Maybe it’s just me, but when I see a classical-style building with the word«AMERICANA» written over the door, I have to go inside. Fortunately, the John Carter Brown Library is amazing both indoors and out. The library is home to a massive collection of books, maps, and manuscripts relating to colonial North and South America. Although it is located on the Brown campus, it is run independently and is therefore much more accessible to the general public than Brown’s other libraries(with the possible exception of the Hay). Even if you have no use for their collection, stroll in to see the gorgeous reading rooms and paintings, or check out a lecture or exhibitions. Walk by the building and I bet you won’t be able to resist it either.
