I wanted to find a place to have lunch with my buddy since we were meeting by his work. Looked up some places on Unilocal!and found Amerasian Cuisine. Decided to go here since I haven’t had Filipino food in a while especially since I haven’t been to mom’s house for dinner. Mental note: Tell Mom I’m coming over for dinner so she can make Chicken Adobo or Bistek! Alright back to business. My buddy and I perused the menu and I opted for the 2-item combo(white rice, sisig, and longanisa) of course with the required spicy vinegar as a dipping sauce. We both looked and saw that there was salt and pepper chicken wings… hmmmm, yeah, we gotta try it too. The sisig was delicious and you can never go wrong with longanisa so it made for a great lunch. The salt and pepper chicken wings were good, but doesn’t hold a candle to Royal Mandarin wings. The girl working was very nice and I got a chance to watch some TFC while I was there… always hilarious viewing. The food was good, but the only downside was that it was hot inside the restaurant. Need to get some fans turned on up in there! I felt like I was sitting inside the Victory Liner in the Philippines with the windows open while waiting to go from Subic Bay to Olongapo

It’s alright… The only dish I can say I really like is the Chichiron. Sometimes I’ll have the pork sinjgang and that too is alright. I’ve tasted better. The ladies who work here are very nice and pleasant. I’ve had several other dishes but again it’s alright and nothing to really rant and rave about. I’ve learned to call ahead to see if they have chichiron. You can also order a lechon pig in advance. I’d like to try the silogs so I’ll be visiting Amerasian again.

This is a typical Filipino take out. The flavors are authentic and the service is friendly. They even have breakfast! Although, I didn’t see any Spam on the menu board. hehe I think it’s funny that some people come to places like this and complain it isn’t as good as homemade. Well, durrrh… If you want homemade then make it yourself or go to your Lola’s.

It’s good for in a pinch quick dinner, but when people say it’s just not like mom’s, this is a few steps further from that. I usually go for the breakfast as that is more difficult to mess up and that works out much better. Like I said, it works in a pinch. I’ve yet to try their whole menu of food, so I’ll be testing and will report in the future my findings…

Longsilog, tocilog, oh heck… any …silog dish is pretty good, but they’re like the pancakes of the Filipino breakfast world. You just can’t screw it up. Or so I thought. Garlic fried rice was decent, and luckily the fried egg was fresh. Longanisa was good, but the tocino was dry. Sitting under the heat lamps way to long is my guess. The eggplant torta was also subject to the tanning lights, and ended up completely overcooked by the time we got to it. You just can’t over cook eggs. You just can’t. Service was, well, not with a smile. She seemed a bit bothered we walked in, and after we were served, she spent the remainder of our visit in the back washing dishes. Meh.

Decided to try out some Filipino food in Poway and sadly, I did not enjoy the experience. For starters, the food stand was almost empty when we got there at around 6pm. How do you expect to entice customers to eat there when the food containers are empty or contain dry looking food? The place did not have any customers around(should we have taken that as a sign?). There were some people who pre-ordered take-away food though so that is a saving grace. The food itself was nothing to write home about. Adobo, pancit, fried fish. Eeehh. Won’t be back. I wonder how this place stays in business. :(

I’m an avid filipino-food-eater. This place left me wanting to go Carls Jr across the way… If I can make better pancit than you, then you should not be in business. Portions were generous, probably because there was no one else there and it was lunch time mid-week. I really wonder how this place stays in business. I really hate to write such a scathing review, but I think having such horrible filipino food really struck a negative nancy chord with me…

I don’t know how to cook Filipino food, but I know good Filipino food when I have it. I wasn’t impressed with Amerasian. I’m not sure whether the cook at Amerasian is from a province or part of the Philippines that I’m not familiar with, but the flavor was just a bit off for me. Everything needed some salt, or pepper, or bagoong, or something. They had your standard pancit, adobo, and bbq sticks. For $ 6.99, the two item entrée served with rice and pancit(CARBS, CARBS, CARBS!), plus a soda, plus two turons(fried banana eggrolls) for dessert is a steal. If you can make it out to Mira Mesa, I’d skip Amerasian and get some more flavorful Filipino food elsewhere.

Originally the plan was to go to the Original Pancake House right next door, but of course the wait was suuuuuper long on a Sunday morning. While we waited outside, we couldn’t help but smell the delicious scent of Filipino food making its way towards us… We looked through the window and saw that they serve Filipino breakfast!!! WOOHOO!!! Tapsilog, longsilog & cornedbeefsilog??? Haha, well corned beef. Well, let me tell you… it was everything we expected and more =) Haha Restaurant: Typical Filipino fast food point-point joint kinda style. Surprisingly enough though, they added a little flare to the chairs in the middle section — chairs were draped over with a cream cloth material with flowers… almost high class fancy! ahahaha. They had a regular 18 or 20″ tv in the top right corner that played TFC — Niiiiice. Food: We all only had the breakfast food — Tosino, Longanisa, & corned beef with garlic fried rice & eggs. YUMMY!!! May I just say that their sauce for the tosino was absolutely BOMB.COM!!! Hahaha. Service: The aunties that worked there /owned the joint were super nice!!!(Nice change from the typical mean filipino ppl I encounter usually — No worries, I’m Filipino so I can say things like that… Haha). Price: Not bad at all… I wanna say it was about $ 6 per plate or so… Overall, i like this place and would come back again whenever I’m feening for a fried, greasy, Filipino food fix =)

I very rarely eat Filipino food. The last time must have been several years ago at least. The reason? I generally find it much too rich, fatty, and greasy for my taste. I also have somehow been unable to develop a taste for pork blood and tripe. Go figure. That said, I have to hand it to Filipino cooking. The flavors are very unique and there is nothing better in the world than a well-done lumpia. It having been several years since my last taste, I wrangled my husband into this place(he doesn’t like to eat Filipino food for health reasons). There’s a running coupon online for 50% of a second entrée(two-item combo) though, which convinced him. The place looked pretty standard for a Filipino place. The usual set-up with the stews in hot plates. Chicken adobo, pork adobo. It seemed like there were a few stews and soups there that I was completely unfamiliar with, which wasn’t surprising considering my lack of experience. The lady running the place was so nice and friendly, very helpful with our questions and helping us to select the food. I passed on the pork blood stew despite her assurances that it was very good. Maybe I’ll be a bit more brave next time. The plates came with a combo of rice and pancit and we tried the chicken adobo, menudo, some sort of lentil soup/stew, and a coconut milk stew. Either the last Filipino place I went to sucked or I have developed a new appreciation for fatty, greasy stews. We thought the flavors of all the dishes were wonderful. Our least favorite was actually the adobo! That surprised us as this one dish we have always liked above the rest. Not that the adobo wasn’t good, but the other dishes were even better. The food was definitely not healthy. The stews used plenty of fatty meat, but they also had liberal amounts of tasty veggies in them(including the pancit which wasn’t too greasy as it can sometimes be), and I think this is why we thought the food here far superior to past experiences with Filipino food. Best flavored dish if probably the least healthy was the coconut stew. Oh yum. That was good. Did I mention the portions here were huge? Sitting here writing out this review, I’m salivating thinking of the tasty leftovers I have waiting in the fridge for lunch. We also came away with some pan de ube(purple yam bread). Oh man! died and went to heaven. Delicious. All of that food, including the bread, was under $ 14. Can’t beat it. Say hello to the very friendly old ladies on the way out. I hope this place sticks around a good long while for when I need to get another Filipino food fix.

Authentic and GOOD. I tired another place in Rancho Penasquitos by the Stater Brothers and I was disappointed. Amerasian is closer and soo much better. Conching’s is still my favorite, but I live in Carmel Mountain which is polar opposite direction of National City. I was a lil disappointed though when they weren’t serving Sinigang. I had the Mechado and the BBQ skewers. YUm! I wish they had more variety, they only had a few pans of food vs Conchings who has several but it was good. WE went on a Sunday and we were the only ones. The owner was the one who served us and she was really nice. Oh and go to there website, they have a coupon :)

I am probably the most anti-Filipino Filipino I know, so whenever I eat the food of my people, I am very picky. Like most people, I am very familiar with the standard Filipino dishes: lumpia and pancit. However, I am comfortable with a few more authentic dishes such as chicken/pork adobo, longanisa, menudo, and maybe some lechon kawali every once in a while. Among the more Pinoy-dishes, I samped the adobo, longanisa, and menudo, all three of which were pretty quality, if I may say. Plus one star for a cute restaurant-setting, and maybe a half-star for free additional rice and availability of my favorite Pinoy soda ever, Sarsi.

It’s American. It’s Asian. It’s AmerAsian. Or at least, that’s how it’s supposed to go. It’s really more like Americanized Filipino food. They’ve got your stereotypical pancit, adobo, lumpia, etc. and they rotate their selections daily. My friend and I just looked at the menu and what was in the serving trays, and kinda wondered what to order. Fortunately, the very nice lady behind the counter was able to read our look of utter helplessness, and she came to our rescue, providing explanations of what we were looking at, and also offering to get us a sample of anything we weren’t sure of. So we split an order of lumpia, and then each got a 2-item combo. Of course, this being filipino food, they wanted to make sure we had enough, so they loaded our plates with more than we could possibly eat, unless one of us was hiding a Warner Bros Tasmanian Devil under our shirt. They even threw in an order of their special dessert lumpia, and gave me one of the filipino sausages to try as a sample. In this day and age, and with the economy like it is, it’s a rare treat to be the recipient of such generosity! The flavor of the food itself was rather good, although it wasn’t as strong as I would have expected from a filipino meal. That’s not to say that it wasn’t good… it just wasn’t as strongly seasoned. Perhaps that’s where the«Amer» part of the name comes in. One thing I wanted to note was that the coconut milk dish I had was wonderfully sweet. If they have it again, I recommend trying it. I wish I could tell you the name, but I didn’t even catch it when I was being told about it the first time. All totaled, all of that food was less than $ 20. If you happen to be in the area, and you’re looking for some decent filipino-ish food, this is certainly a reasonable option. But don’t come here expecting to be magically transported back to Manila to be surrounded by your aunties and cousins.

First, thanks Unilocalers! I wouldn’t have known Amerasian was around if it weren’t for you. My bf and I came here about a month ago and were delighted. His mom is Filipina and he said that he would bring her here when she visits. Tons of food for the price and the menu changes daily — this is important because… We went again this Monday night, food was good but they were running out of food at 7p. As I was driving home on Tuesday night deciding what to get for dinner I got a mad craving for more Filipino food. So, yup I went again on Tuesday. THEN today I got a whiff of someone’s lunch at work and it reminded me of my Amerasian leftovers and I got disproportionately excited. I’m eating the leftovers again right now on Wednesday. THREE days in a row and ya know — I could prolly go back tomorrow. Maybe I’ll wait til Saturday though :) Be forewarned, the food may have addictive qualities but don’t let that stop you because I want to be sure this place stays around for a while. Gots to be sure I can keep getting my fix!

This was my first time having filipino food and I have to say that I was glad that I tried it. This place is very casual but definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. I think their prices are the same all day. We all opted for a 2 entrée special with either rice or noodles for $ 6.99. One of the people I was with literally had to tell the person behind the counter to stop putting so much food on because he knew he wouldn’t be able to eat it all. The staff was really nice and more than happy to answer our questions and even provide samples of the food. I tried the chicken adobo and another chicken dish, which came in a light tomato sauce. I also tasted the taro and coconut milk. It looks like spinach but it is very flavorful. Also, the pork dish is coconut milk was good but on the heavy side, at least for lunch. If you order 2 entrees they give you a free order of banana lumpia, which were a nice addition. My only issue with this place was that I am not a big fan of chicken on the bone. In their defense, most of it was cooked long enough that it came off without too much trouble.

Amerasian has the Filipino food cornered in Poway. I think they’re the only one in the area, which is awesome for people like me who don’t want to drive all the way to PQ or Mira Mesa for some homecooking. I felt like I was at my Auntie’s house: — really warm welcome — the scent of good food cooking — odd furniture and misplaced weird items(sample flooring display), but somewhat comfortable and I dare not say anything to disrespect the Auntie — TV with karaōke available — just like any family party, go ahead and sing! — huge helpings of food, that almost makes you say«tama na, po!» Kiddo loved the ground beef with veggies. The chicken apritada was very fresh and had equal ratio of chicken and veggies. Not too fatty at all! If you’re like me and need something sweet to counter the savory meal, grab some Yan Yan from the shelf. You’ll be glad you did!

Homely. I feel like I am getting food from an Auntie or Tito Boy. This food has the homecooked flavor of home Filipino food. I will have to spotlight some of the food. Laing– this is a spinach dish with beef. It has a stew flavor with chuncks of stew meat covered in flavored spinach. This was one of the better Laings I have had, including LA. Apritada– a Curry-like stew with potatoes, carrots and beef. What surprised me here was the lack of grease. Apritada is usually quite greasy, AmeriAsian had all of the flavor sans the grease. The chicken BBQ– Good, but a little dry. I believe that if it was not closing time and the food was a tiny bit fresher, it would have been super tasty. Their sauce exemplifies a sweet BBQ with a touch of salt to let you enjoy the meat. This place deserves credit where due. I am afraid there are not enough customers. GO!!! Come on, they sell Toblerone and Soy Sauce. How can you resist… Dali!
