I used to frequent this cigar lounge but it has gone severely downhill. I went back there with several of my friends and I was discriminated against. I went to buy a cigar and was refused service for an illegitamate reason. I had been in the lounge several days prior when a customer I did not know got rowdy. The management then took my credit card information to add me to a «list» where I would now be refused service even though I had nothing to do with the incident. Their rationale for this refusal of service without proper reasoning shows a lack of respect for their customers. I was treated extremely rudely while attempting to calmly correct and explain the situation. I am disgusted by the way I was treated and will be taking my business elsewhere henceforth.

I love this place I drive down Boston every other Saturday to have a Cigar and some whiskey. The variety of both cigars and whiskey is amazing. Service is always great.

I’ve been here twice and each time, I wasn’t impressed. It’s a large establishment and has a big dance floor, but it just isn’t as good as other bar/lounges in the area. First of all, the music is awful. This DJ loves to take a song and interject another song in the middle of a really good part of the beat. Please stop. I absolutely love strobe lights, but these are somehow situated at the wrong angles and simply don’t add the effect that it should. Drinks were ok. I felt like they could have been stronger. However, one side of the bar charges more than the other. My friend ordered a Bud Light and was charged $ 4 from one side but $ 5 from the opposite bar. Not that a dollar really makes a difference, but the point here is there’s no consistency. Outside, there was a fist fight between a shirtless guy and some other bro. Heading outta here, one of the security guards punched a guy in the face. Why, I’m not sure, but this place clearly attracts trouble and it seems like something is always going on. I’d avoid this place entirely.

I came here for a networking event and it seems like an okay place. There was a loop of event photos playing on their TV screens which definitely showcased the place as a rowdy college bar but on a Wednesday night it seemed like a good place to grab a drink! Good beer list and can’t speak for the food but a lot of bar space so you’re bound to find a seat here!

Pluses — good food, good selection of beers, lots of TV’s, 30¢ wings all day every day. Minuses — absolutely atrocious service(no excuse whatsoever to not greet potential customers for 7 minutes when they walk in), out of whack prices on the said selection of beers, did I mention the high prices and shitty service? It was my first time there, and it was a Saturday night around Christmas with a PC/URI game on and a drunken Santa crawl popping in. So, I’ll give it another chance or two based on the good food alone. Honestly though, you’ll be out of business within a year if you don’t tone down the beer prices. There are just too many other options around.

There are some pretty tough reviews for this place, so we were a little unsure of what to expect. But we’ve been a couple times and sure enough there are some good and not so good things about the place: + clean and smoke-free on the bar-side + wait staff seems very friendly + decent pub food + plenty of tv’s(though if you sit at the bar you will have to ask to have the bar lights dimmed or you’ll go blind trying to watch anything) + decent bottle selection — taps are less than inspiring — no prices on the menu for beer and the when you ask you’ll find them high($ 8.50 for a 12oz can of Foolproof? $ 12 for a Spencer Trappist?) — waitstaff has no beer training(everything is served in an iced«pint» glass). — speaking of pint glasses — these are NOT full 16oz pours. We emptied our 12oz bottled beers into the glasses and they were within a ¼″ of the top. Then we noticed the thick base at the bottom of the glass. Sorry, but that’s a bush-league bar-foul. Wanted to like this place but can’t support that kind of nonsense.

This is for the Cigar bar only. Went there on a Tuesday night, there were a handful of people there, mostly business men. The atmosphere is great, they have a nice bar area and nice leather chairs throughout, some in groups of 2 others in groups of 6. We were immediately helped by someone to chose a cigar, basically told him what we were looking for and he recommended some cigars. Upon sitting the waitress came right over with a bar menu and went through some choices with us. The place did fill up quickly and was louder than your typical relaxing cigar bar but it was perfect. Everyone was just having a great time and we were very relaxed. The waitress was very attentive. Overall this is a great stop for a nice night enjoying a cigar and some whiskey. I did like that they have a coat rack before you walk in so your coat won’t smell upon leaving.

This place is incredibly loud and they keep their windows wide open so the whole neighborhood can hear their bass. The clientele are also obnoxious and stumble in the street drunk and screaming late into the night. I wish the city would do something about it

We rolled in here on Tuesday night. Music was kicking and high bpm. Bartenders were fast and ladies were beautiful.

This place is so cool! First of all you’re on a cobblestone road, you walk up to be greeted by a very large gentleman holding a cigar the size of a tree trunk, he welcomes you in and we go to the bar, we order our respective drinks, go in to the superman undersized cigar booth, crammed in there the ten of us as the cigar aficionado on site explains to us our choices based on what we like. We pay a reasonable amount of money given the cigar you chose, sit down, develop cancer from the second hand smoke from the entire place and relax. I will give it that it is quire well ventilated abut if you are at all sensitive to a little bit of smoke this may be difficult to handle. I do enjoy this place and will be back for sure when I am in Providence again.

Four Stars for the atmosphere, Two stars for the food, and Three stars for the service. The atmosphere is extremely comfortable. Patrons have the option to sit at tables or in leather armchairs. I go for the arm chairs, because they are extremely comfy and are near the TV’s, which are large and great for sports games. It’s often quite dark, which I enjoy for a comfortable atmosphere. It’s often very empty, which is surprising. The food, unfortunately, is always overcooked for me. I stopped ordering burgers there because they had a surprisingly strong taste of propane, which I did not believe was possible. Hanley’s needs to get their gas system checked, because the last burger I ordered was charred black on the outside, yet they served it anyway. The service is average. The waitress I’ve gotten quite a few times is very stand-offish, and seems to not enjoy her job. It makes ordering very uncomfortable. I will give Hanley’s a few more tries before not going at all. This place is definitely more for the adult crowd, but the food requires a serious rehaul.

The burger alone makes it worth at least 4-stars, but the rest of the experience was just okay.(Not«just» okay, but okay. LIke… A-OK.) So, in confusion I give them three stars. My friend and I went on a Thursday to tackle the Big Burger Blowout. I was freezing underneath the fans, and it was a little empty, but that’s not something that I discredit them for. I was just excited for the burger. And it was WELLDESERVED because it was a beast and it was awesome, and the thousand island dressing + egg + onion ring = Genius! Plus – the Sweet potato fries! Sweet Mother of God! How could I forget?! They are wedge cut, perfectly sweet, absolutely amazing. My friend and I were nonviolently fighting over them. The waitress hadn’t seemed super thrilled to be waiting on us up until this point, but when she saw that we cleaned the plate, she said we were only the second people to do so(the ones who preceded us were also«tiny women.») That’s right, gentleman. This burger requires more man than you got to finish it. Just sayin.

Where to begin? First impression; wide open floor with two bars and pub tables. First table we tried all the chairs ‘wobbled’ second table the ‘wobble’ was less pronounced. TONS of beers. Everything from a bottle to a tower, all styles. The margarita was good. This is pub food to be sure. Burgers and fries. The fish taco was made with frozen fish but the ‘cuban’ got raves. The sweet potato fries are huge and the french fries good. By 11PM this place is a rockin’ night club w/cover charge. Come for the dancing, not the food. Wait staff are friendly and competent.

Nice cigar bar! Had a couple of drinks and a smoke. Great furniture and décor. A little smokier than most cigar bars. Still a great place to get out of the rain

The girl who waited on us at the bar was very nice, attentive and pleasant. The other bartender seemed to have an attitude and was on her phone texting the whole night ignoring patrons at the bar with her back turned. Also beer list should have prices $ 11 for a bottle is a little over the top

We went here Monday night to watch the college football game and it was pretty empty. They have a fantastic beer selection, but this is probably their only claim to fame. I’m not a big beer drinker and prefer to drink wine. They had Merlot, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay as options… that’s it. Very disappointing as most bars should have a variety of wine, but I know this is an ale house so I kept an open mind. My open mind quickly closed when I received my turkey club sandwich. I would call it more of a bread sandwich with a slice of turkey. It was the saddest turkey club I have ever seen and had to ask the waitress for more turkey. The group I was with couldn’t believe it either as most turkey clubs are overflowing with the meat. My husband had a burger which was nothing special and a friend of mine had the Cuban sandwich which couldn’t have been that good because he left almost half of it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him leave food on a plate. The others shared nachos which were also mediocre. At 11, the sports bar turned into a dance club and that was our cue to leave, despite the fact that the game was still on. I could understand if it was a Friday or Saturday, but Monday night during the college final. Really? It was too loud to hear myself think and quickly ended our already not so good experience.

The Good ol’ boys club! Great cigars, I had a small vanilla one, can’t remember the specific name, but it was good for my first. I also tried scotch for the first time which was great with the cigar. They served me a large glass of prosecco, which went lovely with the occasion, comfy chairs, sports screens, overall a really nice chill layout. I would definitely go again!

So we(6 of us) arrived around 11:45pm. It was only $ 5 for a cover, which is pretty decent for a Friday night. We went to the bar right by the entrance and noticed that our shoes were sticking intensely to the floor. I actually had to pull my foot up off the floor. My Jack & Coke was $ 8 and was in about a 10oz cup. My friend got a Jack & Ginger, We only stayed an hour. The dance floor was so crowded which is expected on a Friday night. The crowd was pretty young(I’m 22 but my friends are 25+) so there was a lot of grinding, etc. I was sad to see that this wasn’t a sports bar and was a dance club. We did enjoy looking into the cigar bar next door.

I’m going to throw this out there: I don’t really understand all of the negative reviews surrounding Hanley’s Ale House. I stopped in to grab a couple of pints and some lunch with a friend who was visiting me from out of town. The place was empty, which normally is not a very good sign. I was greeted by a very pleasant waitress named Heather, who offered me my choice of seats. Our waitress took the time to engage in some polite chit chat with us. She offered us all of her suggestions on both the food and the booze. I opted for the house ale, which was cheap, light and crisp. As for food, I chose the pork belly mac & cheese. As my own belly would tell you, I have a weakness for pork belly. And let me tell you, it was worth it. Cheesy, rich and delicious, it was definitely one of the best mac & cheeses I’ve ever had. My friend ordered a bowl of New England clam chowder, and she said she enjoyed it. After our meal, the restaurant manager came over to check on us and make sure everything was okay. He was very friendly, and took the time to ask if we had any comments or questions. The atmosphere of Hanley’s is what you’d expect from an «ale house». The establishment presents itself as a comfortable pub during the day, somewhere where you could meet for lunch with friends. It would also be a great place to catch a football game. Every table seemed to have the perfect view of at least one television. My entire experience at Hanley’s was awesome. The service was wonderful, the food was great, and the place was clean and comfortable. I plan on coming back at night, where I’ve heard the bar fills up with a young, attractive, fun crowd. If you’re in the area, give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

Medium-sized but very capable humidor Friendly staff Mellow mood has got me… darlin’ I dig this place — it’s fulfilling the provenance of its corner of the building, essentially. High ceilings, sight lines out windows, to your fellow party members, and to TVs, and a ventilation system that would be wasted on virtually anything but this… and you have a recipe for a cigar lounge. And the good news is that they aren’t merely leaving it at that and resting on their laurels — the décor is dark and plush, but not overly self-serious. It’s a notch in friendliness above being purely clubby — it’s sociable and welcoming. Jakki was helpful at the humidor shelf, behind the bar, and came to check on me later to make sure I was enjoying everything. Regarding cigar availability, I was able to get a nice selection of recently-released Kentucky Fire Cured(KFC Chunky and Fat Molly among them) plus a few other staple favorites you’d expect like Drew Estate, Tatuaje, My Father, etc. Drink selection is nice — cocktails and wine are here, and I was choosing beer from a list spanning Stone IPA, Dogfish Head selections, ‘Gansett, and several more along the gamut. Friday pre-happy hour music wafting throughout were such mellow tunes as those by The Band, CSNY, Martha & The Vandellas, and the Beach Boys. Good vibrations indeed. Tom Jones’ «It’s Not Unusual» even made an appearance, which was good for a smirk. TVs were showing live sports and sports commentary on mute, as is strictly mandated by the World Federated Council On What To Show On Cigar Lounge Televisions(or WFCOWTSOCLT if you prefer abbreviations). Only knocks are the prices are good but not great(to be expected for its location), and the ventilation must fairly be classified as downright noisy. With that said, I like to splurge on the occasional cigar anyway, and what Rhode Islander doesn’t know how to speak up when required, right? This place is solid. Drop by and enjoy it.
