Delicious food. Adorable location. A great place to go as a couple.

I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews, but I’m so glad we went. Lots of gluten free options and knowledgeable kitchen staff about cross contamination. The food was fantastic, the service was great, and the outside was cozy. We’d definitely return.

Very cute space with very tasty food and drinks. I usually go on Thursday nights to listen to Becky Bass perform(which is amazing and highly recommended) The prices are a bit on the high side but the food is very good. A group of us got some things to split so we could taste a little of everything. I really enjoyed the flatbread pizzas and the caribbean scallops. The back patio area is very cute and setup nicely with tiki torches to keep the bugs at bay. Best part is that valet is free and if you go out on the hill you know what a pain parking can be!

Went here with 7 people this past weekend to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Can’t say enough good things about my experience. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and helped us pull off a wonderful surprise, as it was a surprise party. The reservations probably changed 3 or 4 times, and D’Vine was able to adjust each time. The food was very good… highly recommend the calamari, brick oven pizza, and spicy seafood pasta! The only critiques I could suggest was that the pork was a tad bit dry and the prices of certain dishes were a little high. But hey, no one’s perfect right? Overall a great experience… good to see that there are still some legitmately good Italian restaurants on Federal Hill.

I normally don’t venture too far off the beaten path when it comes to dining in Providence. Usually I stick to Thayer St and Downtown. Recently I’ve branched out to some of the Federal Hill spots off Broadway. This was one of them. Coming here wasn’t exactly my choice. I usually stick to hipper spots with a younger crowd. This place is nice but I would argue that it caters to the 40 and about crowd and might even go as far as to say 45 and older. They have a piano player, the bar is nice, and the décor gives the feeling of a finer/classier dining experience. It does feel a little forced though. The menu has quite a few decent selections; flatbreads, pastas, salads, and steak/chicken entrees. I was told the blueberry or strawberry flatbreads were very good. I considered the tagliatelle, tuna civiche, and steak frites before settling on the Jamaican jerk chicken. The menu states that this is half a chicken, which I didn’t believe at first. I was wrong. Legitimately half a chicken; wing, thigh, breast, all there. It was served with a pineapple grit cake and corn salsa. The entrée was good for the most part. I’ve been to Jamaica and thus had authentic Jamaican jerk chicken. I would say their marinade is a tad off. Too sweet/sour and not spicy enough. The skin was very crisp and while it held the flavor well as it came off the meat it left chicken that was cooked well but lacked seasoning. The grit cake was awesome but heavy. The corn salsa was average. I was disappointed something green didn’t come with this as I realized afterward that I sort of overloaded on carbs. I wasn’t able to finish the entire meal which is rare and not a good thing in my opinion. It probably means food is going to waste. They did make me a mocktail which I always appreciate. Bars that can’t make nonaloholic cocktails are not real bars. I want to give this place a 4 but overall I was lukewarm on the experience. Total meal cost was $ 35 including tip. I’d go back but probably not on my own volition.

Stopped here while taking the experience providence tour. We were able to taste the blueberry and strawberry pizza; it was surprisingly delicious. The pizza was cooked in their brick oven. The indoor area is piano bar style with live entertainment daily. In the back they have outdoor seating with a view. Friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. This is a recommend from me for great pizza and ambiance.

D’Vine… You are anything but! Where do I begin? Perhaps, at the beginning which would make the most sense… But before I do, let me just say, I have rushed home to write the first review I can recall in recent history… And this is not a good thing! First, I called to confirm there was a dog-friendly, heated, patio. Check! I thought we were off to a good start… And, initially, we were. This is where the 1 star comes in. Ginger was happy to join in the human fun. She got lots of attention, which she loved. The owner or manager(whoever stopped by initially) said to us «she is so well behaved, I wish we had a steak to give her.» Yet… no steak was coming. It was a nice thought, but an empty gesture. A good foreshadowing of what was to come… The patio was very nice, a bit cheesy, with the art deco theme, but we enjoyed the couches which were comfy and the heat lamps on a night that were perfect to warm us up in early October… Moving on… We got a couple of cocktails — the Cucumber Mint and«special» Caramel martini. I won’t lie, they were pretty good. The cheesy 80’s music, however, was not. We ordered the Bloody Mary tuna ceviche to start. I would not recommend it. I thought it might be something«different» to try… Well, different it was. I bet it would have been a lot better on its own(minus the bloody part). Next, we had the grilled veggie pizza. It was OK, but a little too heavy on the cheese. For our final course, we ordered the blueberry marscapone pizza. This was what initially brought us here. During this course, we witnessed a RAT enter the patio and dart its way across the entire length of said patio.(We being both myself and my boyfriend). When our waiter made his way back to our table and asked how things were, I let him know I was less than pleased by the rodent«sighting». He initially stated that it was«the city» and occasionally this happens. He then said he would send the manager over. Well, we waited, then waited, then waited some more. I finally got up to use the restroom and when I returned, I found him talking to my boyfriend, stating that he had the perimeter tended to for pests, and would keep an «eye open», and that he also had the valet do the same(insinuating that he did not believe what we had seen). There was no acknowledgement that we had in fact seen the rat OR that if we did in fact(we absolutely did), that this was disturbing. Perhaps, the simplest gesture: an apology would have helped the situation. But, alas, no, that would not be coming… When the waiter asked if he could bring us the check, we were taken aback. I did not expect to be comped the entire bill. Nor was this the reason for me to make such a «claim» but for the bill to remain 100% in-tact, despite witnessing a LARGERODENT scamper across the courtyard was like a kick in the teeth. I wish I had screamed or contacted the board of health(which I may still do coming Monday morning). Perhaps this would have directed the attention where it needed to be: to the issue at hand? The only thing that was more disgusting than witnessing the rat during our final course of dinner, was the disregard for our complaint and apparent disbelief. Despite the waiter’s non-chalant«this $hit happens» attitude and the valet’s «the last time I saw a rat here was a year ago» statement, nothing was done to help ease the pain of the trauma endured. Am I being dramatic? Perhaps. But, really, does this happen in any 5 star restaurants? And if it does, does it get brushed under the carpet? I think not! I, for one, will not be back to D’Vine on the hill. My final point is: I really, really like to eat. Anyone that knows me, knows this fact. I also really like to «talk up» places I enjoy. I have written 550 reviews on Unilocal. This is #16 that gets only«1 star». I hope that speaks to my street cred. Perhaps, should I have been some skeevy politician or corporate big whig, I may have been treated differently(i.e. shown some respect), but what the heads of D’Vine are not aware of, apparently, is word of mouth. I guess they have not heard of social media? There are far too many great, non rodent-infested places in Providence(including Federal Hill) to go back to a place that does not value its customers… End rant.

Nice décor, very nice staff. The outdoor seating area with the pizza oven is very nice. We loved our mascarpone blueberry pizza on gluten free crust. My friends liked their filet, chicken skewers, and gluten free pepperoni pizza. I got the margherita pizza. The toppings were ok but I find the crust to be like a tasteless, dry cracker. I left all the edges. Some people like it I guess but I prefer the round gluten free crust. The pizzas are cheaper than other places on the hill, but they are also not as good. The chocolate cake was ok but is much better at Pastiche down the street, and my friend did not like the ceasar dressing on her salad. Some good, some not so good, but I would give it another try.

Follow up: 8th and last time. Food: Not worth the value. Particularly Pizzas and Pasta. Drinks: Minimum is $ 15 for Cocktails, $ 25 for spirits, and $ 6 for Beer. Service: Quite average given the amount they charge for food. Customer Complaints: Expect to be gossiped. Ambiance: Average. Would I recommend: No and Yes. Yes if it is your first time, NO if you like to spend on what’s worth your money. Overall: I wouldn’t go back. The place strives to be Cecconi’s but service and food is akin to that of sitting in a rugged bar.

Update on my glowing original, previous review. Have been here three times. Each time service got a little worse. The loud, cigar smoking men became a litle more intrusive. Despite the lovely outdoor patio we no longer go.

Update: The good, the bad, and the ugly. The good: thin crust appetizer pizzas are still outstanding and a great deal for around $ 9/specialty pizza; the food in general is consistently good; the kitchen times and the service have generally improved over multiple visits; the Bar Bites specials are a great addition and includes $ 1 oysters at the bar(yesssss!); friendly regulars at the bar The bad: Expensive entrees for what you get; the cocktails are just so-so, I’d stick with wine/beer; parking is a pain during busy times, take advantage of the valet service. The ugly: The furniture(still hideous to me and now less comfortable after some wear) and other décor(tiered racks of wine glasses as chandeliers?) Overall, D’Vine On The Hill has really improved, especially on some of the service issues I’ve had in the past. I’ll be back for the pizza, the Bar Bites oysters, and the funny conversations I’ve had with some of the old timer regulars(hi Steve and Kenny!).

What a fine place! When we arrived we were greeted by a gentleman who I think called himself Peter. He immediately escorted us to the patio lounge where we relaxed for dinner. Our first choice was the wedge salad… the wedge of iceberg lettuce was laced with creamy homemade blue cheese dressing and surrounded by fresh and tasty accoutrements. Bravo! My wife had the pasta in a white wine garlic butter with olives, spinach, tomatoes and grilled chicken which was seasoned well and delicious. I enjoyed an apple brined grilled pork tenderloin with smoked bacon, apple risotto, and her covert. The pork was juicy, tender and delicious and the risotto was a perfect complement to the dish. The chef later approached our table to check on us and we were delighted to meet such a nice young man. I think my wife now has a crush on him. Well done D’Vine! Your service, cocktails, and food are outstanding! We will see you all again soon!

I’m not one to complain but I have to on this one. We went to D’Vine for a Holiday work party of 7 and were so disappointed! We were the only customers in the restaurant and had the worst service! After waiting for 30 minutes we finally had to ask for bread and this was given with a sour attitude. We waited over an hour for our food, two of the dishes were altogether forgotten and one dish was wrong(Chicken Saltimboca when ordered Spicey African Chicken). I will not be back! The food was just fair and definitly not worth the wait. I was surprised at this given the great reviews and also embarrassed that I had suggested the restaurant. Too many great places on The Hill for this to survive. Sad because the atmosphere was outstanding.

This place is divine! I am definitely a fan. This my go to place for great service, drinks, pizza, and pasta. Location: You can dine in multiple areas, such as the front room with live music, the bar in the middle with friendly staff making drinks in front of you, or outside on the patio by the fire in loungy sofas and chairs. Summers are really great here since the music is playing on the patio and everyone is enjoying being outside, but not right on the sidewalk on Atwells. Its tucked-away location really gives it a unique feel from the other restaurants nearby. Food: I have enjoyed everything I have had here. Favorites include mussels, cheeseburger pizza, BLUEBERRYPIZZA(must have), and their pastas are fresh and tasty. There is a raw bar, so you can def have some oysters. Drinks: Great, esp the martinis. They really know how to make a dirty one! Also, try the espresso martini if you are in the mood for desert.

I seriously love D’Vine even though the crowd is a tad more mature. I love sitting outside on the comfy sofas next the the fire-pit over looking the city as the smell of wood-fired pizza wafts through the air. Yummy! They offer happy hour specials including a baked brie that is heavenly. Don’t forget to try the dessert pizza, and ask if they have the strawberry one on special its divine!

My friend and I were overwhelmed by the menu — everything sounded delicious! So we decided to split some appetizers and create our own mini 4 course tasting. While we dined on their outdoor patio, we enjoyed live music. It’s quite a romantic setting overlooking the city of Providence(the other view is of their parking lot — just don’t look that way). When the weather gets cooler, grab a table by a firepit. I HIGHLY recommend coming here for their Blueberry Pizza — it’s unlike anything I have ever tasted. We started by sharing the Arugula Salad(Baby arugula with cranberries, candied walnuts, goat cheese & fried artichokes with preserved lemon vinaigrette. $ 9). I was pleasantly surprised that the kitchen had already split the salad for us! Now THAT is hospitality at its best! Why, hello, fried artichokes! Nice to meet you! These bites of heaven just melted in my mouth. I strongly feel that these fried artichokes should be their own appetizer dish. The salad was good, but these artichokes stole the show! We then moved on to the Ahi Tuna(Black & white sesame coated Ahi tuna seared & served cold with micro greens & wasabi sauce. $ 14). This dish was EXTREMELY fresh. The Ahi tuna was also served with a red unidentified sauce that was a little less spicier than the wasabi sauce(which had a nice za za zing to it). For our 3rd course, we split an order of the Blackened Cajun Shrimp(Blackened shrimp, dusted in our Cajun seasoning, served in a beer broth with sweet onions & tomatoes. $ 12) and the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Skewers(Marinated in a Jamaican spice rub, grilled to perfection, served with a tangy chili dipping sauce. $ 8) The shrimp were so HUGE that Bubba Gump would have been proud; the broth is addicting. I enjoyed the Chicken Skewers, but boy were they spicy! Hot like Miami, baby! The waitress slacked a little on refilling my water, so that didn’t help the situation at all. Of course, the final course was dessert. From our seat out on the patio, we were able to watch the chef create this delectable dessert and then place it into the outdoor wood burning pizza oven. Their Blueberry Wood-Fired Flatbread Pizza’s(Mascarpone cheese, fresh blueberries & powdered sugar. $ 9) thin crust was grilled to perfection. It was a light and healthy(blueberries are good for you, right?!) end to our D’vine culinary adventure.

I scooted into D’Vine On The Hill after happy hour with a few girlfriends and sat outside by the fireplace. What a lovely little area! There’s big comfy seating and a nice fire to enjoy on a warm evening. The drinks were yummy and although we didn’t eat, the menu looked great! They even cook the pizzas outside in a brick over — too cool! Drinks and atmosphere were great and I can’t wait to update my review after I’ve had the pleasure of eating here.
