Wonder Puppy training methods have been invaluable to us! We are long time dog parents, and have raised 8 dogs together. We decided to get two puppies thinking we can handle it — and boy what a challenge! We started Wonder Puppy Good Puppy classes when they were 9 weeks old and it has been instrumental to having happy, well adjusted, loving, smart, socialized and bonded puppies. They are so well behaved that we get asked all the time how we did it — we always respond that it’s Wonder Puppy methods that have made all the difference. Even our 10 year old Golden Retriever has benefited! He has picked up on the training and now has better recall then in his entire life — and we didn’t even have to work at it! Alex was our trainer and her insights and advice on how to deal with the unique challenges of litter mates has helped us more than we can express. Thank you Alex and thank you Wonder Puppy! Wonder Puppy is worth every penny. My dog and I have taken all their classes and my dog was hit by a car a week before the final CGC evaluation. Wonder Puppy generously provided me invaluable tools to help keep my high energy dog entertained during her recovery process.
Their training methods are scientifically backed and the best way to promote a positive relationship between yourself and your dog. They will leave you with a strong foundation for future training. Not only do I feel comfortable with my dog in all situations but I know WP has given me the tools to adapt to the unknown. As the owner of a pitbull mix it’s absolutely critical to have a safe dog and WP was critical in getting myself and my dog to that point.
Some may balk at the price tag but the classes are limited to 4 dogs (which is important when you have a shy or easily distracted pup) and cover a lot more ground than a typical class. It’s also a great investment when you consider the enormous benefits of having a happy, well-​socialized dog who is confident and comfortable in real-​world situations. I cannot recommend WP enough.

We recently completed Good Puppy training with Terri as our instructor. She was great and the class was very helpful. There were a lot of great training exercises that I wouldn’t have thought of myself. These exercises proved to be very effective! I would definitely recommend this class and Terri, and we plan on taking the next level of class if one opens up that works with our schedule.

Our very lively puppy just graduated from the Good Puppy class with Danna. She is the best! She presented the material in a very clear manner, and repeated as needed with ultimate patience. I am new to puppy training and I needed her individual guidance and coaching, which she freely gave to my puppy and me. I never could have taught my puppy all the skills we learned without her. She is a wonder to watch when training a puppy. Somehow she got my Juno to do exactly what she was supposed to do within minutes, if not seconds! I’m sure I learned as much as my puppy in these classes. The curriculum is excellent. I’m proud of what my puppy and I learned and thankful for the superb guidance and instruction.

Wonder Puppy is truly the best. The price is worth its value more than ten-​fold, in helping shape a well behaved and solidly bonded pet. Wherever 8 month old Parker goes, people stop and ask why is so well behaved, and my answer is always «Terri, from Wonder Puppy!» Parker is confident, smart, and I LOVE that Terri uses such sophisticated training techniques that dogs actually UNDERSTAND, and you can SEE them learning! Tuesday evenings were my favorite part of my week, and Parker’s too! People can’t believe that Parker has never been told «no», or had a choke collar, or his bottom pushed to sit down. I have another golden retriever who was trained with more traditional methods, and she is not well behaved because «good things happen», but because she doesn’t want bad things to happen. What seems a subtle shift is actually huge. Pay attention people, Wonder Puppy knows their stuff. Though, I do suggest having an open mind, as it is most likely different from other training you have envisioned or experienced. Instead of «can’t i do it like I do at home/​did with my other dog/​saw on dog whisperer/​dreamt about», be open to trying new techniques, and pay attention to the signals your dog clearly sends you. It’s your responsibility, and Wonder Puppy makes it a blast.

What an INCREDIBLE experience! Terri is an amazingly skilled and knowledgeable trainer that catered to my shy/​anxious dog’s specific needs, and taught me how to better understand and connect with her. I was amazed at how QUICKLY my husky, Nikita, learned to master more than a dozen skills over a couple months. I even missed 2 classes because of travel, and was able to audit the ones I missed and keep up to speed! I wasn’t sure how well Nikita would do, as she was very under-​socialized when I adopted her, but Terri was very sensitive to her needs, and helped me adjust my training to better help her, based on her needs. I have worked for WP for more than a year, and had been waiting to take a Good Puppy class (as I am not a trainer) because I’d never done clicker training, and knew about it but had never tried it. Even having high expectations, I was literally blown away. I am SO proud of us, and SO grateful for finding Wonder Puppy!

Great classes! They limit the school group to 5 pups which keeps the environment sane for canines and humans alike. The program is easy to follow and set up in a way that really resinates with the dogs in helping them learn and remember their skills. Danna was our instructor and she was really knowledgeable! Very patient with the dogs and their handlers, but strict in the appropriate moments to help avoid teaching you and your dog bad habits. She made herself available both in and out of class. Overall, my experience with Wonder Puppy has in fact been wonderful! We look forward to continuing onto the next stages with them… Just hoping they add more Great Puppy classes soon! =)

My 12 week class with Danna helped turn my rascal Golden Retriever into a reasonably well behaved dog! Exceeded expectations!

Since I chose Wonder Puppy after reading the great reviews I wanted to add my own props and kudos. My American Bulldog «Trey» participated in both training and the play sessions. I had a lot of experience owning and fostering dogs but didn’t feel comfortable training a puppy. I think the positive approach is the unique characteristic of this method. I had taken other puppies to very capable trainers but the focus was on teaching the puppy to avoid «punishment» by obeying. The pups do learn with this method but they don’t have the same happy and willing attitude. We learned a lot about observing the pup’s body language and working with their natural instincts instead of fighting with them. Also the little info bits about «trading» when a puppy gets something in his mouth rather than trying to take it away proved very helpful in daily interaction with a mouthy pup who tried to eat socks, paper bags, throw pillows etc. Our group’s trainer Alex S was amazing. Dogs LOVE her and she has a way of working with them that gets them responding to cues happily. She was also very aware of breed differences and how something that would work with one breed might not be successful with a different breed (bulldogs have strong opinions and not shy about expressing them versus some jolly Golden who does backflips trying to please you). The play groups were also very valuable in learning how your pup interacts, what pushes his buttons and what triggers timidity or aggression. I definitely recommend Wonder Puppy for anyone wanting a happy and cooperative dog in their life.

My little guy recently graduated from Good Puppy with Danna, and he and I both think Danna is a rock star! The Wonder Puppy methods are beautifully simple and effective if you are willing to put in the effort the other 6 days between classes. The small classes are worth the price because of the individual attention you can get. Danna knows what she’s doing and if you don’t resist the very structured training model, it does work!
My only critique is that there are not enough weekend class options for people who work and don’t have a very flexible schedule.

We just completed our first puppy class, good puppy. The instructor, Alex S., was so knowledgeable and patient. We learned so much from the class as well as the WoGo play groups. We’ve already signed up for phase two, Great Puppy, which starts in Nov. All around a very positive experience that I highly recommend.

We started Wonder Puppy classes within about 3 weeks of bringing home our first puppy in about 15 years, and I can’t even begin to tell you how helpful our trainer, Alex, has been! Our puppy just graduated from the 10 week first course, and Alex was crucial in both teaching us how to most effectively care for him and how to shape his behavior in positive ways. Being able to bring our questions to her and get advice from everything from barking trouble to doggie daycare recommendations removed a lot of stress and uncertainty from our lives. I felt comfortable asking any and every question, and always felt like I walked away with good information and strategies that work. We’ll definitely be continuing on to the next class!

The WoGo Playgroup classes have been extremely helpful in teaching my puppy how to play with a variety of pups. The trainer, Alex, is very knowledgeable and facilitates appropriate play between the puppies while simultaneously teaching the owners to watch for communication signals from their own dogs and the other puppies in the play group. Alex has taught me so much about communication between dogs. Now when I am out with my puppy and he interacts with other dogs, I feel much more comfortable and know what to do and what to watch for. It has been amazing to observe my puppy develop appropriate social interaction skills as he attends more and more play groups. In addition to teaching good play and social skills, Alex sets aside time to answer any questions and provide suggestions about things happening outside of class, which I find is very valuable. My puppy loves the play groups and so do I. The WoGo Playgroups have been an important educational tool for both my puppy and me. I highly recommend the Wonder Puppy play groups!

I have been to many many dog training classes over the years. This by far was the best. What made it so was the small class size which afforded individual teaching and coaching and problem-​solving. Yet when I think back to the class instructors of 20 young dog/​puppy classes, I can’t say I would have welcomed their close attention like I did and any one would of Danna Nieto. She is terrific and really helped me train Digby, our Chihuahua/​Dachshund. Thought this class was too much money before. Don’t now. This is the Parelli method of horsemanship for dogmanship.

We can’t say enough about how wonderful Wonder Puppy has been in creating a strong foundation for our Vizsla puppy, Matisse. We started with the puppy socialization sessions which have proved truly invaluable for teaching our little one proper manners and avoiding confrontation with other dogs. We also completed the Good Puppy series which helped us transform our little wiggly hyper boy to a well training, obedient angel. It was truly remarkable to see how following all of the instruction and guidance of people like Terri really made a difference. We feel like we have the perfect dog now. We plan on continuing on to Great Puppy and potentially Wonder Puppy now, as there is no doubt the investment will be worth it!

We found out about Wonder Puppy from a neighbor (whose dog is so sweet) and decided to give it a try. The Wonder Puppy program does a great job of breaking down classes into various exercises that may prove challenging for your pup– staying while you leave the room, staying while you cause commotion, leaving an available treat until they are allowed to have it, etc. Turnip left the program with a lot of new found patience and new skills, and we definitely could not have done this training without Terri’s guidance! Terri was so attentive to each individual dog, and was always available for additional questions. We would recommend this class to anyone. It not only trains your dog, but teaches you, the owner the skills to continue your own training outside of the classroom for continued great behavior!

Wonder Puppy is the BEST! We had a great experience in our first session, and we hope to sign up for more. Our Newfoundland puppy participated in the 10 week Good Puppy Course and we all learned a lot. I’m not sure if the training is more for the dogs or for the humans, but we have all greatly benefited from our sessions.

Wonder Puppy is as good as they say. Being a first-​time dog owner, I knew I wanted to get our pup into puppy classes as soon as possible to get the training we both needed. Luckily Wonder Puppy was not only highly reviewed on Unilocal but also in our neighborhood. Score!
We enrolled Milo in their 10-​week Good Puppy class where he learned the basics — sit, down, stay, come, take it/​drop it/​leave it, park it, social skills & leash manners. Our trainer, Danna, was great & Milo LOVED her. Once he figured out our walk was leading us to WP, he would run full-​speed for the last 2 blocks until he could get some love from her. She was terrific with the dogs, but she was also great with the parents. She was encouraging, helpful, patient, & firm. In fact, everyone we’ve encountered there has been super nice & always made Milo feel very loved.
We also took advantage of their puppy playgroups. They’re very structured which I can appreciate when they’re at a very young age, but it was very stressful for me to constantly try to wrangle my pup & make sure he wasn’t overwhelming the other dogs.
My only critique is that I wish they would allow for some playtime or interaction after training. There’s a lot to cover & I know it’s probably due to time constraints, but it would have been nice for them to play together & blow off some steam.
We’ve just started the next level of classes — Great Puppy. We’re hoping to go all the way through so that Milo can officially become a Wonder Puppy!

We got a 8 month old puppy we named Ziggy from the Oregon Humane Society back in October of 2014. As first time dog owners in our adult years (had dogs as kids), we quickly were reminded that our parents did all the work with the dogs and we knew almost nothing! In addition, we have 3 cats and learned very quickly that adding in a dog to the clan was going to take some SERIOUS work on everybody’s part. We were desperate to find a way to communicate and have a common language with Ziggy, so a friend at Pets on Broadway asked a customer of theirs what they recommended, and it was Wonder Puppy.
As we awaited the start of a «Good Puppy» 10 week session (Ziggy arrived end of October, but the next classes did not start until December), we requested 1 on 1 home training so we could at least get started with a few things to minimize suffering we were feeling of not knowing what to do. Terri came to our house (THANK GOD!) and helped us come up with a few things we could work on while we waited for class to start.
I could hardly wait for December to come! We were in a class with 3 other puppy parents. Terri was our trainer and she just fell in love with the dogs. Terri really cares about the «kids», and feels it’s important to get dogs trained, as so many dogs get put up for adoption because owners don’t know how to deal with them and they give up on the relationship they could have had. At that point, some dogs have trouble being placed in a home again because they have issues that have developed due to not being trained and also being abandoned by the family they thought they would be with. All of this can be avoided with training, time, and patience.
We had home work every week which some weeks we were great at doing our homework, other weeks we could have tried harder. Terri went around each week and worked with the dogs during class. Class felt short, 1h 15 min, but the dogs really have a limited attention and energy for class, so this is perfect. It was easy to stay committed to the weekly class because we saw improvement immediately week after week!
We tried hard to find the balance of «pottied» and «semi hungry» pup — as Ziggy concentrated a lot more when he was hungry! We learned that simply getting the dogs attention can be the key to everything. We learned sit, down, stay, hand signals, «come», walking on leash techniques, focusing, and «park it» among others. We learned what treats he will listen for and what treats he won’t. We learned to train him at home and also worked on distracted areas (and class can be one of those!)
The most important one you’ll ever learn is «leave it» — comes in handy DAILY! I would say learning these skills has had a SIGNIFICANT effect on our relationship with Ziggy. We trust him more and he trusts us. We can accomplish a lot more in our house hold and he is no longer chasing the cats, something we feared would never be the case.
Wonder Puppy has given us hope for change, a common language, and increased the depth of our relationship with our pup, Ziggy. Can’t thank you enough!!!

I have hesitated to write a review for Wonder Puppy because I feel like it is impossible to convey just how truly amazing this place is!
My Havanese, Ponyo, started Good Puppy (Level 1) when he was just a little over 2 months old. By the second class, he already knew how to do sit, down, come and name recognition. Ponyo also graduated Great Puppy (Level 2).
Best of all, Ponyo loves going to Wonder Puppy. He absolutely adores the trainer Casey. Whenever I say «Wonder Puppy» he perks up and knows exactly where we are going.
The group classes are 4 dogs maximum so they feel almost private!
