University Pointe At College Station

If you want to get your money taken, no help, rude staff, and perhaps getting pepper sprayed for loud music, you should love here! Never seen anything like it.

I moved to Portland in September of 2015 and this was my first rental. If you’re like me, you probably saw the location, pictures on their website, and the rental price and immediately thought «this is perfect for a student!» I’m here to advise you to distance yourself from this place as quickly as possible.
The pictures of the interior may look nice, but don’t show how shoddy the craftsmanship is. Walls are paper thin and do not fully connect to the ceiling (you can see light shining through from other rooms). ANY sound that any of your roommates make will be fully audible. The exterior walls provide little to no soundproofing either. With a MAX line below, you’ll hear screeching of the rails until about 1AM.
Elevators are consistently out of order. I counted all of them simultaneously being under «maintenance» no less than 4 times within my first week of moving in for hours on end. This is a problem when you’re on the 12^th floor.
Appliances and bathroom necessities will often break. Getting anything done to fix them will take weeks, as work orders frequently get ignored or outright deleted without any resolution.
The outside of the building’s lobby and inside the halls are in a constant state of chaos. You’ll walk through a group of 20 — 30 drunk, stoned tenants/​random people just to get into the building every single night. Multiple will ask you for weed as you walk, and have gotten aggressive when I simply responded that «I don’t have any»
Management is impossible to contact. They claim to have walk in hours, but will often be «out» and any contact is required to go through the overworked student assistants. I had reported issues and requests directly pertaining to my health go ignored for months on end, but within 20 minutes of threatening legal action received a call from not one, but two of the managers attempting to talk me out of it by suggesting I instead «wait it out»
I could go on for another 50 pages about how awful this place is. I was forced to move out due to health issues about a month ago. During this time, management attempted to extort every penny out of me while threatening to report me to the school and have registration holds placed on my account.
Don’t sign the lease. Find ANYWHERE else and it’ll be better than this hellhole.

University Pointe is conveniently located downtown, has nice amenities, and is affordably priced. But alas, the buck stops there! I’ve been living at University Pointe for two years. The management and their minions are inept. My roommates are horrid slobs. Maintenance is a joke. Internet is slow. The printer in the computer lab seldom works. The trash chute doesn’t function and there are signs threatening penalties. The bed space in the 4×2 apartment is a paltry 110 square feet. If you can look past all of these shortcomings, then the price and location can’t be beat. If you value peace of mind over money, then I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere.

Do not even consider this apartment complex, you will be very disappointed by the poor customer service. I would give zero starts if that were an option.
1. During the application process, you will never speak to the same employee twice, and you will get a different story about the status of your application every time. I think they make money on the application fee and purposely make it easy to pay but challenging to complete an application.
2. Once the application process is finally resolved, they will be dishonest about move in possibilities. With us, we were told to sign a lease for a ⁹⁄₂₅ move-​in date and something would open earlier. Since, my daughter is a student athlete, her PSU report date was 8/​4, she was deceived into thinking she would not be couch surfing or finding a month-​to-​month option to only have to move again on ⁹⁄₂₅. We constantly kept in contact with them, promises were made and broken.
3. We were offered a UP sublet from ⁸⁄₄ until 9/​1, now how is that helpful? OK 24 days homeless instead of 50+.
4. We found a student living in UP whose roommate had moved out and the new roommate was scheduled to move in ⁹⁄₂₅ – perfect right? We would assume the lease for the 50+ days. UP would not process the request. The original tenant had turned in their key and UP had locked their bedroom. Despite the original tenant and our family calling, writing, and negotiating with UP, UP refused to unlock the door. Ridiculous!
5. Because finding housing for 50+ day was extremely challenging, we looked to break the lease and find another residence. With over a two month notice, never having moved into the apartment, UP is asking for 1.5 times the rent to break the lease. This is currently being argued.
I would NEVER agree to pay upwards of 10K a year to live in a place that provides such horrible service. AVOID this like the plague!

Okay at first I’m not going to lie I was disappointed with the management and some of the staff at university pointe. My papers were lost and my co-​ed agreement was always invalid for one reason or another, and at the end I was informed I couldn’t live with the roommates I told the staff I wanted to live with 5 months prior. I was angry but I asked to talk to the manager and she said she would see what she could do. I emailed her a few times after and she finally said we could all live together! Her going out of her way and making sure she kept her promise went a long way with me! If you respect the people who run the place they’re not really that bad… they try to help you as much as they can but some of the people that live there are just morons!

Place is terrible any good reviews are a promotion by them to win a bike its all bullshit by far its like living at a douchebag bar

If I could give it zero stars I would. I would also suggest you NEVER live here. It is run by teenagers including the management.

University Pointe is like an STD. You don’t want it, but once you have contracted it you’re stuck with it for a while.
The «Community Assistants», management, and security will all lie to you. This is systemic, cultured, and comes from corporate. They have no respect for your true wishes, and do not care about you as a resident.
For example, once I overheard a CA tell a woman on the phone «we don’t email our leases, it’s a policy not to email legal documents»
I have a copy of the lease sitting in my inbox. Even if they only email leases to residents or guarantors they should just be honest and say that.
The lease is full of blatant violations of Multnomah County and city of Portland law. For example, it says you must furnish ID when asked.
You do not even have to do this to a sworn police officer.
The «security» patrols will try and manipulate and scare residents into searching rooms so they can get fines from residents. They will lie about their ability to search a room and what their rights are. They will ask and manipulate language multiple times to try and get consent to search rooms.
They expect 100% compliance with their draconian (and illegal) policies, and if you do not comply they will treat you like a criminal. This is pure fascism.
I have also seen them yell and scream (like a small child throwing a temper tantrum) if they feel like they are losing control of a situation.
There are some CAs that are nice and at least try to help, but more often than not is impossible not to get an unrehearsed and honest answer from anyone in management. I almost feel sorry for the CAs, as they have to deal with irritated residents like me, but that’s what they signed up for.
Management is not reachable via phone, they just don’t talk to residents over the phone which is telling of how they feel about us. I have heard of multiple people having to resort to threatening legal action, or threatening to review security camera footage for the management to pay attention to them.
Last year, a friend of mine was assaulted in his apartment by his hostile roommates. UP security and staff did not adequately address the problem, and my friend had to move out a find a new place.
Bottom line: Avoid if you can. If you can’t, show the lease to PSU’s Student Legal Services and get yourself a copy of the Multnomah County Tenant’s Rights handbook. Make sure they do not do anything to you that is illegal. Never consent to a room search. Good luck.

ABSOLUTE MOST TERRIBLE PLACE EVER! Management was rude and deceiving and awful don’t waste your time or money here they will suck you dry and then some.

University Pointe doesn’t even deserve one star.
I’ve lived here for about 6 months, I’m halfway through my lease and I am absolutely dying to get out. In between the horrible unkempt stairwells (smells of puke, cigarettes, weed…) the horribly rude staff and management, and the lack of security: I would never in a million years refer someone to live here. I live in a 4 bedroom/​2 bath unit and it’s really terrible. The bedrooms have absolutely no privacy because the walls are so thin (I can hear my roommates talking the phone, eating, watching Netflix, & having sex. How nice) the cleaning crew will enter your apartment at random times. Of course, they give you a 24 hour notice but sometimes they show up a week late and it can be from anytime between 9am to 6pm. Some the scarier experiences at UP were when random maintenance people come waltzing in my bedroom at 9 in the morning!!! Not kidding, that actually happened multiple times. Aside from all of that, my roommates are just downright horrible girls. I keep to myself and I am perfectly agreeable and nice but since you are assigned random roommates, there are a lot of conflicts because people can range from being fresh out of high school to 30 years old and it creates a lot awkwardness and uncomfortable situations– living with strangers is no fun at all.
So, if you absolutely have to live here, fine. But here are some tips: PICK YOUR ROOMMATES. If you know people who also are moving into University Pointe who you think you would be good roommates with, request that from UP and you will most likely be able to live with that person. Secondly, file all complaints to the Better Business Bureau. Don’t go complaining to the staff at UP because you will get no results and instead a bad attitude. The two worst staff members are people who are highest ranking in the office, funny how that works. The bookkeeper & the head manager (Kelli) are some of the most incompetent and horrifically rude individuals I’ve ever come across.
This all may sound like an exaggeration but University Pointe is no joke. Don’t waste your time or money, you will be extremely ripped off.

The Customer Service Department doesn’t do much when calling corporate they don’t solve any of the problems that happen here. The management don’t know what they are doing at all.
(1) I was told my problem with the internet not working would be solved by the managers personally and that I wouldn’t have to take time off of school and work to fix my problem and nothings been done. This still is an on going problem for almost a month I haven’t had a working service and corporates done nothing about it. I’ve withdrawn from PSU as a student this term because I don’t have time in between going to work to go out of my way to the library at PSU because I want to work from home. As a full time worker and college student this apartment doesn’t fit my needs at all. Now I have to wait until next term its not worth living here as its jeopardized my education by their services not working. The times I want to do my homework will be around 11pm to 6am and there’s no working service for internet at all.
(2) They spam your email with countless ad’s, Even when I unsubscribed they were still sending me ad’s and wouldn’t stop.
(3) You can’t purchase your own internet for the apartments. Even using the tech support the people don’t know what they’re doing here. I wouldn’t recommend living here.
(4)The staff constantly message me about paying my rent as well when I’ve already sent them my check a week prior its just an awful system they are super unorganized.
(5) The cleaning staff aren’t polite at all, none of the staff members are nice.
(6) The process they use to distribute packages is horrible. They mark all over the packages.
(7) The people who work at the kiosk usually never know the right information.
(8)There’s constant service updates at these apartments so people come into your apartment with limited notice.
(9)They don’t have a scanner for use for the residence which is something that is much needed for my work at PSU.
(10) The printer is constantly broken.
(11) They tried to illegally evict me which I had to get an attorney for to tell them «no you can’t do that»
(12) They tried to charge me a trash fee which they couldn’t do which I had to get an attorney to write to them telling them they can’t do that.
(13) They will mess up your lease if you ask them to print it out. I was missing pages in my lease when asking them to print out my lease.
(14) They have made it where if you find someone to take over your lease because no one wants to live here that when someone takes over your lease you have to pay a fee for breaking your lease plus two months rent even if someone takes over your lease
(15) Its been a month and no ones contacted me about getting my deposit back after they told me they would twice.

It’s a very stressful place to live. People that hosted me here while I was couch surfing specifically told me to go somewhere else when I moved here as they lived here prior to moving out into their own house. I didn’t listen, thus I understand now why they said not to come here.

The management at University Pointe is unreasonable and unprofessional. Maintenance is slipshod, even with the elevators. They kept part of my deposit because of «excessive wear» on the fake leather couch. It was not abused. It was simply sat on and the plastic finish flaked off. They also charged me for a dirty sink when there were still other people using it when I moved out! Their explanations make no sense, and they are inflexible and unreasonable. I witnessed several tenants being abused in the same way I was. Avoid this place.

I lived here last year and was extremely disappointed with the entire experience. The problems started even before I moved in when management lost all of my move-​in paperwork and it continued from there with maintenance issues never being resolved, broken elevators, broken trash chutes, etc. I am trying to be done with UP but it has been a week and a half since they were supposed to have mailed me my security deposit and I called today and it still hasn’t been sent. The ONLY positive that I have to say about UP is that it’s a good place to live to meet fellow college students. But again the management of UP is the worst that I have ever experienced. Horrible organization and problem solving.

University pointe is the absolute worst place I have ever live. The management is completely incompetent. It’s almost as if it is a requirement to be an idiot to work here. I had nothing but problems and terrible appliances since I moved in. They harass their residence and are completely inappropriate in the work space. One of my roommates accused me of smoking and they tried to charge me with a fee immediately. They always assigned absolutely crazy roommates to my room who clearly had mental health issues. When I moved out they literally made up charges to take my security deposit. For 600 a month it’s not remotely worth it. I absolutely hated my experience here. The staff is mental and completely incapable of doing their job. Don’t move here!!!

This place has lease contracts and rules. If you’re an adult who realizes that this is a great location in good shape. They also dropped the price from a few years ago so it’s a very good deal compared to other comparable student units.

The management sucks here

University Pointe is an excellently located apartment complex right on the PSU campus. Perfect if you are a student, but even if you are not this apartment allows you to live right downtown at a decent price point! Also boasts amenities like a workout facility on the first floor and is right on the MAX line! Only problem is that it can get a bit noisy on the weekend, but perfect if you are college aged or similar!

The people running University Pointe are completely inadequate and unprofessional. It is disappointing that management is awful because the living conditions are alright. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone because University Pointe has no idea how to run an apartment complex.

DO NOT MOVE INTO HERE! things are constantly broken, trash chute is always full. there has been a spit wad outside my door for 2 months and has not been cleaned up. the CA’s never do anything about the noise or neighbor complaints they get. sometimes the elevators have been broke over a month, and there are blind and disabled people who live here. Sometimes the fire alarm will go off at odd hours for no reason. this is also a party building, so do not plan on getting any studying done if you live here. Management is always changing so there is never correct information communicated between old and new staff. they never give 24 hour notice of entry, which is something they have to do by law. if you live here i suggest read up on renter rights. I will be surprised if anyone see’s this because University Pointe pays to get bad ratings taken off.

The worst thing about University Pointe is the management by far. They aren’t very welcoming and don’t seem happy to help you. The majority of them are college students who, this is their first real job. They don’t know how to do their jobs. They constantly make mistakes with your rent or payments. They say you haven’t paid when you obviously have and have PROOF of payment, and they also throw random fees on your account that sometimes don’t apply to you. It takes them way too long to fix their errors.
This is a pretty new building, but things are always breaking or out of service. Our heater just broke, the elevators are constantly having problems and the washing and dyer machines are out of service multiple times per month. It took the building over 3 weeks to fix my floors washers and dryers.
It’s super loud in the apartment and hallways, the walls are thin. The crack at the top of the ceilings and in bedrooms lets noise right through. FORGET privacy in here, you hear everything. (prepare for awkward moments if you’re trying to have alone time with anyone.)
Rent is pretty expensive for what you get and I don’t think it’s worth it. It’s right on campus at PSU making the building super convenient, but most people leave after less than a year because living here isn’t the best. Of the ten friends I’ve known living in this apartment complex, they’ve all moved out or are moving out in less than a year! It’s terrible!
I don’t recommend this building to my friends and let them know it sucks living here.
Choose somewhere else if you can, although they make it seem like a great place to live.
