The Pet Loft

This is an awesome pet store; easily my favorite in Portland. The employees are so, so nice and informative! Great prices, too.

Just visiting and stopped to get a couple of small plants for beta. Got told that since there is no bright light that their plants wouldn’t work. Wow. So I like the place but two little plants would have worked fine. No sale. Walked out.

I work next door to this place. They do not over price their items which is rare for a local pet store. They are super patient with me going in and rambling about my dog and his separation anxiety. They always have helpful suggestions and they actually know pets very well. I go in at least once a week. My dog is very spoiled. Don’t judge me. I go in and say «me again» and I’m sure the employees inwardly roll their eyes but they are super nice and understand my worries over my poor psycho puppy.

Pet Loft is my go-​to for all things pup related. The staff is friendly, very knowledgable about the products carried in store, honest in their reviews and always willing to answer questions/​make a recommendation.

I started going to Pet Loft because of it’s location and have been pretty pleased with the service. It has a big variety of items (I have a cat) and the staff are always welcoming and friendly.
Specifically, I’d like to thank Kellen for helping me several times. It’s clear that he is very knowledgeable and goes the extra step to think outside the box to meet customer needs.

I have to agree with the other reviewers on this one. What ever it is that makes a pet store really good they have got it for sure. I live near there, and I just wandered in there one day after repeated negative experiences at the other place across the street and up Macadam a little bit (by the Starbucks). The other place (I can’t even remember the name is a story for a different day. Great service, friendly, even kind of cool. I like this place. It is the penultimate for me. ****I have since moved away from my beloved home town, but I felt compelled to finish my review****

huge selection, friendly, helpful staff, great recommendations, lots of samples. I found this place while I was calling around to different stores searching for a specific harness for my dog. I wanted a certain color, and was having a hard time finding it anywhere. they were kind enough to order it for me at no additional charge, and called me when it arrived which was just a few days later. they have a great selection of everything, and the prices are very reasonable as well.

We’ve been going here for years, and our fur baby loves this place — and what’s not to love when you are a dog in a pet store?! The Pet Loft carries a variety of food brands, especially for owners with Gluten-​sensitive pups. Our gal is obsessed with Fromm, and the Bright Bites dental chews.
If they don’t carry something, you can always ask if they will special order it. It’s really nice to have a team that cares about their customers!

Found everything here that I usually order from amazon because I can’t find it in stores. While I did find an oatmeal allergy spray for my itchy dog (one that I have not yet tried of the many), I am docking one star because I did not find that one special/​interesting/​local «thing» I was hoping to get as a gift for a pet owner who has all the essentials.

The staff at Pet Loft is so friendly and so helpful. Every time we go in the pet shop its very clean and they have a variety of healthy food brands for your pet. A staff member helped us decide on a new brand of food for Moose, our lab, and he’s been on it for 7 months now. So far his coat is healthier, he looks and you can tell there’s a big difference on what food you put your pet on. The staff member (I forgot his name) told us everything about where the food was made and it turns out it’s a local turkey farm that humanely kills their turkeys. The guy also told us about the importance of joint health for taller dogs, so we bought glucosamine and chondroitin. The entire experience was awesome and that is where we continue to go for Moose’s food!

I love this store! The selection is great, and the customer service is fantastic. The cat I adopted turned out to be a picky eater and the staff were very helpful in providing samples that were within my budget until I found something my cat liked. Another time my cat sprayed in a specific area of my home. The staff provided input about solutions ranging from trying one item at a time to throwing the whole kitchen sink at the problem to solve it quickly. Really excellent!

I don’t think i’ve ever been to a better pet store! They have an ENORMOUS selection of everything, the workers are beyond friendly and welcoming — they offered numerous doggie treats to my pup and helped me in figuring out the best treats for my sensitive-​tummy puppy as well as the best size of dog food to get. I don’t think i’ve ever had a better experience.
You guys are amazing!

Five words describe this place perfectly: best pet store in America.
But seriously — the entire staff is extremely friendly and they have great prices. My dogs love this store and so do I.

How many times do you leave your regular pet store and say «Wow, I love them,» after you leave? (Or any store, for that matter?) It is every single time for me and my BF when we leave Pet Loft. Nothing new to report from my initial review on them, just that my love for them continues to grow which I did not think was possible!

The staff here are very helpful. I’ve found that the price of premium dog foods is very competitive and the fact that I can get literally everything I might need for my animals in one spot, with consistent and reliable availability of most products keeps me coming back.

Best pet store in PDX. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. We’ve been going there regularly since they opened more than a decade (?) ago. If you have a pet, this should be your go-​to store.

Knowledgeable friendly staff meets competitive prices and a wide variety of supplies. Who could ask for more? The Nutrisca dog food was hands down cheaper here (during their sale) compared to Amazon.

Dog. Cat. Bird. Rodent. This place has got your covered. If you are looking to feed it, they are looking to provide the right food for it. Very nice selection of dog and cat toys, as well as leashes and collars. Great selection of crate liners — I was happy to find something that would work equally as well in the back of my car. I do wish their bird toy and bird perch selection were more robust, but we are finding more and more that there is not enough real estate in in-​town stores for bird items.
They have a handful of cats available for adoption (these are cats that came from MCAS), and they’re kind enough to host outreach events for the dogs of MCAS. If not for the outreach event, I may never have known that this place exists. That whole SW section of town is admittedly a mystery to me, but I was there in no time from downtown the other day when I had to solve a bird food emergency. I will definitely come here more often now that I know they’re here, and their selection is somewhat different from my local pet store. I’m all about spreading the love among local businesses, and this one is so worth supporting.

The Pet Loft knows what they are doing, will give honest advice, and very individualized attention. Both me and my dog are much happier individuals after visiting the Pet Loft for some itch remedies. This place goes above and beyond your average pet store and are well versed in pet nutrition and health.
The selection is wonderful and caters to a crowd who believes their dog only deserves the best.
Toys, treats, medication, food, some adorable rodents, and of course, kitties who live the good life while waiting to be adopted.
I feel good supporting this business and only wish there were more businesses operating with such integrity.
