Went into Thai Food Café the other day for a late lunch. I have always seen this place before driving by but never eaten here. Ordered one thing the Tom Kha Kung(or Tom Kha with shrimp.) The broth was extremely sweet. So sweet that I had to ask for extra fish sauce with Thai chilies to add to the soup. I have been to Thailand and I make Tom Kha at home all the time, so I kind of have a general knowledge of flavor. I do have to say the customer service was great but with the food being so off I will not be returning.

The staff is extremely nice & the vegan options overfloweth. I recommend ordering for pick-up. We called our order in on New Year’s Eve & it was ready within minutes.

We stopped here for lunch 2 months ago. The place seemed to have fairly decent reviews/ratings here on Unilocal. So we gave it a chance. Parking was a challenge, had to park on the street, 2 blocks away, and being unfamiliar with that area, we felt a bit uneasy, not knowing if the car would be vandalized. When we got seated, service was a bit slow, even though the place was empty(1:30pm). We ordered a Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Noodle dish and requested extra spicy. The food took close to 15 minutes and was not spicy at all. Service was lacking as we wanted extra condiments to try and make the food spicier once we realized it was not spicy. We were so hungry, that by the time she came around to our table, we were already done. In summary: — Food was OK, especially if you are starving. — Service was a bit slow, taste wasn’t up to our rigid expectations. — I doubt we would stop there again.

Before heading out for the HUMP! Film Festival, I decided to grab a quick bite here, so glad that I did. Their Thai Iced Tea with Coconut Milk is the best Ive had yet! And I enjoyed the fresh salad rolls as well. The staff were all super sweet. Definitely a mom and pop joint.

Service was great! Food, if possible, even better. I had seafood and can imagine the exact dish I ate being 3x more expensive anywhere else. If you want amazing food in an unassuming setting, this is the spot for you

This restaurant was open on a Sunday evening, which was really convenient, considering the restaurant I had planned on going to was closed. The décor was a bit funky and all over the place, and a lot of the menus were handwritten, but I enjoyed this place nonetheless. Pretty standard Thai fare, but our server was very sweet and accommodating. I got the pad khee Mao, which was good, but not as spicy as I had hoped. It definitely fulfilled my craving for wide rice noodles, though. I’d probably stop by if I happened to be in the neighborhood, but I don’t think it’ll be a destination anytime soon!

I stopped here for an early dinner after traveling all day and essentially had the place to myself at 4 p.m. The drunken noodles with fresh seafood are delicious and a steal at $ 12. The portion size was huge! Service could have been a bit more attentive, but everyone was very friendly.

I’ve had 2 – 3 good experiences here, and the service is acceptable. Recently I ordered a dish that I would never order again, and I just want to share so that no one else wastes money on bad food when there’s so much good food to be had at this restaurant. Don’t order the«Thai Chicken BBQ», and especially don’t order it with plain rice noodles on the side instead of rice. The chicken pieces were chopped by a blind butcher and then boiled into submission. My thigh/leg piece never went near a barbecue or grill. It was clearly boiled and maybe graced with a few minuted in a toaster oven. The flavor in no way made up for the bad texture. I was put off my lunch and couldn’t finish the reasonably portioned meal, I took it home(because I can’t stand to throw away food) and let it sit there uneaten until it had truly gone bad. Stick to the pad thai and curries and leave the BBQ to other restaurants that specialize in grilling.

Very kind service. Lovely Thai Ice Tea. Fast service on my drink and food… less than 5 minutes. I ordered tofu pad thai. It was sweeter than I’m use to. But okay. Free wifi. It’s a good place to eat and study.

Terrible Thai food. Not sure why there are so many positive reviews when this place reeks and does not serve authentic Thai food at all. Tom yum soup was just sweet and a bit spicy with no fragrance from lemongrass nor spices nor the distinctive sour taste it should have. The cabbages, carrots, bean sprouts are all barely cooked or uncooked which has is something you would hardly find in Asian cuisine, unless it’s the condiments of Vietnamese phở. Food wasn’t cheap too, 4 spring rolls the length of a pinky for 5.95? Please… Not that the taste was good either. Save your time and money and buy ready made thai food from supermarket. They would sure beat this place.

Two words, peanut sauce. I’ve always felt like you can really get to know a thai place just by its peanut sauce. I demand perfection and by God I found it. Their salad rolls are to die for! I LOVE the sprouts and shredded lettuce and especially the lack of vermicelli noodles. Be sure to put a heaping spoon full of chili paste in your peanut sauce for added kick. I could seriously drink this stuff. If you can’t decide on an entrée do yourself a favor and just order a side of peanut sauce to enjoy with the free tom kha they offer. :)

Stopped in for… Service and atmosphere were great, they were busy, and my lunch came out fast. I ordered the calamari, with salt and pepper onion. Surprised, and Leary, that it was in tempura batter, but the breading was light and crunchy, and the squid was tender. I always order the calamari in a restaurant, if they have it, to check out how they treat their seafood. If it’s the frozen little rubber bands so many places serve, I’ll avoid the fish. I ordered the pah haong(sp?) A seafood sauté… My Thai food make or breaker… Heat scale of 1 to 4. I ordered five. The dish was OK… A little heavy on the premade oyster sauce(I can taste it a mile away) and I got… A tray of assorted peppers peppers…2, actually. Sombal and roasted red chili’s. The meal was good, but reminded me of strip mall Chinese buffet. I think I should have ordered the curry, but when I asked which was best, and which was hottest, I just got blank stare. And any Thai restaurant that doesn’t have their own secret green chili paste just waiting for boors like me, will probably never get a score higher than a three from… That being said, I think people who fear Thai food because of its reputed spiciness would love this place.

ok, first off let’s just be honest and say that when you walk in this place smells like old people… but PLEASE do not let this detour you! if anything it should encourage you that this place is too legit to quit! so i walk in at an early dinner hour, around 4:30, so the place is empty and there is this older gentleman sitting at the counter who greets me with a smile from across the room. the place is super cheesy and awkward colors and décor. mixed matched at cheap discount furniture places… BUT it’s amazing. i walk up, ask if i can do a take away order and he directs me to the menu under the glass in the counter top. pages upon pages as usual for any thai place: P then he makes sure i know that the specials boards are to my right. an entire board of just vegan options, just the specials may i remind you, and an entire board of regular specials. it was hilarious. i ask a few questions and up speaks a tiny lady over behind the counter i didn’t even see. the gentleman introduces us formally. she is a thai native and they have been married for years. he makes sure to let me know they are all her original family recipes. she helps me to decide and we settle on tom ka soup. she lets me be picky and ask for less broth. add on fresh spring rolls. super fast and so nice and friendly. after i sit i see signs all over the restuarant letting you know they also have thai iced bubble tea… EXcuse me?! two of my favorite sugar vices in one drink?! yes please. tacked that on. she brought it out for me to sip on while i waited. food was fast and hot. took it home and had quite possibly the best tom ka i’ve ever had. medium spicy here was pretty great. a nice hot slow burn with some kick to make you cough but not want to die. so i bet if you want spicy she can go there. the food i had was great. simple. and the folks who own this place seemed really genuine and lovely. please support this local business!

Found this place recently, had overlooked it because it appears sort of cheap. My friend took me here and I had a large portion of pad thai that was both spicy and sweet, for $ 8.75 I felt like I got fed a lot more than at Thai places in the area. Their selection is large, and their prices(relative to serving size) are very reasonable. It’s furnished a bit weird, they have a lot of strange looking things in there, but nothing uncomfortable. I get it to go and I can sit at the front table with free tea(and sometimes soup, doesn’t seem to be a pattern) and wait the 5−8min for my food. Considering how close it is to where I live, it’s the best Thai food I can find that is even close to simple. I went religiously to Mee Sen for a while and this is better for the price and convenience. Their fried rice is phenomenal, I haven’t tried everything on their menu yet, but everything I have had has been very good and has left me very satisfied. It’s pretty unnoticed I think, but I love it.

The #1 reason I love this place: They have TEMPEH. This family business is awesome, I live a block away and my roommate and I go here from 1 – 5 times a month. We’re regulars. The main lady that works there always remembers that we like chopsticks and the spice tray which is awesome service. They are super friendly, fast and affordable. I’m only giving it 4 stars because the meals are sometimes inconsistent; for example, how saucy the pad thai is. Also, i’ve tried their Pad Kee Mao 3 times and was not impressed, which is usually what I used to get at Thai restaurants. Nevertheless, this has made me try so many other things here and everything else I’ve ever got has been great! Oh and they have Bubble Thai Tea. AMAZING! I especially recommend the Pad Thai, Pad Thai Woon Sen, and Mango Avocado Fried Rice. WITHTEMPEH!!! You can’t get that anywhere else and it keeps me coming back!!!

Great husband and wife duo running the place. I’ve always enjoyed their pad tai and coconut chicken curry. The hours are great so you can even eat late and don’t forget to try their delicious Thai coffee! I think the wife is the driving force behind the menu and the husband is the front man behind the counter. I’m not completely sure, but her food is authentic and he is always a pleasure to interact with. He’s always got a friendly smile… even if you put in a to go order just minutes before they’re closing up shop. Don’t hesitate to give this spot a try!
