Umpqua Bank

Watch out if your balance is zero for only 10 days they will automatically close your account without informing you. Even if you have an account that doesn’t require a minimum balance. The employees are friendly but the practices of the corporate bank aren’t very customer friendly. I was a customer for 6 years and that still didn’t matter. The worst part is I still have direct deposits coming in after they didn’t inform me of the closure. I think I will stick with my community credit union instead of trying to reopen the account, because who knows when they might just close it on me again.

It is hard to find a cooler bank in a cooler location. Ok, parking and driving sucks, but it is in Multnomah village, so maybe you should bike there anyhow. But for real, they know who I am and it isn’t really my bank as all I am doing is paying my mortgage.
They are friendly and a part of the community. The other day, I walked in to pay my mortgage and there was a guy watching soccer (probably football to him) on a computer there. How cool is that for a bank?
Overall, I find them to be a helpful and friendly bank. Since they are merging with Sterling Bank, they will be a lot larger. Let’s hope the culture stays with the new entity.

I know this is likely common practice now, but I expect local, neighborhood banks to do better. I brought in change to exchange for bills, and was told this service is only provided to account holders. There are no branches of my bank in walking distance of my home. So now I will have to either take a bus or acquire a ride or figure out some other method. Hopefully without defaulting to a Coinstar machine. Very disappointed. All over $ 13 of already counted and sorted coins.

Rethink the way you do banking, I love it here they think local. With super helpful staff who somehow remember your first name and what your account is. Banking has somehow become a pleasure and the kids hound me to go in because every time I go in they give me some yummy moonstruck chocolates. I love having a healthier relationship with the bank and money in general. Long gone are depressing long lines in super corporate and oppressive atmosphere’s with people behind high counters wearing miserable attitudes and trying to give my kids gross suckers.

This bank is fantastic. The staff are all very personable, efficient and helpful. They seem to know all customers by name and are very knowledgeable about what’s going on the community. I just moved to the west coast and opening a new account at Umpqua was easy, and it’s lightyears better than my last bank (TD) If you love the freebees, this place is packed full of them! Free coffee and internet café, chocolates, artsy postcards, once I actually got bonzai tree seeds, proof that Portland really is magical. (and weird). Umpqua bank also supports local economy by selling locally handmade crafts and the like. The only con I have is that unlike most big banks, they can’t print a new card for you on site, it takes about 10 days to arrive after making the account, but thats expected from a small bank. I’m so happy I chose Umpqua and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for more from your bank!

Our family and business use this branch of Umpqua and we LOVE them. All the staff, Susan, Joe, Brandi, Mark are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They go out of their way to assist customers. I can’t imagine banking in the Village without them.

Great customer service, cheerful, knowledgeable and humble, not your Wall Street bank-​like atmosphere at all. Local investing, environmental awareness, easy to work with and welcoming.

As a Multnomah Village resident, I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of this branch for the past nearly-​a-​year.
Same great, friendly (if a touch slow) service at this branch as all the other UBs I’ve visited.
