Beautiful, cozy little local bookstore. It’s hard to walk out of here without a new book. I love places like this!

Yo, book bitches. Amazing local bookstore. Lovingly selected new and used and fancy antiquated. Smart buyers and great vibe. Buy here. Amazon doesn’t need your money — these guys do. #namastebitches #fuckkindlebookslive #namastebitchesmichaelbryan

I was visiting Portsmouth for a long weekend with a girlfriend. We went wandering /shopping on Sunday and stumbled into Sheafe Street Books.(Thanks to the arrow sign that pointed the way…) We each found a book to take home. Me a cookbook(I have a problem) and she a fiction selection. We were in the store for a long time, simply browsing and enjoying the quiet music playing in the background. As with most small used book stores, there were books stacked high and tucked into every corner. The smell was of paper and history. Yes, I said history. There was a kitty wandering around and hoping from shelf to shelf. The woman who was working(who told us she was not the proprietor) was pleasant and chatty, but let us quietly explore as long as we wanted. A great spot!

This place is cool. Books on books on books in a lovely house. You’ll have to look a bit for some things(you could spend hours in wonder here!), but Ken knows a lot about the collection if you feel like you have to look for a lot.

Ken and his furry companion, Petunia, have created a delightful, warm, cozy, and relaxed bookstore. A place that has something for everyone and is hidden from the main drag. It is truly one of Portsmouth’s best kept secrets.

The best little hidden bookstore around. I have gone here multiple times now to get books from this place. its run by a man in his house. its a quaint little book store with thousands of different selections of books. Some of the books here are really cheap, he also constantly has books on sale. I got pride and prejudice and zombies for like 3 $. the store is absolutely amazing with great prices of books. He has quite a great, wonderful selection of the new and upcoming books, history, cooking, travel, poetry and basically anything else you could possibly want to read. He has a huge variety of old, really expensive books. They are mostly the first editions of these books that are kept away. If you are looking to spend a pretty penny. ask him for these books. He preserves these books very well too! as you walk around you’ll find books in plastic bags to keep them from getting ruined. I find it very cute. I am a huge Hunter S. Thompson fan and he has every book I could possibly imagine from him. I keep going back to continue my book collection. This place is by far my favorite place to go and spend time looking at all the different books he has there. I am such a huge book worm that I’m constantly wanting to go here and buy more books. He has books high and low. all over the place, so just keep looking and looking. and if you can’t find what you’re looking for, just ask! hes very helpful. what is also nice is that you can hear his birds chirping while you’re there. its a very homey type bookstore. He also accepts debit/credit cards!
