I love the coffee and the relaxing atmosphere at Water Ave. I always get a drink and a shot on the side because they pull really tasty shots. One thing that I think is cool about Water Ave is they have sparkling water on tap so you’ll never get flat water with your espresso. Oh, and they now serve breakfast! I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve looked at other peoples’ food and it looks great!

This is in a kind of random industrial area, and the décor is also simple /industrial. Their cold brew was very smooth, and I thought $ 2.75 for 12oz was very reasonable compared to SF prices.

I wasn’t really wowed by my coffee. This placed seems a bit over hyped. The latte I ordered wasn’t very hot, even though I asked for it extra hot. It was only slightly warm. And it was supposedly caramel flavored but not sweet at all. The espresso in it also wasn’t very smooth, but I think I just prefer a darker roast.

This amazing, new place is really a jewel in the stretch of companies popping up along SE Water Avenue. Friendly and very well-informed staff are serving up a number of the finest shots of amazingly nicely roasted coffee. I believe Water Ave. serves up the finest vegan cappuccino, with the densest froth, in Portland. Plus they do not default to a vanilla soy milk — always a plus!

Nice coffee shop in the industrial district. Got a cap, and sat there and got a lot of work done. Its a big space with lots of charging points. Fast free wifi as well.

Coffee seems pretty good. Liked the cold brew. The atmosphere is nice. I am noticing a blot of people meeting for personal and professional. Lots of seating, and noise level was mild so I could work and concentrate. Didn’t know the wifi password and didn’t see it posted so that was a HUGE downfall for me. Also would have loved if they offered to heat up my cinnamon roll. Staff didn’t seem too keen on talking… So it was a short interaction. But I did enjoy the coffee and getting out of my apt to work. I recommend the cold brew, Andrew liked the drip coffee and the additional free refill for enjoying it in house! :)

We came here on a recommendation for cold brew. I asked about it and was told they used the Indonesian beans for today’s blend. I don’t know I just wasn’t wowed. The style of the shop didn’t really rock my world(it’s next to Bunk) and yeah I just wasn’t impressed. I did like the full wall of windows and the quick service I received. The coffee tasted watery, not a rich full tone of flavor. It tasted like a concentrate with too much water added. Sweetening and creaming didn’t solve much because the base was still weak. I’d maybe go back to give another blend a shot but this just didn’t wow me. Cool location, easy access to walk the waterfront, which we did. Shop was quiet and clean just kinda unassuming. Update: the manager contacted me to offer a redo so I will report once I’ve given it another go. Nice manager to even take the time to try to make it right!

Really delicious quality coffee. Maybe my favorite here in Portland. Super nice counter staff greet you with a smile. Plenty of seating inside and out. It’s a popular spot for folks to meet up after cycling or yoga or I guess wandering around down here in this funky part of town. They have bagels and oatmeal and healthy well made nutritious wraps and sandwiches. Something for everyone. I think this area of town is so special because it’s not zoned for residential. I would live down here in a heartbeat if I could. But then again the charm is probably because we can’t! Unless you set up camp under a bridge… which a lot of folks do down around here. Anyway…excellent coffee. They sell it in bags and it would make a great gift.

Super cute coffee shop on the east side. Lots of seating. Great ambiance. Friendly baristas. One thing I liked the most is they didn’t make my coffee too hot. Usually I have to wait 5 minutes for the coffee to cool before my first sip — complete torture! At WA I could take my first sip on my way back to the table and it was delightful.

Recommended from Joe at The Hair Lair while getting my hair colored. I had a soy latte with a brie sandwhich. Their coffee is delicious… really delicious. Super creamy and roasted so well.

Great spot for coffee in Portland. Coffee is mild yet flavorful with the latte I had. They have house made syrups and I enjoyed the vanilla in my latte. Environmental is cool, too; it matches the feel of the surrounding Industrial District. It’s also a place I would feel comfortable hanging out whole working or reading.

This was some seriously good coffee! My fiancé and I love to travel around and try out the best rated coffee places, and we will study the reviews carefully before deciding on a coffee place to try. We don’t do Starbucks. We especially love local roasters. We were in Portland the other day, and decided to try Water Avenue Coffee after reading the reviews, and we were quite happy. Very good lattes! Good flavor, good service, very tasty turkey pesto sandwich!

Overall: Great place to work from for all those telecommuters or freelancers. The staff are friendly and prompt, and the coffee is some of my favorite in Portland. Positives: — Great friendly staff and environment. — Great coffee and a variety of drink types to choose from. — Music isn’t obnoxious, again great for the telecommuters or coffee-office workers. Negatives: — Parking can be a bit atrocious in this area. Not the fault of Water Ave. but something to note. — The power plug options aren’t well spaced. The chairs, tables with plugs seem to fill up pretty fast.

Coffee is good, one free refill which is nice. Their vanilla cappuccino was ok though. However it was freezing in there.

First time in. Kind of off the beaten path a little. Really nice cold pressed ice coffee here. I think they use a light roast. Very distinct flavor. I like the décor also. Now I know about it, I’ll be back.

Let’s put this simply: if a friend was coming to town, and they only had time for one coffee in Portland, this is where I would bring them. And frankly, once I bring them here, it’s likely that this would become their second, third, twenty fifth coffee in Portland as well. It’s just that good. From coffee to vibe to staff to location to space, it just ticks all the boxes.

I got an americano and it was perfect. The staff are friendly and the shop has a chill vibe. The cashier made a helpful suggestion for what beans to buy for my mom, who uses an aeropress. I can’t wait to try my mom’s coffee ^^

I was super excited to check this place out. It’s on the industrial side of Portland and is a little hard to find. There is just a sign that says«Coffee» outside and you’re not sure if you’re in the right place. We actually went into the place next door, where they sell espresso machines, and figured out we were in the wrong place. It was a cold & drizzly day and I thought that stopping in this place would help thaw us out. Not the case. It was cold in there! When I got my double mocha, it was pipping hot. I couldn’t drink it for quiet a while. It had awesome flavor, though! Not my typical cozy coffee shop find, but different and worth checking out if you’re on the industrial side.
