I just got some work done over the weekend and I couldn’t be happier. My tattoo looks better than I could ever imagine. Danny did an amazing job and I love the way it turned out. He was super helpful and did the tattoo exactly how I wanted it. I cant recommend him enough!

This place was worth it. I was a walk in, just in Portland for the day, and they readily accommodated me. Made my first tattoo an absolute breeze. Daniel was a notch above awesome, super quick and professional. My design was small, but he helped me piece it together, making sure it was exactly the way I wanted. And, he easily kept up with the heckling I was getting from my peanut gallery with a great sense of humor. Placement was perfect and the lines on my typography are beautiful. All in all, so impressed.

I was in in Portland on holidays and set up and appointment with Mile Clave. I could not be more happy and impressed with his work. Mike free handed the design I was after and then he did it all in one session due to the fact I had limited time.
I also appreciated the next day follow up to see how I was and that I was happy with work. It really does make a difference.

Was in Portland for the weekend and decided I wanted to go ahead with a tattoo I have wanted for quite a long time. Danny took me in as a walk-​in and I couldn’t be happier. The place was really clean, and they made me feel very comfortable. Danny was patient, had a great sense of detail and made sure it was done right. He explained aftercare well, and it seems to be healing nicely. Would definitely recommend!

Charlie is amazing! The shop is very clean and interesting to stare at for hour on end while being inked. Love this place!

These guys are awesome! Such a good experience for my second tattoo. They pay attention to detail. Definitely coming back for more and going to bring others here!

I have nothing but good things to say about ThoughtCrime. I’ve had two pieces done here and they still look great. If you’re looking for a place to get your first piece done, this is the place. The guys aren’t there to take over the appointment and make you feel like your opinions don’t matter. They’ll listen to what you want and are great at listening to how you feel about your design. Great service to say the least.

I had an amazing experience getting my tattoo at this shop. We were just visiting Portland for 3 days so I was a walk-​in which wasn’t a problem and Charlie was able to take care of me the next day. Charlie is a fantastic artist and not only made me feel comfortable but also took time getting to know what I wanted and to draw the perfect design. Here’s a haiku (as promised):

This is an amazing shop. I came in with a repair and Charlie was so excited to help me! Now that we are 2 session into fixing it, my tattoo is beyond my wildest dreams and Charlie might even be more excited than I am to get it done.
Hall is one of the most knowledgable piercers I have ever met and you can tell that he cares about making sure everyone has a clean, and safe experience.
The artists are incredibly friendly, knowledgable, and truly care about all of their clients. The studio is gorgeous and I will be back time and time again!

A great shop with amazing artists. This is the place to go if you want to make sure your tattoo looks good. They will make sure it is epic. I’ve been going to Charlie for years and want to get tattoos from everyone in the shop eventually. Everyone does such beautiful work!

This place is absolutely awesome. The artists are all extremely tallented and do work that is incomparable to any other place I have checked out. Been going here for over a year Mike Clav doing some unbelievable art work. Always excited to get more ink. The place is very very clean and sterile with top if the line products.

My boyfriend and I went to thoughtcrime tattoo last weekend. It was not my first rodeo getting a tattoo, but it was by far the best ink and experience i’ve had. Mike Clave tattooed my knuckles and my wrist. I’m very happy and impressed with how they turned out. He free handed everything, and they turned out beautifully. My boyfriend Warren had his first tattoo done by jake pooler, and it turned out amazing! We were both really happy with everything. Their prices are fair! Not over priced! We also interacted with Charlie Mcgail, and Danny Clave. All the guys were great. Super funny and nice. All in all it was a great experience. I would recommend these guys and we will definitely be going back!

Mike has done a cover up for me & we’re almost finished up with my half sleeve, I couldn’t ask for a better artist. The experience in the shop is always awesome & lots of fun, all the artists take their time to make sure you’re getting exactly what you want. You couldn’t pay me enough to go to another artist.

After searching a dozen other tattoo shops and portfolios in the Portland area I had all but given up and I was ready to go out of state. Then I came across Mike Clave’s portfolio on
. It was impressive to say the least, so I made an appointment for my wife to get her new ink (as a guinea pig). I gave him the photo that she wanted and he hung it on the wall and began to tattoo FREEHAND! I had never seen someone tattoo without a stencil ! I was blown away at the quality of his work; so much that I made an appointment to have him tattoo my face! I am currently in the middle of having a face-​piece done by Mike. I will post when it is completed in April. Meanwhile I will put up a picture of my wife’s Castle tattoo. If you EVER have the need for impeccable work and value for your tattoo dollar you cannot go wrong with Mike Clave @ThoughtCrime Tattoo !

Awesome experience! My hubby and I stopped in (after finding them on Unilocal and reading great reviews) and although ²⁄₃ tattoo artists were busy, we waited for the third (I believe it was Mike) for maybe 15 minutes. Then I shared what I wanted to do, he gave me some great ideas to customize it. I also asked about some help with a tattoo I already had, which had «blowouts». Now I have a beautiful hummingbird and my precious tattoo is seriously cleaned up and beautiful again! Thank you!!! Now my hubby is seriously the considering returning for one before we head back home (northern Cal).

So after reading a bunch of reviews for pretty much every tattoo shop in Portland, I decided on this one for my first tattoo. I knew exactly what I wanted, I just had to find the right place and artist to execute it. Charlie made the whole experience great, and I love his style. (Jake too!)
I’m really glad I chose ThoughtCrime for my first tattoo and I’ll definitely be back for more. :)

I worked with Jake: I had my tattoo refined cuz wasn’t what I ment to do so I showed to jack and he worked on it… Jack interpreted my idea perfectly, and then I want to add more skulls and Jake got that done perfectly !!!
All the guys the works in this shop are really friendly and looks like they really love what they doin!
They don’t waste time in this shop!!! Soonest il be back in Portland I’m going again for sure!!!

Charlie and Jake were amazing. My girlfriend and I came here 50 min before close, and were both able to get tattooed. I got a small tattoo on my ribs and seeing as it was my first tattoo I was terrified, charlie made the process very comfortable, and doable. Jake did my girlfriends tattoo and was hilarious he gave her «precious» elephants on her ankle, Jake’s artwork is amazing as well, he is such a talented individual, so if your looking for portrait work hit him up. The total for both our tattoos was 50 dollars each, shop minimum lol. Overall, thoughtcrime tattoo is a really clean shop located in the heart of downtown Portland, all the artists are hilarious, and ya’ll should definitely give them a call about you next tattoo!

I stopped in to ThoughtCrime Tattoo today on my quest for a new septum ring. I’m bored with the horseshoes and the continuous rings (that are a beast to take out by yourself). I happened to walk by and thought I would stop in. And I’m glad I did!
While these guys don’t pierce or carry body jewelry anymore, they are about the friendliest shop I’ve *ever* been to! Mike was especially helpful and has a great sense of humor. The next time I’m in the market for a new tattoo, this shop will be on my short list (which is saying something for me because I already have a go-​to tattoo shop that I trust).

I’ve had multiple pieces done here and have walked away extremely happy with the work every time. The guys working here are all extremely talented and professional, I’d recommend to anyone looking for quality work.
In short — Great Staff, Great Shop, 5 stars all the way!
