Adequate but not interesting. A limited selection and none of the good advice I have come to expect from knowledgeable staff and better liquor stores.

Wow. this was difficult to find. First off, the address IS correct. Maps puts it over by Cloud Ice Cream… it is in between Nudi Noodles and a empty building next to a sketch looking tanning salon and smoke shop… If you call them they will help you with directions and let you know what you need. They do have a lot for you to park in, which is nice. It’s a liquor store. so it’s not beautiful inside. It stinks, really. Average prices, average selections. They ARE open on Sundays!

This place is over. They refuse to carry ginger beer and the manager seems to be a generally unhappy person. I drive an extra mile now up to 82nd and holgate to have a more pleasant and productive shopping experience.

I forgot to mention the best part of this business; OPEN on Sundays! Yes, I’m yelling.

I agree with other reviewers that this place is adequate. I miss privatized liquor stores where they actually try to earn your business. Not the friendliest store people here.

Props for the Sunday hours and ample parking. Service there is fine and the selection sufficient, but neither are remarkable. I’d recommend Woodstock Liquor for the convenience factor, but don’t expect aisles of choices, glamourous displays or polite chit-chat.

To Jules. There must have been something else going on because I think I know who you are talking about. I’ve been going in there for years and have never had a problem. Almost everyone is helpful. I’m sorry you had a bad experience.

I started going to Woodstock Liquor Store after getting tired of the high prices(and traffic) of another liquor store on 82nd. Woodstock Liquor is a small store with a tiny parking lot(though some spaces are time-limited). They may not have the selection of larger stores, but they always have what we want, are friendly and the prices are good. I like the Woodstock area and the location is convenient, so I never mind going there.

1 star for a liquor store? Yes, indeed. It’s not the slightly below average liquor selection, because it works just fine for most needs. It’s that one woman who works there. I don’t know her name, but she’s older. Maybe an owner or manager?(Because, seriously, no one in their right mind would hire her.) At first I just noticed she never smiled. So I would make sure I smiled at her, tried to create a little light conversation. Nothing. Stone faced. But I kept going in, and her attitude got worse and worse over the months. I started to avoid the place, but it’s fairly convenient to my home, so once in a while I’d go back. A couple of times I went in and a younger guy was working(he is nice), but the last time I went in, as soon as I walked through the door, the older woman shot me a dirty look and went back into her«office» and proceeded to glare at me through its open door the entire time. The girl that did check me out barely spoke to me, and when she did tell me to «have a nice day» her voice was dripping with sarcasm. What the hell, Woodstock Liquor?! I am a nice person. A good customer. And I tried WAY too hard to make this place work for me. But after the last visit, I won’t be back. Because, you know what? You’re still in a CUSTOMERSERVICE job. And if you can’t smile and make customers feel welcome, you should quit. I realize you’ve got a monopoly on selling liquor in the Woodstock area, but that doesn’t mean you should treat your customers like crap. Other options, not far from you, are much more pleasing.

Friendly and cool to talk to. Convenient hours as well. Need I say more. OLCC controlled like all booze. Sufficient for my bourbon needs.

they have the bourbon I need so I can’t complain. Decent hours: mon-sat 10 – 7 sun 12 – 5, parking lot, and friendly staff.

For a couple of years I suffered the emotional unavailability, the 7 pm SHARP closing time at my neighborhood liquor store, Woodstock. I rationalized it away — «the service is friendly, maybe it’s not their fault, maybe they’ll change». I kept coming back. But Woodstock never did change — the store is just as small and cramped, the parking as maddening, the carpet as ugly. And yet, I kept setting my schedule around THEIR schedule, planning ahead to snatch a few moments of precious time in the inner sanctum before the doors locked up again. But one day, I found the strength to push past the entrenched disappointments of my old dalliance and break free! I went out further in the world to see what others could offer me. And within comfortable reach of home, I found a new steady, the liquor store on SE52nd and Powell. My new flame is bigger, easier, and can offer me more things than Woodstock liquor even dreamed of. Powell lets me in until 8 pm on M-Th, and 9 pm on Fr-Sat! No more do I have to plan and scheme to get inside rows of glistening bottles. It’s not true love, like other states that are open until midnight, or god forbid sell liquor in supermarkets — but it’s probably the closest I’ll get in OLCC-ruled Portland, or in my neighborhood at least. Woodstock keeps trying to tempt me back by being open on Sundays from 12 – 5 while Powell is closed(maybe he’s hungover? Woodstock never parties on the weekends… square). But luckily for Powell, Sunday is Hangover Recovery Day, and the thought of liquor stores is forbidden.

Adequate location. Adequate selection. Adequate service. Utterly adequate in every possible way. There is no reason to come here. Except, on a Thursday afternoon at the end of the school year, exactly 24 hours before all senior theses are due down the hill at Reed College. Then you’ll see a show. Those who have cleared this monumental hurdle, gracefully or not, will be selecting their favorite celebration libation. They will be partially clothed, smiling with the radiance of seven moons, and smelling like goats. Hot. Those who have not finished will be staring intently at a bottle of Jack. Procrastinators drink Jack. They will smell of sweaty fear and too much coffee. Also hot. I finished on Thursday at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. I bought a bottle of passion fruit liqueur with a $ 20 from an alum who was passing out money in the parking lot. Inferno.
