying from the halal cart down the block.

I’ve only had the lamb over rice while I was at work… Yummy very flavorful! Delivery wasn’t bad either

Late night munchies and craving Indian food, I decided to dine out in Queens. Pani puri(crisp shells filled with Chick peas & potatoes with tamarind/mint/cilantro infused water) $ 3.50 Unda roll(Flatbread coated with fresh eggs, stuffed with chicken for $ 1 more, diced tomatoes & caramelized onions topped off with cilantro chutney) $ 9.00 While the Unda roll was delicious, something new to try. I was less than impressed by the Pani puri. I will stick to samosas. It was my mistake to hope that this would serve as a substitute. Boy was I wrong. The two male staffers(one manned the cash register while the other cooked but eventually went into the kitchen too) were very friendly. Super helpful with deciphering the authentic names for their dishes. It’s a small space with limited seating.

I’m not impressed at all. Poor excuse for Kati Rolls to be completely honest. Here’s what I ordered via Seamless: + 2 chicken kati rolls + 2 lamb kati rolls + mango lassi — — — — — — — — — — — — - + Their kati rolls lacked flavor and totally OVERPRICED. Too pricey for such small kati rolls that have no flavor and barely any meat. + The mango lassi was gross and a bright orange color, which arrived half spilled. So that was a waste. — — — — — — — — — — — — If you want a quality kati roll and don’t mind paying $ 2 more, make the trek out to the city and visit The Kati Roll Company.

I honesltly wasn’t expecting much from this place. It was open late and that was our main reason for checking it out. To our surprise we found a cool spot you will likely frequent. I’ve had halal and I’ve had Indian but I have never tried a Kati roll. Naturally since the place is named Dhruv’s Kati Shack I had to try one. I had the regular chicken kati roll and my son had the buffalo chicken kati roll. We also had some masala fries and upon checkin I received an offer for a free order of deep fried oreos. I showed my phone to the guy at the counter and he told me sorry but this promotion is over and it didn’t seem like he would honor it. I explained to him the offer was still valid and showed him where I was redeeming it and he said okay fine I will give it to you. We sat down and waited for our food and it was already approaching midnight when we had arrived. According to Unilocal the place was open until 2am but one of the employees told us that they close at midnight in the summer due to less traffic from the nearby college so it’s not nearly as busy however we did not leave the restaurant until 12:20AM and at no point did we feel rushed to eat or forced to leave. The kati rolls were great. The standard chicken one has lime and cilantro, mmmm lot’s of cilantro. The dough is somewhere a cross between roti and what you would expect a blintz to be wrapped in. The meat was super tender and flavorful. Sweet and spicy and tamarind sauces are provided on the tables along with ketchup but I always get white sauce. Their white sauce was good and had a lot of fresh dill it it. It seemed more authentic than what you get at halal carts eventhough this restaurant’s concept is pretty much street food served at a casual restaurant. The restaurant itself was clean with a few tables and some stools at the storefront. There was this one fly in there that was a little bothersome but it happens. They left the kitchen door open so that we could see the food being prepared. As we ate another one of the employee’s was enjoying a kati roll as well. Most employees don’t eat the food at the places they work but seeing this gave me great confidence in knowing the food is being prepared well with quality products and there isn’t any funny business going on in the kitchen. The masala fries were good without being overly spicy. We grabbed our drinks ourselves as they weren’t served to us at the counter so we just assumed they were self serve. That’s fine as this isn’t a fancy restaurant. The deep fried oreos were a great dessert but by this time we were already quite full so we saved half of them for later. You get four with each order and they do not skimp out on the dough. That same employee went on to tell us more about the place and told us to let him know if we need anything at all and even offered us a loyalty card to get a free kati roll in the future. He was so friendly and interested in engaging us I had assumed he was one of the owners or managers but he told us he was just an employee. I was really impressed by his customer service and the extra effort. Now that’s how you treat a customer! This place is definitely winning in my book. I will be back soon to try more of their dishes.

When this place first opened, I was so excited. My friend gave me the heads up and my hubby and I headed right over there. The kati rolls were amazing! I returned twice that same week. The Keema roll was so flavorful and became our fav. And then… they closed, for renovation. My husband and I were devastated. We managed to stop by a Kati Roll(different establishment) while in the city, but much to our disappointment, found their rolls to be way too salty. We couldn’t finish it. A week, later, we noticed that Kati Shack was up and running. We ordered our regular rolls but this time, we noticed that these rolls were really salty too, not as salty as Kati roll, but definitely lacked the robust flavor we loved and now had more salt. Not sure if it had anything to do with the recent closing? I don’t know. We will still return again in hopes that our last visit was just an off night. Will update this when we do!

Placed an order through the phone for Delivery. Decided to try this based on a friend’s recommendation and OMG the food was not only HORRIBLE but spoiled … The Pani Puri was like having a Rotten Cardboard in my mouth !!! I didn’t even bother trying the RasMalai and the rolls were made with frozen pratatha/bread which was horrible … AVOIDTHISPLACEATALLCOST, GAVEMESUCH A NASTYTASTE …

Reviewed already for the shop — but this is for their stand at lic flea. Holy. Cow. First off, get here early. They get packed and super busy. Rightfully so. The spice — amazing. Seasonings — unbelievable. The indian style bread was perfectly flaky and absorbed all of the awesomeness contained in the meats. Had the beef, lamb and chicken. Marilyn, Paul and myself were in agreement — the flavor came through in the meats and just worked so well with the seasonings. No condiments needed. Ugh. Typing this is getting me hungry again…

After hitting up a bar where the kitchen was long closed, we got the munchies and decided to go to a lounge and grab some grub there. So we parked down the block and started walking to the lounge, as we walked we caught a glimpse of the Kati shack, open and bustling. We walked in and glanced the menu. One roll was about $ 5.50 while two were $ 7.50. It only made sense to get 2, or so we thought. Genesis, a sweet, lovely girl, who was working the counter, put in our order. We got 4 rolls, 2 waters, wings and masala fries, all for $ 20. Upon checking in on Unilocal,we got free fried Oreos! Sweet! While we were there, some patrons really helped us out and gave us tips on the food and whatnot. We use their advice to decide on what we wanted to eat; moreover, had a nice convo with them. While paying for wings, my friend was being a cheapy and didn’t want to break a bill – we were short 43 cents.($ 5 wings+fries) Genesis, the counterperson, was nice enough to dig up out her tip jar to pay for the difference. Surprised, I went over and handed her a $ 50 and used that to pay instead. I was shocked that she offered to do that; it was a very nice gesture from her end. 16 minutes later we had our food, brought up to our table. The food was homestyle and pretty damn delicious. The masala fries hit the spot, and weren’t overdone. They had a spiciness to them that you won’t find in fries coated with ‘chaat masala’. We started munching away and barely touched the second rolls! That’s how they get you! I figure they made at least a dollar on the roll even if it did go to waste. Genius! We had some great conversation with the guys working there and the patrons. Everything was seamless and friendly; it just felt very homely. Although we were loud and obnoxious, they didn’t seem to care. They enjoyed some of our tipsy talk and didn’t mind joining in. I’ll be sure to come back and order delivery.

I really want you and I to like this place, but this review is in progress. Dhruv has an extensive menu with a lot of items that teeter between delicious and stoner-licious. Thus far my experience with their kati rolls has been either ROCK! or roll… HIT– The ground chicken in the KEEMA Kati Roll was well seasoned and spicy yet still juicy. Best item I’ve had here. MISS– While the chicken and lamb rolls were stuffed with a lot of meat, the chunks were TOO big, meat not tender enough to bite through, and seasoned as much as a «spin in a bowl» right before wrapping as opposed to marinating for several hours. The staff are very friendly and welcome criticism/adjustments to one’s taste, however I have mentioned specifics on my second go around, but left with the same product as before. To wrap this review, I think this spot has potential based on their extensive menu, hours and friendly atmosphere, but it’ll take some time before I crave anything here. I see myself coming back, but only for a late-night bite.

I ordered: Chicken Biryani, Keema Kati, Shack Special… I wish I could tell you how it tasted or what it looked like or whether it was warm… but I can’t! The reason is that I ordered it at 8:45 pm with a 30 – 45 minute delivery estimate and it is now nearly 10:30. So far… those orders are but a dream in my stomach. Lesson learned… never order delivery from this place. It sounded so good too!

I wanted so badly to like this place. We got delivery, and the rolls were all very soggy and not warm. Maybe if we ate at the restaurant it would have been better, but I’ve gotten kati rolls delivered from other places before and they didn’t arrive this soggy. The unda roll had like no flavor. An achari paneer roll was missing from my order, and the driver said he would come back. Someone called me when the driver got back to the restaurant, and whoever was on the phone insisted the roll was in the bag. It wasn’t. The driver did come back quickly, within 10 minutes probably. The achari paneer roll tasted better than the unda roll, but still left something to be desired. We also had the Philly Cheesesteak roll, which is not worth getting. It wasn’t like an Indian twist on Philly Cheesesteak, it was more like a plain fajita with no added chutney or Indian spices. The masala fries were okay, but nothing special. I will forever compare every kati roll place to Spice End in Philly. So far, nothing has come close.

Never order delivery from here. Masala Fries were tasteless and soggy. It’s 2015 — who delivers fried goods in a sealed Styrofoam container?! The Kati rolls were average, but dry. They gave me absolutely zero dipping sauces when I explicitly requested extra dipping sauces! Who eats Kati rolls with zero dipping sauces? Delivery got here in 40 minutes. So that’s the 1 star.

Was out here on a random night walking the streets(not doing anything suspicious, just needed some fresh Queens air) and came across this shack factory. Got the craving and jumped in. Got the Lamb Kati Roll. Actually two of them – because I needed another. Nice soft roll and tender meat. There was quite a diverse and extensive menu, so I might swing in for the other offerings one day.

LOVETHISPLACE! Came by one night and ordered the Lamb Kati Roll — was amazing and definitely hit the spot! The option to have the wheat flatbread was a HUGE bonus, especially considering I asked for extra sauce and needed to find a way to stay healthy. You can tell the ingredients are fresh when you devour the rolls. The service is also really great and the guys are super nice. Ended up ordering two rolls just because it was that good! Check it out for yourself! Will definitely be back.

Before I start let me just say this might be lengthy, just need to get everything off my chest about this place. For starters this place is open until 2 and 4 am some days which is awesome. It was Christmas Eve and I was riding around with my girlfriend looking for someplace to eat, and we kinda just stumbled into the Khati shop, mainly because they were basically the only decent place open At the time. Inside has a nice vibe overall, and it was very clean. Upon entering the person up front was really nice and cool, and really helpful when it came to suggesting food for us to try. In the end I had the buffalo chicken Kati roll and my gf the keema Kati roll, and they were both excellent. Seasoned well and all. In addition we both ordered the masala wings and fries, hands down the best wings and fries I’ve had in a long while. The chicken was seasoned down to the bone, and there really isn’t any need for sauces, it’s that good. The fries were seasoned with the same spices I guess as the chicken and they were great. They even gave us free desserts to try, sorry I don’t remember the name of them, but it was good, that’s all that matters. If you want to try their food definitely go for it, believe you won’t be disappointed. This is my new go-to-spot.

Came here a few days ago with a friend prior to our bargain Wednesday movie outing at the nearby Bombay Theater. The staff members were all very friendly and provided lots of suggestions on what to get. I opted for 2 of their chili cheese kati rolls, which came with 2 small containers of condiments(1 small tub of chopped chili peppers and 1 small tub of some spicy red sauce). The rolls were fine, but I was expecting paneer instead of melted cheese(I know, I know. That seems presumptuous of me when the name of the dish is chili cheese kati roll and not chili paneer kati roll). My friend liked her rolls as well(she got an unda roll and a chopped chicken roll), but we both agreed that we liked the Kati Roll Company in the city more. Wish I got to try their fries and their chaats as well. Perhaps another time.
