The Treehouse Nursery

The people who provide the care are kind and loving. Sadly, the new toddler house on 58^th St is lacking in significant ways. Our little one attended for four weeks, but we realized quickly that Treehouse was not ready to expand from the 44^th St location.
Within weeks of opening they were issued a citation and fined by OSHA for lead paint chips in the backyard. The handling of the situation was lacking in leadership and transparency. The director was asked to inform parents immediately of any future safety concerns. Even though she was very reluctant to own her lack of communication about the lead, she said would. However, a few days after the meeting, the furnace went out and stopped working on one of those less than 32 degree days. She did not inform parents. Instead, she used space heaters and mentioned nothing of it.
You must pay a charge for diaper/​wipe service. Multiple times my little one had a tiny (wrong size) diaper on when he came home and they would run out of wipes and use wet paper towels. Not ok, especially if you’re charging for a service.
There could be potential in the new toddler house. We just lost our faith and can’t recommend this location because of serious health and safety issues and lack of trust in the leadership.

You’d be hard pressed to find another preschool where your child will receive as much love and attention. My son has been going to Treehouse for nearly two years and I still have to drag him away at the end of the day. I gather from other reviews this school has gone through some growing pains and hiccups along the way. My only response to that is that the children have always remained first priority. If your family has a degree of flexibility and willingness to help the school succeed, you will be joining a nurturing and creative environment where your child will thrive.

Our child absolutely loves the Treehouse Nursery. She’s always introducing us to new songs and comes home with all kinds of stories about her friends, the teachers and the fun experiences she’s had. The owner does an excellent job sharing images, song lyrics and puppet show stories – which makes me feel connected to my kid even when I’m at work. Most of the families and teachers are involved personally or professionally with the Portland community and this makes for a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for parents and kids alike.
