I would say if you are looking for summer blond hair, you should probably look elsewhere. This was my first time here and I was so hopeful and excited to get a new look. The experience I had at the salon had nothing to do with the staff as they were all wonderful and kind people. I went in for a full «white blond» highlights and came out with orange blonde. I called and they told me to come back in to tone it. After they toned it, it was a nice shade of brassy yellow. So they did make another attempt and «tried something different: the result was horrible. My hair was then darker then before I even walked through the doors. An ash brownish/​greenish shade with no highlights in sight. I was leaving in tears when Godfrey kindly offered to fix it and although the result was better then when I had when I left the first time it is still very red/​strawberry and not what I was looking for. I’m even more bummed that i have to shell out more money to get the «white blond» I was searching for at another salon. i was hoping to find my new go to salon but I will have to keep on searching. For the price of this salon I expected perfection and was extremely disappointed.

Godfrey did a beautiful balayage and cut my fine thin hair so it looked voluminous. I felt like a million bucks afterwards. What I like about Godfrey is that he really is the shit! He has done so much in his career but doesn’t brag. The salon owner is a very good woman and everybody is very nice and welcoming in here. When they wash your hair out you are sitting in a massage chair. What’s not to like about this place?

I have never gotten a better hair cut and highlighting in my life. Every person I walked past noticed and told me it was great more than once. I highly recommend this salon!

I have to commend Godfrey Fitzgerald for taking full responsibility for a bad service encounter. I sent Godfrey an email after the encounter. He mailed back and asked for an opportunity to speak with me. He called with his business partner. I was impressed with how they handled the situation. They emphatically acknowledged my situation and said that should not have happened. They then had the employee call to apologize for her conduct; I don’t think she should be in the service business but nonetheless I accepted the apology. In sum, I think Godfrey and especially business partner could not have handled the situation better. Therefore I’m taking down my prior complaint on Unilocal.I would give Godfrey and his partner 5 stars for the service recovery.

Omg! Zach is amazing!!! 2 years ago I started going to Zach and have been with him ever since. I travel all the way from Long Island just for a cut from him. I’m so very picky when it comes to my hair and Zach always delivers exactly what I’m looking for whether I’m just looking to get some simple layers or decide last minute to chop off all my hair and go for a long asymmetrical bob. I won’t get my hair done by anyone else.
The entire staff is super friendly and the salon itself is very relaxed and enjoyable while I wait for my appointment (which is usually less than 5 minutes). And one of my favorite parts of getting my hair done is the massage chair at the hair washing stations. Amazing! The prices are a little steep for color but you get what you pay for ya know? Despite the price, I always leave %100 satisfied and then some. If you’re super picky about your hair like I am, ask for Zach. I would recommend Zach to anyone and everyone!

I’ve been nothing but delighted by Godfrey Fitzgerald’s salon. I became a client soon after I moved to Princeton in 2006, and I’ve been loyal to the salon over three different stylists (Princessa, Godfrey, and Kim). As a full-​time student, freelance researcher/​writer, and now full-​time non-​profit fellow, I’ve found the salon’s rates to be just within my «indulgent treat once-​every-​eight-​to-​ten-​weeks» price point. (Just remember to tip in cash!)
My boyfriend has been a client at Godfrey’s salon for about a year, and he’s always happy with his men’s cut. I’m picky about his hair (!), and even I was impressed by his most recent visit. (He has complicated, semi-​curly hair.) Making my guy look cute leaves me happy!
Kim is my current stylist, and she’s a great one. She’s friendly, approachable, and makes me feel gorgeous. She’s very competent and I’m often impressed by her techniques and patient approach. Kim’s always responsive to my nice-​but-​at-​times-​critical feedback, and she’s even redone/​adjusted parts of a cut that I didn’t like at first. We often spend a ton of time on my bangs — inspired by Zooey Deschanel, but light enough for the summer. Kim’s very thorough. She indulges all of my little requests, and she makes me feel well taken-​care-​of!
I recently stopped in the salon for a complimentary walk-​in bang trim, and Zach was just as patient and sweet as Kim. He spontaneously walked me through what products would work well with my hair type. (I’ve used the fabulous Godfrey products, too — the Lava is my favorite.) I tried the product Zach recommended in one of the salon’s oh-​so-​flattering mirrors, and it was magic. Magic!
I’ve known the salon team for years, and I’ve always found them to be kind, competent, quite helpful, even hilarious. The girls up front (especially Frances!) always make me feel cute, too. I feel comfortable at Godfrey’s salon, and that’s important.
As always, I’m looking forward to my next appointment. I know I’ll walk out of the salon feeling pretty, refreshed, and eager to show off my new cut + style!

Absolutely love Zach my hair dresser. He is on point with his haircut techniques and coloring. I will forever be a fan! Godfrey Fitzgerald Salon is lucky to have him!

I have been going to Godfrey for about two years now and he never disappoints. The salon is a lovely environment, always full of interesting people. The staff and all the stylists are professional and friendly, it feels like I am getting together with friends each time I come in. Godfrey takes the time to sit and talk with you, observes your style and personality and gives you a look that compliments your spirit. I always get compliments from strangers on my color and cut, and have never been happier with my hair and look. I have been letting my hair grow out for the past several months, usually a painful process. Not so under Godfrey’s care; during the transition my hair continues to have a style and shape that holds for a couple months while growing out. Godfrey is a professional that truly cares about his business and clientele, which is clearly evident in the way he treats everyone that walks through his door; no detail escapes his attention. He has magic hands and spirit and I look forward to each and every visit and look that he gives me.

Godfrey has cut colored and styled my hair consistently throughout the 15 years I’ve known him. His salon is charming beautiful and always welcoming. He and his team did my wedding and we still revive compliments from our photos 5 years later. He’s got a unique touch that makes each cut unique. Worth a stop in to see his salon and book an appointment!

I really wish I didn’t have to leave a bad review. While the staff is outwardly courteous and I did enjoy my experience, they are super shady about pricing.
I got a color and cut and before I went in, I asked for a price quote. Once everything was done, however, my bill was more than twice than what they originally quoted, even with the student discount. They chocked this up to my «hair needing more tubes of dye» which they conveniently forgot to tell me about until the damage was done, despite the fact that when I got the price quote I was very clear about my hair length, texture, and thickness.
While the cut and color looked great, the color didn’t even last more than a month despite my care in preserving it. I didn’t even need to get a root touch up, that’s how much it faded!
Shady, dishonest, and disproportionately priced. I hate to say it, but stay away!

I have been going to Godfrey Fitzgerald Saloon for years and have consistently gotten a fashion forward cut and color. I moved to Philly a year ago and still get my hair done at Godfrey Fitzgerald. More than once a women has stopped me and asked where I got my cut and color.
I also enjoy the gracious way I am treated and love the reclining message chair when I get my hair washed.
The people who work there are talented and funny and kind…

What a fantastic Salon. I drive here from Summit to get my hair styled and colored by Kim. Now my daughter works with here. We won’t go anywhere else!

I was disappointed with my hairdresser, basically because everything I asked for she did not do. She would yes me then do her thing. First time ok, second not again. Plus they are not reasonably priced.

I feel bad writing this negative review because Godfrey is a lovely person with a great energy and wonderful personality. I just didn’t like my hair cut.
This was the first salon I went to after moving to central NJ. I think part of the problem might have been that I was spoiled by my previous stylist, who I had a long standing relationship with and who really understood my fashion sense and my hair. It was probably very naïve of me to do this, but I went to Godfrey with just some general ideas (no pictures or concrete images to show him). Though this had worked for me in the past, it didn’t work in this situation. I originally told him that I wanted to just shape my hair into an A-​line bob, with the front longer and the back shorter. Though I have fine curly hair naturally, I usually wear it blowdried so it’s straighter. I was hoping that this cut would allow me to sometimes wear my hair curly. I think that there was a lapse in communication, because Godfrey cut my hair for it to *always* be worn curly. He cut some very very short layers into the bangs which (coupled with the NJ humidity in the summer) make it virtually impossible to wear my hair straight… Every morning I wake up and it has kinked up right in the most visible place! This is very very frustrating for someone who wants to wear her hair straight maybe 75−80% of the time.
Additionally, in the middle of the haircut, he came up with some ideas to change up the look and make it asymmetrical. I don’t know why I said yes. I think it’s because I’ve never really had a negative experience with a hair cut and have always had visionary stylists who came up with looks I wouldn’t have thought of myself. And, I’m not going to lie, I felt a little pressured, since he kept saying that someone like me «needed» a funkier haircut than an A-​line bob. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a positive experience this time. He cut one side of my hair extremely short, and left a big clump of full hair on the other side. This coupled with the short layers in the bangs made for a horrific haircut that made me feel ugly every day until I went to another stylist to get it fixed. Obviously, I’m still dealing with the bangs (since that’s only going to go away with hair growth), but I was at least able to get my hair symmetrical again.
I want to reiterate that Godfrey is a very nice person and his staff are all friendly and wonderful. I think we just had some miscommunication and didn’t share the same vision for my hair. If you’re going to get a haircut with him, I recommend bringing pictures and making sure you have a thorough consultation beforehand.

The staff here is very friendly and it’s a beautiful salon but my scalp was flaky after shampooing :(and my hair was not straighten all the way. I have coarse hair and a barber in south Jersey knows how to tame it sooo nicely so I know it’s possible. I was a little sad with my results. I would still suggest trying this place if you are in the area. I don’t think it’s the best place for me though :(
I learned today that my favorite stylist Brittani recently joined this salon so I may have to give them another try. She works well with all hair types including my natural kinky hair :) 1−4−16

I was quite satisfied with the service I received! The staff is very friendly and skilled. I would definitely return, and not just for the massaging hair wash chairs!

I went to Godfrey’s salon in Dec after Christmas with my sister in law for a haircut. I normally get my hair cut for $ 20 at Astor Place Hair Cutters in NYC. Godfrey was amazing… he was so attentive and really made me feel like I was the most important person in the room! When I went back to work. I could not believe how many people… at least 6 different people complimented me on my hair cut and told me how I looked amazing. It’s something subtle… but they noticed it. They were saying exactly what he envisioned it to be…“classy” «beautiful» «sexy»! Now I care about my hair.
Update: I just went back to Godfrey last week and had another great experience. I highly recommend getting your hair done with Godfrey. He truly is an artist.

Before moving to the Princeton area, I used to go to one salon for my relaxer and a different place for my haircut, but Godfrey Fitzgerald is a one-​stop shop! I get my hair relaxed by Godfrey and he does an amazing job with my cut and styling as well. The service is professional and my appointments always start on time.
I’ve also had fabulous clip-​in extensions done by Frances!

Godfrey’s salon is a luxurious and welcoming place! Godfrey and his stylists are talented artists with the much sought after ability to give you exactly what you ask for, and more. They are warm people who have made me feel like part of their family! I highly recommend this salon!
