Beautiful church, good music, interesting sermon. I can only give two stars though as the church felt very unwelcoming. My daughter and I attended a Sunday service while visiting Portland. No one spoke to us or made us welcome! I introduced myself to the usher as a visitor. We hung out for a bit after the service and went to the lovely bookstore. Still no one greeted us or showed any interest at all in our presence. Didn’t make me want to return.

The music and the cathedral itself are both beautiful. I attended two Sunday services and Easter Vigil last year when I lived in Portland. When I went here with my friend in October 2011, the priest gave an amazing sermon. Also, they supposedly have a young adults program – which in my experience is rare at Episcopal churches in Portland (Washington DC, where I live now is another story!). However, the size of the congregation feels a bit impersonal to a newcomer.
