Great idea… but don’t go alone… the decibel level of cackling drunk women will give you a migraine for the rest of the night. Basic instruction was good, could use a little more detail instruction on making dimension pop. If you have distance vision issues… sit up front.

Lots of fun! A friend and I were visiting Portland and decided to try this for fun. Everyone there was super friendly and helpful. I have a little bit of painting experience but my friend had none and we both loved it and came home with a fun souvenir of our weekend. All though everyone painted the same picture, they were all different and beautiful! I would highly recommend this place to bring out the artist in you!

Fun with great instructors. Good drink selection. Recommended for something new and different to do with friends.

Such an amazing experience I had here, the painting itself was delightful and just what I needed to do– but the instructors are just a gem! Love that is a Portland Home-​grown company!

I so much wanted to do this although i have no creative ability. i talked my husband, two sons and granddaughter into going for my 60^th birthday. When i made the reservation i was not advised that there is no assigned seating so we should arrive early. when we got there about 10 minutes before the start time, we were advised there was no way for us to be seated together. we ended up with one person alone in one row, two people in another row, and two in a third. the experience was ruined as it was planned as a family experience.

Drinking and painting on a Friday night is my favorite type of relaxation. This $ 30 class last for 2.5−3 hours where an instructor goes step-​by-​step showing you how to create your own variation of a masterpiece. It’s a fun activity do with a friend or, even, a large group of people! Well worth the money – brushes, canvas, and paint are provided. My only disclaimer, alcoholic beverages are available for purchase but not included in the price of the class.

This place is so much fun! I never thought I could be an artist, until I started painting here. Here, anyone can be a Van Gogh!
Vine Gogh is the perfect Friday night girls’ night out. Wine, music, great fun! There’s even a wine bar right next door where you can hop out during a break and pick up a nice bottle of sparkling Pinot Noir.
Being in Sellwood means parking is a B*, but that’s ok. Fun place, friendly staff and drinking is encouraged. My kinda place!

This is the most fun I’ve had with a friend in ages. You can’t beat the price — $ 30 for a painting class and just a few extra bucks to drink some wine. Perfect combo —
As far as I could tell most patrons where regular folks like me who have little to no art experience. The atmosphere is fun, nonjudgmental, and easy going.
I highly recommend it for friends, date night or a group outing.

This is one of the most fun places I have visited in the last year. For a mere $ 30, I got to take a painting class. For a little more, I got to drink while I was doing it!
It’s not your stately, stuffy type of painting class, but I’m guessing you figured that out from the mention of alcohol. It’s a relaxing and amusing way to spend a day or evening while you follow along as the instructor paints. I’m not artsy at all, but I survived and even learned quite a bit. They have beer, wine and cider for purchase or you can bring your own and pay a corkage fee. Supplies are included in the cost of the class.
The paintings are posted online for each day about a month in advance. Book early for the most popular ones. They offer day and evening classes and will even do private parties. Soon they will have another location opening in Tigard!
I can’t wait to come back soon and make another terrible piece of art! Maybe less wine next time.

I really like this place. I have mostly frequented the location in Sellwood, but have ventured to some of their other locations. I think this is an awesome idea. I love the schedule and variety of art to try and the laid back approach. You can easily go with friends and enjoy yourself while painting something really cool. Some of the brushes are a bit hard to work with just because they are lower quality brushes. If you are really serious about making something awesome, bring your own brushes, but usually this is just a fun thing to do.

My boyfriend and I have been here 3 times; all of them were date nights! We love this place! What a great way to enjoy each other’s company, be creative and drink some wine! The painting instructors and staff are fun and friendly. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a fun activity with family, friends, significant others and even little kids! Just pick the painting you’d like to paint, sign up online and show up for a fun time! 5 stars all the way!

Clever idea and a enjoyable experience, for the most part, but could be a little better executed.
First of all, the space is small and very cramped. You have to get there a good 20 – 30 minutes early if you want to be able to choose where you sit or even sit with your friend or group because it’s «first come, first served». We ended up getting a decent seat but there isn’t much space between you and the person sitting next to you (or behind you). I found that I wasn’t really able to complete my painting because of the limited «elbow room». Overall, it just felt very claustrophobic and it was very difficult to leave your seat once everyone was seated because the space was so tightly packed. I probably would have spent more money on wine if I could have gotten out of my seat!
Second, light control. Where we were seated the sun was just beaming down on us and it was very difficult to see the canvas, not to mention uncomfortably warm. Some blinds or shades would have make a huge difference.
Lastly, the beverage options were pretty limited and should have been from local wineries/​breweries. Food options would have been good too. We anticipated being able to order small plates so we came without eating. Bad idea. They had an anemic tray of chips & dip and cookies sitting out for everyone but that was it.
So hopefully they will make some improvements when they open the Tigard location because I think it’s a great idea and would enjoy doing it again.

Very fun and Jenny (?) was a great instructor! Was worried about parking, but was able to park right across the street. Looking forward to the Tigard location opening up near me. I plan to go once a month. It is relaxing and you get to take home a nice piece of art.

First, I’m not part of the Portland crowd and I don’t know any of the employees personally. I understand the city-​pride-​keep-​PDX-​weird-​hipster blah blah, but I would never give a business a good review just because it fits that kind of category.
HOWEVER, Vine Gogh is unique and does fit the trendy PDX category in all the right ways. I have gone to four different classes – two with Jenny and two with a male instructor. Both are fantastic. I think the area they show the most patience is with reminding customers that they can do it and that their art looks great. It is nice to see people surprised by what they can create (even if I think it’s exhausting to hear all the «newbies» think their pieces are going to be the worst ever).
The art is very nice. I’ve looked around at other similar concept wine-​and-​paint places and I actually think that Vine Gogh has some of the more detailed, appealing choices. Your painting will definitely be wall-​worthy!
The food and beverage selection is also very good. They have had Erath, 14 Hands, and local beers, as well. I think there were homemade cookies once, too.
I feel as though they have really outgrown their Sellwood studio space, so it’s great that they’re opening a new location. I was going to take off one star because sometimes there seems to be a little overcrowding and too many customers to handle at once. My mind was completely changed today.
Last time I went, they ran out of frames. I was a little annoyed because they were running out the time before that and I thought they should probably manage their material supply better. The time before that, I got the last frame, but they ran out of hardware, so there was nothing to secure the canvas to the frame. I started to think that if they couldn’t be consistent with the frame thing, maybe they should just stick to what they can do well. BUT, today in the mail was a frame! They actually took the time to mail me one! I was so shocked and now I even feel a little bad that I was kind of cranky the last time I was there!
I am going to go again later this month for the «Balloon Over Paris» painting. I plan to pay for the frame they sent me for free, because that kind of frame is really hard to buy at local craft stores and I know that Vine Gogh is a quality establishment. No one is perfect 100% of the time, but when a business goes out of their way like Vine Gogh has, I am quite impressed.
Go. It’s so fun. You get more out of the experience and the artwork than you pay in dollars and the people are genuine. They also help with nonprofits like New Avenues for Youth. Can’t say enough good things.

What a fun time I had here!!! Went last night with a group of girlfriends. None of us being artistic at all, but walked away feeling VERY proud of our accomplishments!
Great staff, located in the heart of Sellwood in a charming studio that offers an array of wine and beer and other beverages. Our instructor was awesome! Patient and complimentary. Everyone there seemed to be having a fantastic time. The bartender was awesome! I wish I could recall her name but she was a fun addition.
I would recommend this to anyone looking to learn to paint, want a fun night out something different and for sure a party event. There was a 50^th birthday party going on while we were there and they had a ball!
They did say they will be opening a new location on the westside as well this year. Good for them.
Anyone looking to feel like a true artiste should go and have fun!

This place is incredible.
I hesitantly went with a friend who assured me that no artistic skills were necessary and ended up entirely enjoying myself and making a beautiful painting. The instructors are great at breaking the process into easy steps so that the process is relaxing and fun. The music and wine is really conducive to creating a relaxing atmosphere and every time that I have gone people are laughing and having a great time.
When my mom came in to Portland to visit me I took her here and she adored it. My mom isn’t one to really like anything artsy, so this is saying volumes. This is a fun activity for getting together with friends, and they also have date nights and mimosa mornings.

We had our staff party at Vine Gogh this afternoon and I was really happy with what I took away from it, aside from the fun social atmosphere among co-​workers on their second glass of wine. At first I was apprehensive and wanted to paint something unique from the group, just kind of go it alone or look at something inspiring and go from there. But after Jennifer’s fantastic instruction, I actually learned a thing or two – and what I really appreciated was the fact that the whole group had similar paintings, yet they all were so characteristically different, it was truly fascinating! I could easily imagine an installation of twenty some odd paintings, each telling their own unique story with the varied brush strokes.
I have been to painting parties before (there was one place in Beaverton that was fun), but Vine Gogh offers something unique in that there is fun and engaging instruction intermingled with reminders to have fun. If you’re thinking about booking a party here, go for it! Relax and paint! Walk in without the stress of performing well, because the guided tour of painting a masterpiece awaits you! :-) Even if you don’t love your painting, you’ll love the experience!

I had not painted since elementary school when I decided to try a class at Vine Gogh. I had an absolute blast and am happy with the painting I developed. The instructor is nice, funny and walks you through everything step by step. It was also very therapeutic and my girlfriends and I plan on going once a month. I’ve already signed up for several more classes and figure I can give some of the paintings as gifts.

I’ve been here twice and both times were a blast. They have the schedule of what they are painting up about a month in advance, so you just go online, look at the paintings and decide what you feel like learning how to paint. The instructors are really helpful and it doesn’t matter at all if you have no painting experience. You can buy beer or wine by the glass (which totally helps if you’re a perfectionist) and I’m pretty sure they allow you to bring your own if you want too.
Lots of fun… I see more painting in my future.
