They have no wi-fi which was disappointing, it would be the perfect spot to work for a few hours. My latte was good. Cute little neighborhood joint I would love to patronize if only they had wi-fi.

I walked to Village Coffee for organic, dark roast coffee beans and left with their last two ½-pound packages. I think the brand of the beans is Green Mountain, but don’t quote me on that. You can quote me on the fact that it makes deliciously smooth coffee. A free cup of coffee is offered when you purchase beans, but the clerks accommodated my request for tea instead with no quibbling. They were nice, too, and I heard some brief, cool stories from one, prompted by his curiosity about the four-leaf clover tattoo on my neck. Village Coffee is a very small shop, and not flashy. It’s a good place to meet a friend for a warm drink and chat. I’d been there previously for just that. Now I know that I can get my coffee beans there, too.

**NOWIFI**(just though I’d put that first because I stopped in purposely to work). I chose village coffee shop over the starbucks that is half a block away because I like to support local business. I bought a coffee not because I really wanted a coffee but because I know that is just good manners if I plan on sitting there to use their WIFI and this being the time in history we live in I just assumed before I bought a coffee that they had WIFI for their customers use. I’m unsure why they have made this decision but common sense would dictate it hurts business more than helps, but maybe they are trying to make some sort of statement. Had they have had WIFI I probably would not be writing this review because it is an average coffee shop with ok coffee, two power outlets, and minimal seating options. My advice to the owners: put a sign on the door that says you don’t have WIFI. Multnomah Village has a majority of older people living here who enjoy a low tech coffee shop so I’m sure they will do just fine without my business. (UPDATE) If you have made it this far into my review here is a «Pro Tip»: If you are looking for a local business to support and perhaps do a little work, go to Nectar. It’s half a block away and they have WIFI, decent coffee and plenty of comfy seating even though they are a frozen yogurt shop.

Nice small local coffee shop. A bit too small for me. I felt like the coffee, service and price were all fine but not great.

Classic small business coffee shop. Lots of regulars. Friendly staff. Artwork supporting local artists is rotated in the shop which gives it a Portland feel. Coffee is great, plenty of drip coffee selection. Smaller place that crowds easily, but I love stopping in to get my coffee to go.

Have been in a handful of times. Haven’t enjoyed service or coffee as much as I hoped.

The coffee is good, service is efficient. The atmosphere is kinda dark and cold. Not the type of coffee shop where you could work due to lack of outlets. Baked goods are tasty. However, it’s just not a place that is comfy or encourages you to stick around for more than a few minutes. Love to support the local coffee shop over the Starbucks but this place makes it hard to be a fan.

Love the idea of the place! I don’t like going there as it always feels filthy to me — not to my girlfriend that loves the place — just to me.(floors especially) They do such good in the neighborhood. Seriously. Look how they support local artists. Seriously good deeds. Now put some energy towards a good deep cleaning.

Great place for coffee. Had a mocha then a cappuccino. Sat in window seat and relaxed. They do take credit and debit cards. Nice folks dropping in.

Go here! If you do nothing else in the area, pick this place over starbucks. Went in with my girlfriend on a whim yesterday and the best coffee ever. Friendly service, full of compliments and clearly popular with locals. Can’t recommend this joint enough!

Village coffee is a great place to grab your morning coffee. The great place to come grab you a coffee on the weekend when you have time to sit around. The staff is very friendly.

I love Village coffee, and I stop in absolutely every time I’m in the Village. It’s great to see the friendly faces of the staff members who work there, and they become friends who welcome you by name in a short span of time. The small shop is so nice, with people meeting to hang out and chat, to do the crossword together, to discuss politics or literature or whatever. The coffee is fantastic, and it feels great to support this local, independent business, rather than the Starbucks up the block that adds nothing to the local flavor of this great neighborhood.

Better than Starbucks, but coffee was not anything great. Went here about a month ago. Pleasant, reasonably capable barista, but didn’t know much about their coffee(other than it came from a specialty roaster and was not from a higher elevation). Nice hang-out, though. Good conversation among the locals.

If you were wondering where all the old PDX hippies went, well, they are usually here sharing tables, debating politics, and avoiding the fact that their houses are worth a fortune now. Great coffee. Excellent cerebral crowd. Just a cool place. Skip the Starbucks and go here. Friendly staff makes the place hum.

Closes at 7pm on saturdays. Which is great. Small place, but the barista was friendly. Cool arts on the wall and the lattes are pretty good too.

I want to love this place. It’s in a great location, it’s quirky, and it’s small and independent. In a recent news article, the owner was complaining about how the economy had affected business. Trouble is, every other coffee shop in the area had a line that whole time, so the economy wasn’t the problem. I’ve had too many experiences here where I’ve left feeling irritated at not being thanked for my purchase.

Meh!!! Get it! Service is great!!! However she was on the phone for 2minutes bawling out an employee before greeting me. Iced Vanilla Soy Latte is more expensive than Starbucks and not as good. Management should pay attention to the details of details regarding cleanliness. Gross dark brown rags hanging behind counter. Ratty curtain covering Sink drain. Lots of apparent grime in nooks and crannies. I wanted to run!!!

Best coffee in the village. The coffee is organic and roasted well. Their espresso drinks are well balanced and consistent. There’s a wide selection of locally made pastries and I’ve like the three or four ones I’ve tried. Indoor and outdoor seating is available, and while the seating is a bit limited, I’ve always been able to find somewhere to sit. The baristas have all been friendly. My only word of warning is that since this is a pretty small, independent operation, they don’t have the setup or staff to get people in and out really quickly like a Starbucks(the fast food of coffee) would. But in exchange the quality is better, so it’s a trade off.

Open on Thanksgiving Day = Dana makes it to both Thanksgiving dinners awake and alert. Teeny-weeny and cute! Clean, fast, friendly. Three parking spots right there for customers. Cute, cute, cute. Clean bathroom with local stuff posted on the wall. Good iced americano was about $ 2.20. Barista thanked me when I tipped him a quarter. Cool.

Super cute, TONS of magazines and papers to read, and the definition of «service with a smile». A big coffee(self-serve, 5 different varieties to choose from), a small hot chocolate, and a big black tea: $ 4.50 total. And the coffee was excellent, by the way! I wasn’t expecting anything special, but holy hell it was good, my non-coffee-drinking friends got tired of me mentioning it. They’ve got a handful of pastries, but for the most part, this tiny little coffee shop’s all about the beverages. Really nice place to duck into for a bit. Cash only.
