Authentic mexican food. Soooo goooo. The place is small and has a very home-style atmosphere. The place was a little smoky from the kitchen… But the food was so good no one cared. We got the mini empanadas, beef and fish tacos, salsa verde enchiladas, chorizo tacos, chicharon pupusas and everything was on point. Some of the best mexican food I’ve ever had. Best part is it’s BYOB.

Delighted by the past two times that we went to this place. Delicious, well served, nicely presented & reasonably priced food. Love it.

The lengua tacos were really good but I didn’t like the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and left most on the plate. Flan was a nice finish to the meal. Service was inattentive though.

BYOB Mexican-Guatemalan cuisine They serve home style Dorito chips with exotic sauces(green and salsa). Freshly made guacamole is amazing. Burritos were delish! The whole fish — was undercooked. Plantain bread butter pudding with Strawberry ice cream was too good! Service is excellent. Owner came and apologized for the fish. Said the regular chef had a day off. Took it off the bill and gave 20% discount.

I came here for my birthday this year. We were 12 people and everything went smoothly. We ordered guacamole to start, which was very good. It was pretty mild, but definitely fresh. Like a lot of the restaurants in Princeton, it’s BYOB, which is nice. For the main course I ordered beef burritos in the chile verde sauce. It was okay, but not the most flavorful Mexican food I’ve had. As the night went on, we had to get up a couple of times(ask for coffee/tea, ask for the check, etc.) Service could have been better. Overall, it was good. I’ll still opt for Tortuga’s next time.

I ate at Aurelio’s for lunch with a few friends on the weekend. The food was pretty fresh and relatively good. I wish there was a little more variety/unique options but they seem to cover all of the traditional Mexican foods. It has a classy seemingly-authentic décor. Our waitress was both helpful and sweet. Overall, I recommend eating here and will likely come again at some point.

Food was great! We stayed with the Mexican plates, but everyone enjoyed their dish– the salsas were good and fresh with a kick, and they had hot sauces too if you asked. It’s awesome this was a BYOB, we did a BYOT(tequila of course) and made margaritas at the table. Bring your own mixers! Service: less than spectacular. Granted we were there with a part of 12, but simple things like plates and water glasses we had to ask for(then wait again). One of our party members had to wait a solid 5 minutes after everyone else was served before she got her meal, and she just ordered tacos. Tip– small parking lot right before the restaurant which is a huge plus!

The worst«authentic» Mexican I have eaten. We had the chicken tacos, empanadas and mexican hot chocolate. The tacos were meh, nothing spectacular — the chicken was bland. The hot chocolate had a weird offensive smell. After ordering the tacos to share between two, we wanted no more, but the waiter told us that we would be charged extra for sharing the plate unless we ordered another dish. Fair enough, so we ordered the empanadas — HORRIBLE! Absolutely no taste whatsoever, not even salt. To make things worse they were soggy from all the cream cheese sauce and lettuce that they were topped with. Never going back here and would strongly NOT recommend.

Great place! I would highly recommend it. My favorite is the Guatemalan Breakfast. Fantastic.

The food was just ok. We ordered the mixed enchiladas and tacos. Unfortunately, what came out wasn’t exactly what we ordered. Not normally a problem if it’s good but the chicken seemed to be out of a can and the mole sauce was seriously lacking something. Staff was very nice tho. Basic Mexican food but nothing that blows you out of the water.

Went twice, first time was great. Second time, the price got jacked up, the food changed. There was no consistency. The waitress was good and nice, but the service in the back was horrible. They got half of our meals wrong. They even left out items on that are listed on the meal in the menu.

Best Mexican food I’ve found in NJ. Great service and, more importantly, great food! If you like chilaquiles and tacos al pastor, this is the place for you. Good flan and hotchata, too! I would eat here every day if I could. They pride themselves on being authentic Mexican cuisine, but if you don’t know your sopes from your sopa, your server will happily explain things to you — in flawless English. They are also very GF friendly. They have a small parking area, but if you don’t find room, just go down John St. and park by the school or on Birch ave. Go there ASAP, order a ton of food, eat all the chips, and enjoy!

Wow… place is on point! I’m Hispanic, born and raised on the border my whole life, I know good Mexican food. Trust me when I say: this place is REALLY good Mexican food. First time coming, ordered popusas(VERY very good), and a Botana, also on point. I will be back for sure!

I’ve always said Mexican is my least favorite of Spanish cuisine, Puerto Rican being my favorite. Well not any more. My husband and I went there recently and had a couple of appetizers(pupusas) that were simple but tasty. We were also provided a bowl of thick crispy chips with red and green salsas. For the main entrees we had the beef stew and the spicy beef platter. The beef stew had big chunks of tender beef, potatoes, and corn on the cob in a clear broth. The spicy beef is a slab of thin sliced beef, seasoned white rice, black beans, and a tasty salad of sliced tomatoes, avocado, onions and lettuce. We also had three tamales($ 7). Entrees come with three piping hot tortias each. This is a BYOB that accepts credit cards even American Express. Our entrees were in the $ 10-$ 12 range and our appetizers in the $ 6 range. We were disappointed that the flan wasn’t ready to serve and the jello provided gratis was a watery and disappointing substitute. Ditch the jello.

This place is a gem! We’ve been here for dinner twice now and just had a fantastic breakfast for the second weekend in a row. Every item we’ve had has been delicious, nicely presented. What is especially remarkable is how friendly everyone is here. You immediately feel welcomed and the waitstaff and owners are very cheerful and flexible. On top of all that, it’s a very good value! So, Aurelio’s is quickly becoming one of our favorite Princeton restaurants. The cold orchaka, which is a rice, milk and sugar drink sprinkled with cinnamon is really a nice surprise, as is the hibiscus iced tea. Not overly sweet and very refreshing! We were a bit reluctant at first but the waitress offered us samples of each and we were glad we gave it a try! The tortillas are cooked on premises and are delicious as well, with the slight scorching from the comal(griddle) providing aroma and taste that makes them entirely different than machine made tortillas. Perhaps the best measure of how much we enjoy dining at Aurelio’s is that our plates are spotless at the end!

Like the other Unilocalers have said, this place is *legit*. Get on down here before no one can come anymore because it’s too crowded. I ordered a triple of tacos(three for $ 8): al pastor, lengua, and barbacoa de res. They were great, great and great. We also had a tostada Guatemala and a salad that turned out to be a lot of iceberg lettuce with pollo asado on top.(I was trying to order a small green salad.) Aurelio’s is BYOB, so you can experiment with your favorite wines and beers. The people who run the place are nice, nice and nice.(Our server was Zahraa, the daughter of the owner.) The breakfast menu looks really attractive, just saying. Check it out!

Authentic Guatemalan and Mexican food. I ordered a breakfast burrito(not on the menu) and it was delicious. They offer Guatemalan or Colombian coffee, which is nice. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. Clean tables and friendly service.

Great food, great prices, and even better no wait. After years of going to Tortugas(right across the street) and waiting in line for moderate food, I am so happy that there’s another BYOP Mexican restaurant with even better prices.
