Very quick and easy to drop in and tan spur of the moment. Clean beds, nice owners and all for the right price. I always stop in here when I’m in Portland

Love this place. Great tanning prices. Sweet couple that owns it. Won’t go anywhere else, all I need in a tanning salon!

High end tanning equipment at an affordable price! This family owned and operated tanning salon has all the tanning machines that the corporation owned ones do at a fraction of the price! Support small business and receive excellent service!

I’ve only ever been here for tanning. For that, it works. It’s no frills — yes you need your own goggles — but about as clean as I’ve ever felt any tanning place was. I think all tanning beds are kinda gross and always shower shortly after. It’s inexpensive, and for me, convenient. The guy who owns the place is a grump. It’s too bad he can’t set aside his disappointment with the world and be more pleasant, but I’m there for the price point and not the customer service. I WOULDNOTWANT A HAIRCUTHERE. I say this never having had one. I base this on two things — first off the hairstylist herself. I’ve never been impressed with her hair, and I hate to say it, but it’s generally awful by any standard. That does not instill confidence in me. I’ve seen people getting haircuts when I was there for tanning, and if you’re not a dude who wants a pretty standard military kind of cut, this is probably not the place for you. If you’re totally new to tanning, and/or you have really sensitive(made in OR and never leave kind of) skin, pamper yourself a little and see how things go one of the newer tanning salons. These are the places where tiny, orange complected girls greet you at a desk and get you set up. If you’d like, you can use some free goggles straight from the bucket of sanitizer. That was never something I really liked, but you don’t have to spend $ 5 for your own if you don’t want to commit. Compare. See what’s important to you in your experience. Then you’ve found your place. :)

This place is very eccentric looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 80s. It might seem shady at first, but everything is always clean and I’ve never had any issues. It’s clearly a «mom & pop» deal, as there are only two people that ever work there. The guy who is usually there is sort of a curmudgeon, but it really doesn’t bother me personally. He’s knowledgeable about tanning and gave me a recommendation for my first time back in a while. Tanning is very inexpensive and totally worth the not-so-warm-and-fuzzy atmosphere. From the looks of the place and what I’ve heard from others, it doesn’t seem to be a good place for haircuts. Overall, I recommend for the inexpensive tanning if you live nearby and don’t need all the frills of a high-end salon.

My friend and I went tanning at Venus & Mars this morning and the man behind the counter did NOT seem like he wanted to be there. He was very rude but the prices are great and the beds were nice and clean.

You get what you pay for is all I have to say about this one. Tanning packages are cheap however the salon isn’t great and the employees aren’t friendly or professional. If you need a cheap place to tan its worth it but dont expect a high quality experience

I have had many hair mishaps in my life but none have been so egregious as what was done to me at this ‘salon’. Not only did my requested curls turn out to be a crimped nightmare but only half of it held – the rest was a flat, limp mess that had to be fixed by someone who wasn’t totally inept. Oh, and when I called to tell the ‘owner’ what had happened she suggested I come in and have her do it again. AGAIN. For those of you who may not be perm-savvy, there is nothing worse you could do for your hair than perm it and then perm it again. You couldn’t pay me enough to go back to this awfulness.

I got ad under the windshield of my car for a salon that offered $ 5 haircuts on Sunday and Monday. I’d planned to try it out at some point and today my roommate decided he wanted a haircut and I’d been waiting for a Sunday/Monday anyway so I said what the hell. Before I even opened the door my roommate got a bad feeling about the place and wanted to go(he has a bit more dough to blow on haircuts through so fair enough). Some meathead was having his haircut and said the lady doing the work was«the bomb», I just sort of muttered«I bet» and that must have been the tipping point for my roommate as he got up and left. He tried not to pay as well, damn gypsy! Apparently he barked(literally) and chased my roommate once he left — unrelated but it’s just one of those Portland is bizarre situations. But you can’t just an establishment by it’s clientele so let’s talk about the haircut. After the other gentlemen left I hopped in the chair ready for my $ 5 haircut. I don’t really deal with my haircut in terms of numbers and length but the hairdresser was a bit hard to understand. Unfortunately the only point of reference I had were the apparatuses she was shoving in my face and some pictures of other men on the wall. Around 10 minutes of the stylist hacking away at my hair I pointed out that I didn’t like the way my hair was clumping at the sides of my temple. Another 3 minutes later and she seemed to have fixed it. She did a clean job around the ears and the back looked good and I was ready to go! …Then I got home and put my glasses on and took a closer look in the mirror. It appears the ‘fixing’ was her using sheers on the entire top of my head minus a bit of hair in the front. Luckily, hair grows back and I’m relatively good at styling it so that nothing can look too terrible. However, I’m afraid in a couple weeks my entire head of hair will be a complete disaster due to the way it grows in and I’ll end up ponying up a bit more than $ 8(I added a $ 3 tip because I got my haircut 20 minutes before close, quickly as a walk-in.) just to fix it. If you can describe exactly what you want your hair to look like I’d say 5⁄5. Unfortunately, that’s not me and since I’ve rarely described the way I want my hair to be cut in numbers it came out quite a bit shorter than I had wanted. However for the price alone, it’s worth giving this place a shot just brave up.

Best tanning beds for the price, but small salon so you’re pretty much going to have to wait at least a few minutes for your bed. Which is fine for me. The staff isn’t the most proffessional, but they’re nice, and helpful. As far as hair, I probably wouldn’t. But I only go to one salon for my hair. Nails, the girl comes in Monday/Tuesday and it’s by appointment only.
