I have been going to Dr. Marcus since I was in middle school and now I am in my late 20’s. I no longer live in SD but in Murrieta so it is quite a drive in which I pass by many dentists. I will not go to any other dentist but Dr. Marcus. He is by far one of the best! He put fillings into my teeth when I was in middle school and they are still in perfectly today! That is not heard of but that just proves how good of a dentist he really is. I highly recommend him. You will not be disappointed! Thank you for my great teeth Dr. Marcus and staff! I always look forward to my appointments! :)

I am relatively new to Dr Marcus’ office and am extremely pleased with the experience. He and his staff are professional, courteous, friendly and very competent. Thanks to Dr Marcus, my dental issues are being resolved quickly and with little to no pain. (and I’m not a fan of dentists).

I am very happy with Dr. Marcus. With my previous dentist, I had a horrible experience where I could actually feel my tooth getting drilled for a filling. It was so painful that it made seeing a dentist a scary experience for me. When I explained this experience to Dr. Marcus before getting a filling, he was very understanding and took my concern very seriously, assuring me I won’t have the same problem as with the previous dentist. Dr. Marcus was so gentle that I didn’t even feel pain with the injection, let alone getting the actual filling done. He also kept checking with me to make sure I was doing alright. I was very impressed not only with his work, but also at how much he genuinely cared about my comfort. I will definitely continue going to him as he has earned my trust.

I will make it short and sweet… My husband and I decided not to come back to this dental office anymore! Very disappointed. so the saying says: «What goes around comes around»

Last Sunday night I managed to crack a large part of a rear molar right off. Fortunately no pain. The next day was a holiday and when I tried to contact Dr. Marcus he answered. Concerned if I had pain he found an appointment for me in his schedule for the next day. I got in first thing in the morning and his staff was already prepared for me. They did the evaluation, drilled, built me a new overlay, and set it in, all in less than 2 hours with no pain at all. I was completely blown away. It’s now a week later and I have experienced no problems.
I have never been so impressed with a dentist in my life.

Dr. Marcus and his entire staff are wonderful! I was referred to this dental practice by my boyfriend when I moved to San Diego 3 years ago, and have been a patient ever since. Dr. Marcus is the perfect balance of professional and personable. He is great at reading people during procedures, and has a natural way of making you feel at ease in the chair. It seems that his top priority is actually his clients — which is a rare thing to find these days! Thank you to Dr. Marcus and the entire staff for creating and maintaining such a pleasant environment.

I don’t get all the great reviews, I won’t be back. The office is ok, the hygienist was nice enough, but unless you need a filling or a crown, find someone else. The X-​rays missed a few teeth that needed root canals and the crown and filling he installed is still being adjusted to fit my bite. I went back to my old dentist, it adds an hour of travel time to my office visit, but my bite is better and I’m spending much less for better care.

I’ve been going to Dr. Marcus for two years now after a bad experience with another (see my Dr. Timothy Garofolo review). Dr. Marcus was recommended to me by several satisfied coworkers. When I went for my first visit, he noted a couple possible problem areas, but I appreciated that his attitude was, «I don’t have a history with your teeth yet, so let’s wait a year to see how they progress.» He’s conservative and doesn’t want to fix everything he sees immediately — I like that. The dreaded first filling finally arrived last month and he was very patient and understanding of my irrational fear of the drill. I informed him that past experiences have taught me that I need extra numbing stuff and so he gave me double the dosage — I didn’t feel a thing during the short procedure. I recommend them — I like Dr. Marcus and my hygienist Megan. My husband and mom now go to Dr. Marcus as well.

I went to Dr. Bob Marcus after being referred to him by Dr. Lin following a front tooth dental implant procedure. The implant was to replace a fractured tooth that needed extraction. Dr. Marcus made and placed the permanent crown that would be attached to the implant and be my new front tooth, so to speak. It was literally one of my two front teeth, so I was understandably pretty anxious and worried about how the tooth would look when all was said and done. Any anxieties I had were instantly squashed after meeting Dr. Marcus. The first thing you realize about him is… aside from being extremely friendly and taking his time to talk you through everything and make sure you are comfortable, he is a complete perfectionist in every sense of the word. I never thought I would meet someone who cared more than me that my teeth look amazing, well Dr. Marcus is that man! He is very detail oriented and takes his time, and includes you in every step of the process. He has cutting edge equipment I’ve never seen nor heard of. It’s sorta like a camera on a wand that he uses to map out your mouth, it takes pictures and measurements and forms the tooth digitally based on the dimensions of your mouth and bite, then he can tweak it a little if he needs, then it sends that digital picture to this other machine that goes to work and drills a block down and forms your new tooth. Wayyy cool. I’m a total nerd for that stuff. Dr. Marcus told me he is one of the first to use it and travels the country teaching other dentists how to use it. After your tooth is formed, he then gets to work on the coloring process. This is where he is really a perfectionist. He was able to match my other tooth down to the little shading at the top and bottom, and the striations that all teeth have. He thinks of stuff I really never knew or thought about, which I love! At the end of the day, I have a tooth that is so well matched to the tooth next to it that I know it’s there, but even in staring at my own teeth in the mirror, it’s hard to tell. Of course, no one else notices until I point it out, and even then they have trouble seeing it. I learned from Dr. Marcus that matching a single front tooth is the hardest thing to do in the field of dentistry, and I believe it! Hard as it may be, he does it beautifully and you know that you are getting most medically advanced care available. Thank you so much Dr. Marcus for my new beautiful smile!

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Marcus for about ten years and I highly recommend him and his staff. Today he replaced an old filling for me and he made the procedure as easy as possible. Dr. Marcus and Laurie his hygienist are always super at what they do.

My family and I have been patients for many years but eventually we have all left the practice due to their $ 75 no show policy. I called my dental plan to see if they could really charge a $ 75 no show fee and they confirmed that it was indeed possible. This was surprising since medical doctors don’t charge such high fees. I was especially surprised to learn that the dentist office is reimbursed $ 65 for a dental cleaning so it appears they make more money when you don’t show up.

I’ve had four appointments in total at Dr Marcus’s practice in the three years I’ve been living in San Diego. The most recent was a marathon session, five filings and a CEREC crown (what’s that? In a moment). My poor-​ish British teeth are the result of a childhood of sweets and non-​fluoridated water. This much work is naturally pricey but I had some insurance cover to ‘use up’ for the year, before relocating away from SoCal, which helped.
I could not be happier with any aspect of Dr Marcus’s services. The man himself is irrepressibly cheerful and personable, and completely passionate about his dentistry. The mouthful of stuff I’ve had done over three years is the best-​looking and best-​feeling dental work I have ever had.
His support network — front of house, financial, his team of technicians and hygienists — form a slick yet friendly machine that seamlessly guides you through all the peripheral stages. From what I’ve seen, they all get on really well and know their roles inside out.
Now for the best part (for me anyhow). I’m a tech kind of guy and love what technology can do. The on-​site-​manufactured CEREC ceramic crowns, and the computer technology used to image the mouth, is just mind-​boggling. The computer displays and user interfaces of the best sci-​fi films can’t outdo this stuff, and Dr Marcus is Jedi-​grade in the way he deploys it. To see micron-​precise scans of your teeth and the way a new crown is artfully profiled to fit in perfectly is ultra-​satisfying. I’ve had it done three times, I think, and it hasn’t lost its magic. Dr Marcus is a great teacher as well, and tirelessly trains his technicians on the equipment. The resulting crowns are machined and fired right there in the room, and the fit and finish are just impeccable. They have been right first time each time.
The local anesthesia has been spot on every time too, whether administered by him, his technicians or his hygienists. I know people get a bit freaked at the thought of dental work pain but I’ve had none either during or after the sessions.
I could go on, but you get the point. I’m sad to be moving away from San Diego, but I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr Marcus and his team. He’s the Tooth Wizard, for sure!

This is a great practice and we’ve been going there for a couple of years now. I had always had a very smooth go of it with dentists and have had very few cavities or problems over the years. My last dentist was always scaring the hell out of me and recommending and giving me treatments that seemed unnecessary and referring me to other dental specialists for consults on gum disease, etc. It seemed like they were just trying to pump up their revenues.
Working with Dr. Marcus’ practice and his staff is refreshing in that I’m not always getting shaken down for additional services. I just had my semi-​annual cleaning yesterday and once again it was a pleasant and professional experience. He is personable and competent and his staff is great.
I recommend them highly if you’re looking for a new dentist or tired of getting taken for your eye-​teeth by your current one.

I have not been to a dentist in over a year because of the bad experience I had with my last one. When I finally decided to pick a new one, I made sure to do my research. Dr. Marcus consistently had stellar reviews and my experience matched what people were saying. From the time I made my appointment, I felt that I was in good hands. All of my paperwork was completed online, which made for a quick and easy check in. The office was very clean with modern technology and equipment including tvs on the ceiling, digital x-​rays, paperless check –in). The receptionist was extremely welcoming, walking me through every step of the process and taking the time to introduce me to everyone who would be working with me that day. I was seen right on time and everyone who I met with was warm and professional. Dr. Marcus made sure that all of my questions were answered and didn’t try to up-​sell me on a bunch of products, which he actually mentioned felt like a conflict of interest so they do not sell any products. I was extremely pleased with every aspect of my visit and am thrilled that I actually have a dentist who I can refer to friends and family (this really is a first!). I look forward to my next visit in 6 months.

Dr. Marcus and his staff are amazing! My whole family goes to see him in ages ranging from 5 years old to 35years old. My daughter needed her first filling done recently and Dr. Marcus made sure to make her comfortable and assure her of how easy the procedure can be. After a little pep talk, he was able to comfort my daughter and complete her first filling with no problem! She is so excited to see Dr. Marcus each time we go! Thanks for all you guys do :)

I admit. I hate dentists. Not the dentist in particular but the whole process of people fiddling with my teeth gives me the creeps. I think watching «Little shop of Horrors» too much made me feel the fear.
On arriving in San Diego– which was 20 months ago I had to find a dentist, I was given a recommendation of Dr Marcus and followed that up.
Impressed is not the word. Whilst being professional they are still talking to you as a human being, they dont use too much technical jargon and I have received the best teeth cleaning ever here.
I am going back next week for some treatment and it is a long appointment, yet they have been perfectly understanding that I will need to pop out part way through the appointment to feed my daughter! Amazing!
Dr Marcus is a great character and is human, by which I mean he talks to you rather than down to you! Definitely would suggest this dentist to anyone.

I recently had crown done by Dr. Marcus and I am extremely pleased with his way to treat patients, his competency, and staff education. His practice is very well organized. In my first visit, I had a short clinic tour by a very friendly front desk clerk. His evaluation is very through and he recommends the best treatment plans after careful risk and benefit explanation. During the procedure, he does very precise job and does not cut corners. My procedure was done about three months ago and initially, the crown was a little painful. I was concerned and I went back to him and he explained that it will take several months for the pain to go away and it is going away just as he explained. dr. Robert Marcus is the bomb! I am a healthcare professional and I would give him 5 stars!

Hello everyone:
In the past, I was terrified about going to the dentist. I had a horrible experience as a teenager and it has impacted every dentist visit I have had since. I could not sleep the night before an appointment. When I arrived, my heart started to pound in my chest and I started to perspire.
I must say, however, that Dr. Marcus and his team embraced my fear and moved at a pace that was comfortable for me; there were no surprises and everything was explained in detail. I did not even feel the needle enter my gum. They always checked on my status and kept me informed of the progress and the status of the procedure. I received five-​star treatment and their equipment is state-​of-​the-​art. This team sincerely puts you first and treats you as though you are part of the health care team. They are the best.

Dr. Marcus is a fine dentist. His chair-​side manner leaves a lot to be desired. If you are afraid of needles, he is great. Never felt a pinch. He has a nice staff. I do think he oversells Invisalign. Overall he is fine, but his personality is not a fit with me.

This is by far the WORST dentist I have ever been to in my whole life.
First off, the dental work here is absolutely shoddy. He injected so much Novocaine that my eyelid was droopy, and when I asked him about it at my second visit, he said there was nothing he could do about it. This never happened to me at other dentists. Also, he does not use dental dams when filling cavities — terrible! Every single filling he did has since chipped. I am pretty sure the spaces between your teeth are not supposed to be jagged and rip your floss.
The whole experience was just terrible. To add insult to injury, I had recently switched dental insurance and ended up having to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket because he was more interested in collecting on the bill (or sending my account to collections). When I tried to resolve the insurance issue, he was downright rude.
All in all, I am sure you can find a dentist around this area who 1) actually does satisfactory work and 2) will be reasonable with you when it comes to billing issues. Dr. Marcus does neither. WORST. DENTIST. EVER. Save yourself a headache and find a dentist who cares about your teeth and not about your wallet.
