Horrible experience with this establishment. Had to deal with a very rude delivery driver who complained that he did not want to make the effort of delivering my food to my apt. He was rude, nasty and yelling at me where my neighbors can hear him in the hallway. Never again will I order from such nasty people.

Shrimp Egg Foo Young was surprisingly delicious as well as the sauce on the side. Shrimp Fried Rice was great too! All for 17 bucks can’t be beat in the area!

Friendly and fast service. I tried other Chinese takeouts within the perimeter but keep going back to this place.

Very happy! Ordered delivery to work today and used online ordering, which was awesome. The food came quickly, they found our building which is tricky and called when they arrived. The food itself(sweet and sour chicken, shrimp fried rice, Singapore chow mei fun –med spicy) were very fresh, not greasy, very tasty. Very impressed with the quality of the shrimp, pork, and chicken. This your typical Chinese joint, just done quite well. We will definitely order from here again the next time the Chinese cravings hit.

Our go to items are definitely very good here. We like the egg foo young, sweet and sour chicken, and the sesame chicken. Everything else is good enough to keep us ordering. We’ve tried a few other places and Hunan seems to get the orders consistently good and better than he others we tried. Delivery is fast and accurate.

Stopped for a quick bite. Service was efficient. The food to my suprise was tasty and came out hot and pipping. Would stop by again. Recommend it to others. The chicken with eggplant and garlic sauce was a winner.

I really enjoy the chicken and broccoli, it’s our favorite! They did a great job with this dish and the owner is very flexible when I ask her to adjust for low sodium and less oil. Any restaurant owners who are friendly and willing to tailor their dishes a bit to suit your dieting style are an «A+»!!!

I’ve had to downgrade for a few reasons: 1. The owner/manager/order taker/waiter is impossible to talk to. We have always known that, but she really is difficult and the amusement is gone. Sauce on the side will get an argument(ie please take whatever deep fried thing we ordered to go with the sauce on the side so it is not a soggy and repulsive mess by the time we eat it). If you ask where they are next to, she might hang up on you(primary reason it took us 2 years to find the place). To be fair, you may not be able to ask for anything with the sauce on the side, but you can ask for no fat or cornstarch for any of the sauces. 2. Food not as good as it was. Or it was really good 3 days after giving birth to my daughter and finally being released from the hospital and remained so while I was pregnant with my second until he turned 1? 3. Eps Corner is really awesome 4. No high chairs 5. Yao’s has slower service, but the food tastes like it was made with love while the people are super nice. 6. They’re out of the fried shrimp appetizer much of the time 7. Regarding 2, we are kind of at the point that when we sit down at a place, we want the service to be good & friendly. The food here is always hot and freshly prepared, but it is not pleasant.

Yuck! Ordered three lunch meals from here today. All of the rices had an odd oder to them and a distinct foul after taste. I ordered first thing in the morning, and the food was obviously not fresh and possibly from two days ago as yesterday was Thanksgiving. Also, the lady who took my order overcharged me on everything. She even added a charge of $ 1.95 for a soda which was supposed to come with the lunch special for free. When I called back and spoke with the same lady, she blamed it on «the other girl» who did not know I wanted a can soda. Then, when I told her what I authorized her to charge my credit card she argued with me over the amount I would end up giving the driver for tip. I tried explaining to her that I am just deducting the amount she overcharged me and that she needed to give the driver the difference, which I doubt happened. In short, distasteful food, unpleasant service and deceitful business practices.

I was very pleased with the szechuan chicken I ordered. The vegetables were crisp and maintained their flavor in the not-too-overly-done sauce. I would definitely come back here and recommend it to friends.

Terrible. I didn’t think any place could do worse than Ya Ya. Doesn’t this area have good chinese food! Princeton/montgomery area is lacking. Shrimp toast– over cooked in old oil dumplings — thick chunky doughy wrapper with tastless filling beef Lo Mein — Noodle is the worst! Taste the salt but nothing else. The beef is dry, and hard to find. «Mango chicken shrimp combo» was heard as «Szechuan chicken shrimp» — I knew this was going to have an issue after the lady called backed asking if it was 2 orders or a combo. I clearly stated mango several times — I think I said it one to many times and she said screw it. «Szechuan chicken shrimp» — I can make this at home… give me a 1 ½ cups of scalion, ¼ cup each of shrimp and the below average chicken pieces, and 1⁄3 cup of soy sauce — and $ 10.50. Between the two of us we had 4 dumplings 2 pieces of toast and ¼ each of the dishes. Threw the rest away. $ 30.00 for this garbage. Please someone open a decent chineese restaurant around here!

Don’t get the reviews here. Tried this place as ya-ya noodles(or whatever it’s called) is pretty lame and the food not great. I had the healthy steamed shrimp and brown rice with vegetables(broccoli etc), That meal was great. Tasty and healthy. However my Wife’s meal was an absolute disaster. She had the Tofu(Shezuan style). So basically she got about 10 lbs of tofu with a teaspoon of sauce and about 3 garden peas. It was tasteless. the tofu not firm and vege-free. Bizarre. Why is it so hard to get decent Chinese food in Jersey?

This restaurant offers really good Chinese food for take-out. They have quick service and an extensive menu. The place is usually empty even though they have a few tables for diners. I am assuming that most do take-out or delivery. Their scallion pancakes are delicious!

5 stars for having good, authentic and inexpensive Chinese food in the Princeton University area. If I ever want Chinese food, I’ll go to Hunan if it’s open. Well worth the walk.

LOVE this place. People don’t realize that they deliver all over Princeton — and the food is always there really fast and it’s still nice and hot when it gets there. We love the General’s Chicken, which is as good as any we’ve found in the area. And the Lo Mein is really good — not too dark. They seem to have a very good grasp on spicy vs. not spicy also. When we ask for extra spicy, it’s really spicy, but when we ask for not spicy the stuff is mild enough for the kids. Highly recommend this place! We’ve tried every place in Princeton for delivery, and this is the best AND the cheapest!

I am a little bit disappointed that there’s not a lot of great Chinese restaurant in Princeton. I mean geez! We have an international crowd here and I think Chinese is what I would say the most common food that you can find anywhere… I think most of the major cities in the world would always have some sort of Chinatown. We used to go to Good Friends in West Windsor NJ which serves a decent meal, We’ve been to Sunny Garden, PF Changs, Shanghai Park and each of them would present an a-OK Chinese meal. Hunan as they claim serves Cantonese, Szechuan and Hunan dishes. I guess depending on who’s cooking your Pan-Fried Noodles could either be served with a brown sauce or the white lobster sauce, the noodles are not actually the Hong Kong style Angel Hair noodles that’s crisp to perfection but the Fried thick Noodles. Not a big fan of that. I think when you place your order you have to specify which type of sauce you want to avoid confusion. The wings was good. When we went there, there was a father and a 3 yr old son waiting for the fried wings. Father claimed that his son is gaga over that wings. Again you have the typical American Favorite Chicken with Broccoli. This restaurant is great for Take-out especially if you don’t have time to cook. The Tofu was typical nothing really outstanding. So if you need dinner, don’t want to cook and want some decent meal for the family Hunan is the place to order.

I have to concer with Angela Z’s review. It looks like your typical Chinese take-out with the same furniture, paper menus, and set up that about a million other places have.(These places must be sold as a start your own restaurant kit.) One thing I did notice the first time walking in however, was how clean the place was. I’ve been to about a million take-out places where they usually don’t care about the dining area since most of there customers are carry out or delivery. You can tell however, that this place seemed to care a bit more. The food on the other hand, is excellent. I tried the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. The shrimps were nice and large, tasted fresh, and were not overcooked. The sauce had the right consistency(not watered down), and the rice was excellent. The egg drop soup and fried won-tons were excellent as well. The portions are large, and the prices are great. The combo platters are especially a great deal. This is probably not the place to go if you want to impress a date, but if you are hungry and are looking for good food, this place is it.

Though this place doesn’t look like much, it serves up some of the best Chinese food I’ve had anywhere. They offer take-out, delivery, and eat-in dining — and from my experience all three are a good choice depending on your mood. While the food is amazing, the inside of the restaurant leaves something to be desired. Inside you’ll find all the décor you’d expect in a stereotypical Chinese restaurant — the paper lamps, fish tank, and landscape paintings. The tables and booths were new back in 1980, and I’ve yet to sit on a seat that didn’t have a tear in the upholstery. But don’t fret — on the upside, they do give you one of those paper place mats with the Chinese zodiac on them. If you’re anything like me, this will keep you entertained for at least 10 minutes while you look up yours, your ex’s, and all your friends’ birth years and decide if the animal and description is spot-on, or way off. The place is always empty — most of their business is delivery or take-out so the service is quick and you’ll have no trouble getting a seat, even on a Saturday night. And since it is so quiet, its a great place for conversation. The menu is relatively standard — General Tsao’s, fried rice, egg rolls, etc — and the prices are quite inexpensive. So after all this, why does this place deserve 5 stars? What sets this place apart is the size of the portions and the quality of the food. Everything tastes fresh and no matter what you get you’re sure to enjoy it. If you don’t, they’ll happily take it back and get you something else — no charge if you’re friendly about it. And if that isn’t enough, they serve complimentary hot tea and small appetizers so if you’re hungry when you first arrive, you don’t have to spend the next 15 minutes waiting in agony. Definitely a place to hit up if you live in or pass through the area.
