This store features hand crafted jewelry, furniture, pottery, glass and some clothing. The quality seemed to be exceptionally high across the board. We came for jewelry but ended up browsing the whole store and spent an hour looking. We found great choices for a special wedding anniversary present. Thanks to the artisans and to Real Mother Goose for bringing them together.

I was very disappointed and upset with the customer service I received after I visited a couple months ago looking for an engagement ring. I was looking for a unique ring and thought The Real Mother Goose would carry some jewelry styles more along the lines of what I was looking for. I was right and they certainly had some rings I really liked, but the employee that helped me was almost cold and aloof and made me feel very unwelcome. My family has been shopping at The Real Mother Goose since I was very young and I was very disappointed with the poor experience. We would have considered buying an engagement ring and both wedding bands there but since the customer service was by far the poorest I have experienced while engagement ring shopping I certainly won’t be going back for jewelry and will think twice before shopping at Real Mother Goose for anything else in the future as well.

This is a lovely large store with great customer service. Some of the prices are high, like one finds in places with such high quality items. There is a huge selection of jewelry. The wood turnings are beautiful. So many of the pieces are unique. I first discovered this business at PDX. I almost missed my flight that day. Highly recommend!

The Real Mother Goose has beautiful jewelry, furniture and other decorative, artisan items. I have always enjoyed browsing/shopping there. However, the customer service on my most recent visit was frustrating,(the clerk was rude) and I will not return. My husband and I were looking at rocking chairs, and we had his mother with us, visiting from Pennsylvania. We left the store, without purchasing anything, when I heard the sales clerk say«There’s a lot of wishful thinking going on here.» We were the only people in the store. Needless to say, I was offended and felt that her attitude about the patrons in the store was quite demeaning and judgmental. I will take my business elsewhere, to a store where the clerks are appreciative or at least friendly to the patrons. I buy local, and my husband and I support local artists. There are more than enough places in Portland to shop without patronizing a store that clearly does not appreciate my business and the clerks are rude. The fact that I was even able to overhear her is ridiculous.

I absolutely love the stores for their unique and beautiful jewelry and handcrafted items. I live in Hawaii, so every time I’m on my way back home, I always stop in to buy a pair of earrings. I often find really fabulous pairs reasonably priced and great quality. The last time I was in Portland, I lost one of my pair of earrings, stopped in at the airport shop and was assured the artist could replace it. They contacted the artist, sent me two emails communicating with me about the progress of replacing my earring and sent the earring to me at a reasonable rate and in a short amount of time. The downtown store is a bit busier which may account for the uneven reviews for the service. I did go in and buy a jewelry box from the downtown store and they helped me to figure a way to get it on the airplane as a carry-on. That saved me about $ 90.00 in shipping costs. That added up to good service for me. I’m going back again and again.

I highly recommend The Real Mother Goose for their merchandise. They have beautiful and unique jewelry and hand crafted items from a variety of artisans. We have bought special gifts here that we couldn’t have found anywhere else. At the same time, there is an unsettling vibe here. The employees are generally either downright unfriendly or, at best, somewhat detached. We bought several things anyway, but their reception was not encouraging.

This store has great jewelry. If you’re looking for a men’s wedding band this is the store to check out, they had such a great selection compared to many other jewelers in the area! Very friendly staff, and its always great to buy local.

So, my sister and I went in there before going home, our car was parked in the garage above. We spent quite a bit of money. The salesman that helped us was very knowledgeable, and good at his job. When we cashed out, I asked some grey haired woman behind the counter if they validated parking. She was almost hostile, incredibly rude. I love this store, but what an off-putting experience. How about, «I am sorry, no, we do not validate parking». How simple would that be.

4 stars for the crafts and service but 2 stars for their policies. My husband bought me a necklace and earrings and it wasn’t really what I wanted. They have a 10 day exchange or credit only policy. Unheard of only 10 days and the goods there are so personal sometimes it could be hard to find something to exchange.

this is an awesome store. one of the last few«not mass produced somewhere» stores where you can buy«art». they sell everything from jewelry(quite a large selection) to handmade furniture. there were very few things in that store that were aesthetically unpleasant. everything just looks and feels awesome. it generates a nostalgic feeling of a time before the ikeas and the claires. the prices range from affordable to shitload. the location is kind of hidden and probably doesn’t help their traffic. overall an awesome store that everyone should check out at some point.

Went in there today nov 23rd2011. The worst customer service EVER! Lots of ladies working in there and didn’t even try making eye contact or asking if they could show many anything! Very disappointed in a local shop to show local support for our economy! And the art is beautiful but completely over priced!

I love all the Oregon artwork, handcrafted goods here at Real Mother Goose. My wedding rings and the pretty glass goblets we used in our ceremony(handblown and vibrant purple) came from here. Whenever we need to buy someone a special wedding gift or present, we head here. The shop people are typically very nice. There is a lot of breakable stuff in there, though, you might wanna leave the young uns at home.(and if yours is anything like ours, they will be whining for all the pretty stuff they see). I like Real Mother Goose. It’s neato.

Beautiful crafts of all kinds. Jewelry in silver, glass, precious and semi-precious stones, crystals. Carved wood boxes. Blown glass vases and ornaments. Gorgeous wood furniture. Whimsical clocks. Silk and fiber scarves. Leather purses as soft as butter in shades that include red, chestnut, lime, blue, and black. I went twice during a 3-day weekend and only wish I lived much closer(but I’d be broke due to all the incredible temptations). If you like buying a product made by a talented artist and knowing you won’t see your jewelry over and over on others, this is the place for you!

I will return here if I am ever in the market for jewelry. My husband and I bought our wedding rings here(as did my parents), so this place holds a bit of sentimental value for me. I loved that the staff was not pushy at all and were very helpful and patient. They don’t have a huge selection of jewelry, but enough for me, and that helped in not getting overwhelmed. The jewelry they have is a nice mix of classic/traditional and some more artsy pieces. I liked some of the pieces that were simple and classic, nothing flashy. They also have a lot of pottery, artwork, clothing, and other cool artsy gifts.

The Real Mother Goose has 3 Portland-area locations(including PDX) and specializes in handcrafted functional and decorative art: jewelry, glass, wood and other crafts. Gayle and I came into the main Downtown Gallery last Saturday to look around. It’s a large space and about a full city block long. And it’s full of an impressive array of arts and crafts at a wide variety of price points. The Real Mother Goose would be a good place to stop if you wanted to minimize store visits and maximize your choices. Staff was also helpful without being intrusive.
