Tommy’s Window Tinting

I haven’t had my windows tinted here, but now I really want to because of how friendly the people at Tommy’s are! Late last night, I got a flat tire on 12^th, parked my car, and Ubered home. This morning, I rushed back to my car to try to change the tire before the rain started. Unfortunately, it started pouring just as I got there, and the traffic on 12^th was bad so my boyfriend had me pull into the parking lot right there, which happened to be Tommy’s. Just as we started setting up the crappy jack to change the tire, the garage door went up and they had us pull in and changed the tire for us! With their jack and pneumatic wrench it was done in two minutes and we stayed dry. I’m so glad I got a flat there, and will definitely be back for my tinting needs. 5 stars for awesomeness!

I am so happy with the services I received at Tommy’s. I researched several places before I had my window tint and clear bra done. Tommy was highly recommended amongst the car group my husband and I are part of.
I also referred my mother to his business since she bought a car the same time I did. When we called to make an appointment Tommy’s wife was very friendly and helpful. Before getting my car tinted Tommy asked me how dark I wanted to go. He was very professional and showed me the differences. I really appreciate him taking the time to educate me on what I wanted to do with my car.
We look forward to bringing another car to him in the upcoming months. Thank you for the great professional service.

Let me start off by saying I read reviews & this place seemed semi decent! I made my appointment more than a month ago. Today I arrived 30 minutes early to check in etc. I get in & Tommy the owner is at the counter asks me my information & I give it… He has ZERO paperwork of my appointment set up my name NOTHING! I let him know my tint has already been paid for by a friend! He has again 0 information other than the person prepaid! I ask him to see the colors for to tinting & he has a cow that he has to move from his counter position to walk less than 20 ft to the screen! He says for your car 35% & I let him know that’s not dark enough… Little did I know I was going to get a lecture on illegal tinting & that I’d have to pay cash… Ummmm my service was prepaid so check & see if the person paid cash or card & Tommy couldn’t even tell me that! He had no clue!!! He then asks why I have such an attitude… Ummm I don’t have an attitude but you can’t tell me what the person paid, you have ZERO of my information not even my name anywhere & I’m ok with this?! NO THANK YOU! He then tells me I have 2 options I can calm down or I can get out of his shop! Bro I myself and totally fine but the lack of information you have for me is ridiculous! You’ve already taken payment for a service that you didn’t even do yet! I let him know the party who paid for me was out of town and couldn’t be reached & that I wanted 15% tint! He continued his rant and rave to his buddy who said he could vouch for my attitude & I flat out said I could careless for the person or anyone else in this shop! He then preceded to tell me he would give the parties money back and I could get out! He then reassured me he was the owner! I then reassured him he was an asshole & had poor business skills! He then decided to yell «ya know what FUCK YOU.» & that my friends is why I will never go back! So if you do schedule an appointment be sure they wrote everything down!
I do NOT wish to give him 1 star Id like to give him a –5 because service was that awful! If anyone wants a tint I recommend «The Tint Guy» off 82^nd! He’s provides the best service & when he heard what happened at Tommy’s he said that’s not the first time!

Always top notch. I called to make an appointment and got a super friendly woman on the phone who was able to work me into the schedule the next day! I was expecting a week or two based on my weird schedule, but she totally took care of me.
When I went in the next day to get my tint done, my car was in the service bay within 5 minutes of my arrival and they were off and running. Super efficient and super friendly staff.

This place was great, super easy to work with, amazingly personable, and if you had any issue at all they are quick to make sure you are happy with your experience.

I got the windows tinted on my new Lexus at Tommy’s in January and it turned out great! And the owners were really friendly, including the office dog. What a sweetie!

Exceptional, friendly people — and an amazing job on my Prius. I am writing this about 6 months after getting my new Prius tinted, because I just stopped back into the shop to see if I could buy some tint for my clocks at home that shine too bright. The owner gave me different tint samples for free, and I was just reminded how kind and professional they were. So here I am! I’m all for supporting local businesses, and this one in particular, deserves all the success it is awarded! Thanks!

I’ve had 2 cars tinted by Tommy’s. 2005 SAAB 9 – 3 Aero and most recently — 2008 SAAB TURBO X.
Tommy & team are so helpful, friendly, and genuine. Reasonably pricing. Warranty issues dealt with seamlessly.

We’ve had two vehicles tinted by Tommy’s, both times they’ve done an excellent job. Most recently, they did some striping on our Dodge Charger, which took the aesthetic to a whole new level! We are very pleased with the quality & service of their work, and highly recommend them.

I called them up and asked to see if I could get a quote. The lady on the phone said she would send someone out in 2 weeks, so we scheduled a day. The night before the appointment I got a call to rescheduled another week out, which I understand because there was inclement weather. So a week later on a Thursday, the guy showed up about 15 – 20 minutes late, but to his defense he did call me and said that he was on the way. I met the guy. He seemed really nice and genuinely interested in helping me tint my windows. I was thinking to myself he’s really knowledgable and I definitely want to move forward assuming I get a reasonable quote.
He told me he would even use photoshop to put different types of tints on my windows so I can get a good idea of what I want. Also he said that he would put a sample tint on my window for me to get an even better idea, and would stop by later that night. He asked for my email and he said that he would email me the quote. Several days roll by I hear nothing. I contacted them again Tuesday. The lady on the phone said that he was out of the office already that day, and that she would talk to him the next day early in the A.M. I said I wanted a quote and explained to her I haven’t received any email or phone communication from the guy. I waited another couple of days, so I called them again Thursday. She tells me she talked to him and said that he said I wanted to wait in the summertime to complete the window tinting, so there was no point in giving me a quote because quotes are only good for 30 days. Yes I want the window tinting because it gets hot in the summertime but I am ready to move now and was just waiting for the quote.
SO the guy pretty much just brushed me aside after promising to email me quotes and the various other things he said because he didn’t feel I was going to make a purchase with his business at that time. Don’t tell me you’re gonna do all these things and brush me aside. I told the lady I was frustrated because: I waited 3 weeks for a quote. Then I was promised the quotes via email as well as some other things. I called to follow up 5 days later, and called another 2 days to follow up to only find out that he brushed me aside and there were no plans in getting me a quote.
I don’t know the quality of his window tinting but what this business needs to do is work on their integrity: Do what you say you’re going to do. If something comes up email me/​call me saying they can’t get to my quote for several more days instead of just ignoring me.
They are nice people, but just being nice alone doesn’t cut it.

Tommy put a clear bra on my recently purchased Audi Q5. Different from the dealer recommended bra that comes as a pre-​cut kit with no ability to add or reduce the coverage area, Tommy put the clear film exactly where I wanted it and suggested several areas I hadn’t been thinking of.
The work was excellent, on time, and about half the cost of the dealers kit. I couldn’t be happier with the work done and the professionalism of Tommy, Lisa and their staff. Two weeks after the application, I saw a tiny air pocket and stopped by to see what might be done with that. Tommy took care of that on the spot and was genuinely interested in making sure I was happy with his work.
I would recommend him without reservation and expect I’ll be back to have more work done in the future.

Total breeze, great service.
I had them do the «clear bra» on a new car. I had done some research and knew what the dealer charges for the same service (basically, double b/​c dealers contract w/​places like Tommy’s to have the service done on new cars), so the price-​quote and appointment process at Tommy’s lasted about 5 minutes w a clear description of what coverage I’d get at the stated price.
I had an appt a few days later, brought the car in, and the car was ready the next day (as promised). When I picked the car up, Tommy’s (Tommy himself, I think) actually did _​more_​than they/​he said they would initially. And the quality appears top-​notch, although that will obviously depend on how it stands the test of time.

Excellent service! They were very knowledge about the different grade of tints and Oregon laws. Did a great job on my Infiniti coupe. I would definitely recommend to others.

My friend told me I had to come here to get my windows tinted and I’m glad I did. I worked with Tommy, and he was very easy to talk to and told me what the job would cost and when it would be ready. Their pricing is very fair and reasonable. They even waited for me after they closed so i could pick my car up after work, which I felt bad about but they were very understanding. I love my windows, and everything looks perfect. Thanks!

Anecdote:
I bought a new Mercedes Benz E550 Coupe from the dealer in Portland. When I inquired about tinting the windows they recommended Tommy’s and sub’d the job to them (or so I was told). 6 months later the film started peeling on the front passenger window. To save time, I asked Mercedes (prime contractor) if I could just deal direct with Tommy’s (their sub). When I arrived to have the window repaired Tommy’s disclosed that they weren’t the sub and didn’t do the original work. Before I could decide my next move Tommy came right out and said «were going to fix it for you because we want it done right.» I was not looking for a handout just to get what I paid for. Tommy took ownership of someone else’s issue, eliminated me having to confront Mercedes, and made me a happy customer in the process. That’s unreal service. In fact, I broke out my iPad and was compelled to write this, my 1^st Unilocal review. Furthermore, although they could have just attempted to fix the small portion of tint that was peeling back they went ahead and replaced the window without a second thought. An exemplary business ethic. I will go out of my way to patronize companies like this. Well done and thank you Tommys!

AMAZING SERVICE! I have had 2 cars done here and Tommy, the owner, has done a stellar job on my tints. I cannot say enough about how much this place rules. They are a bit higher (price) than most other shops in PDX and they take a bit more time but it is always worth it. You get a quality job. Go here. NOW!

Not much to report which means Tommy’s is great! The tint job is clean, the product is high quality, and I felt my business was appreciated.
The sole thing that kept me from giving them 5 stars is that I had to clean my entire leather interior once they were done as either water or some sort of soapy solution was all over my car. Dash, door trim, rear seats, everywhere. A little more care in post install clean up and this place would get a 5 star for sure.
I will absolutely recommend them to anyone and will take all my future vehicles here. Great great work!

Fantastic Job!
I brought in my 2007 Infiniti G35x sedan to get the windows tinted. I selected the darkest tint allowed in Oregon just in case I decide to sell it in the future. After a few hours, the three technicians were completely finished. They were very careful climbing in and out of the vehicle, especially trying to get to the rear window. It was great watching them work, the amount of effort and detail involved in placing the 5 pieces of film was very interesting. There were 4 little bubbles on the driver’s window the next day, but within 48 hours they were gone. It has been over a month since they did the job on 02/​21/​2012, great results.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
