I stumbled on this place passing through town and it did not disappoint. My friend got the fat boy and I got a garden gobbler and neither of us were left for want. The portions are generous and the food has great quality to it. I’d definitely return if I’m in the area. Also, if it’s your thing, they have a food challenge that no one has yet won. Give it a try if you think you can handle your stomach exploding lol.

Definite greasy spoon if you like that. Large portions for sure. Just not my style for breakfast.

Great breakfast with Mom. How do they fit so many veggies into an omelette? The eggs over medium were just as they should be and the country fried potatoes were perfectly crisp. Next time I’ll venture out and try the crab cake Hollandaise or the corned beef with eggs. Just a bit tricky to find coming from the north on 41. But so worth the effort.

Last year, February, 2015 the food was very good. A week ago, January 2016, had corn-beef hash – very tasty, but under-cooked and very little of the corn-beef was present.

Delish. Between dine-in and take out, it gets slammed on weekend mornings and you’ll probably wait awhile for your food, but it’s worth it.

Very nice and clean facility! Friendly people and atmosphere. Wait staff is excellent and the food is on point! I enjoyed crab cake salad and my husband had the Cob salad arranged to his liking! The owner of this establishment has successfully succeeded in retaining us for lifetime customers!

What is there not to like about this place! First time here, the food was outstanding and the service was as fast as it could possibly have been. Waitress was funny which is a big thing with me. I hate getting somebody with a sour look on her face like you’re just mad to be alive. I would suggest this place for anybody coming through this area.

Decided to try John Ski’s Breakfast House this morning after reading other reviews. We were not disappointed. Food was very good, the place was packed, and service was excellent. Very hearty portions that neither myself not my husband could finish. My husband had one of the day’s specials which was a turkey omelette(he opted to replace with ham) filled with cream cheese, and cranberry. Included with his meal were toast and strawberry yogurt. I ordered Mama Ski’s platter consisting of eggs, pancakes, toast, ham(or choices of bacon or sausage) potatoes(I ordered the country style). I chose pancakes but could have opted for French toast. The pancakes were the size of a large platter and very fluffy. Our eggs were cooked to perfection and my ham steak was delicious. Our server was Courtney(Goose) so ask for her if she is working. She answered every question we had, anticipated our needs, refilled our coffees, etc. All done with a smile and a cheery disposition. She’s a gem! If I had one complaint I would have to say it was the coffee. Not a great blend to go with some really good food. We highly recommend this place but don’t expect a fancy place. Kind of a hole in the wall type of place but friendly and comfortable. We will be back!

we aren’t in touristy sanibel anymore… on our drive back to TPA from sanibel, we longed to find a place for breakfast away from the jaws of tourist-ville. enter john ski’s! what a fantastic display of neighborhood feel/southern hospitality/good people. –loved their take of eggs benedict — the mediterranean benedict served on grilled flatbread with spinach/feta(no bacon) was gobbled up fast. –my son is a pretty good eater but i could tell he was more than pleased with his kiddo meal of 2 silver dollar(chocolate chip) pancakes, chunky sausage and eggs(all for $ 6). –husband enjoyed his pork loin sandwich with onion petals. they refilled our son’s sippy cup with milk for the road with a smile(no charge) and were just so warm and inviting.

Great lunch. Huge portions of really good food. I had the Tim-ski sandwich. I think it was a burger with a sausage patty, with kielbasa, bacon, egg and cheese. Crazy. Others had club sandwiches, crab cake sandwich, and a burger with spinach and cream cheese. All good! We will be back soon. Yum

Being from out of town didnt know what to expect. From the outside it didnt provide much insight. The reviews are dead on. Fresh food and a fair price. Had their moms ski and wife had the Mediterranean benedit. It was amazing. The service was very friendly and right on target with service. Definitely worth the try.

Parked in the grass! That’s what they said plenty of room for a 18 wheeler. Trying to find places other than the truck stops, looks like I haven’t had much trouble yet!

This place was crowded when We get here but still some tables so We don’t have to wait. they had a large menu so We take some time to know what We are going to eat. The price is very normal We order a regular. Breakfast some eggs, bacon, toast and coffee. My wife take a omelet with chicken and mushroom. They bring the coffee and orange juice. when the breakfast come was a huge plate They take the fat kid logo very personal. I think you need to come starving to eat all the food lol… Great for people with good appetite . The food was good, the staff very attentive. Good for large families and friends.

Great spot for breakfast. The ambiance is very«no frills» and local yokel. You will see a diverse crowd here. Retirees, young families, and overtanned guys with mullets all come to this place for breakfast. Service was great and friendly. I ordered corn beef hash, which was actually homemade and not from a Hormel can. I really loved their country potatoes, which were real potatoes cut into large rounds and fried. I liked that these came from real potatoes and not out of a frozen hashbrowns bag. I loved the buttered rye toast. I love when restaurants butter your toast while it is warm and save you the work. The pancake was tasty and HUGE, but it was very dense and heavy. I usually prefer much lighter and fluffier pancakes, but that is a personal preference. Breakfasts run around $ 8 – 10. It is a nice little spot and not a chain, so I will return when I am in the area.

We ate here after searching«best breakfast» in Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte. Wow, we were very impressed with biscuits, gravy, eggs, patty and link sausage, and great coffee. Could we ask for more? service was great. We’ll be back! Dave and Sandy

I don’t suppose one more five star review is going to change anyone’s opinion of John Ski’s but I feel compelled to add my two cents. Having just spent my first winter in Punta Gorda and having sampled most of the eating places I must say after about half a dozen visits to John Ski’s there are not enough stars to fill this review. Quality, quantity and service — all over the top. This morning really blew my mind. My wife wanted pancakes, no big deal right? A couple of weeks ago they had multi-grain pancakes on the special menu but not today. On a hunch she asked if her pancakes could be multi-grain even though they were not on the special. Server did not blink an eye, they must have made them from scratch just for her! I wanted a fish poorboy that is on the menu, holy cow! After eating my fill I came home with two complete filets for supper tonight. I’m more of a fan of quality rather than quantity and the quality was another five stars. I’ve had a couple variations of their Egg Benedict, most notably the crab. Words fail to describe how good they are. The country potatoes are a meal in them selves. I’ve had to ask the server to tell the kitchen to give me perhaps a quarter order. As far as pancakes I order a short stack and still take half home. There’s one notable server, I think her name is Margie — what a jewel. Always smiling, always one step ahead of the customer. It’s worth the wait!
