Tavin

Love Tavin! went for an airbrush spray tan and it was very fun and relaxing, even on a 25 degree day. Her studio is very cute and welcoming and so is she! I will be back :)

Best facial ever! Great NW Portland type of place. Private and relaxing and Tavin is the best!

Tavin is a star, not to be missed. She is super low-​key and very engaged when it is your time at the spa. If you need a perfect one on one experience Tavin is the best.

I’ve been to Tavin for waxing and spray tan, and both were awesome. She is easy to schedule with and is great at answering questions by email before an appointment and at the appointment itself. There is never an awkward moment with her, she is fantastic. Her studio also has a few parking spots, so no need to fight for parking in the Northwest.

So, here’s how I ended up here. Mother-​in-​law is good at buying presents and got me a «spa-​finder» gift certificate for my 30^th birthday. My friend Maria was here visiting from Vegas and brought Vegas with her so I spent two days sustaining myself on zero sleep, french fries and martinis. So I kind of looked like hell. So I whipped out my gc and found Tavin.
Now, I have really nice skin. I’m sorry, but I do. It comes from never tanning, always wearing sunblock and using «old lady» moisturizer since I was 18. However, I do have a blackhead issue sometimes and pores big enough to store loose change in. So I spend a lot of time picking at my face. But Tavin picked at my face FOR me. Um… this is going to save me hours a month. I’m seriously going to get my novel written in the amount of time I’m going to save from face picking. She also said, «I’m going to pick your face,» and did not use some hoity-​toity spa speak.
Other awesomeness… she does cleansing, two masks and also a neck and shoulder massage. My Herman Miller chair at work that probably costs more than my first car did sucks ass and so my neck hurts all the time. My neck felt great last night and all day today after Tavin’s massage. My skin feels really great today. I can’t stop touching it. I should probably stop that since it’ll clog my pores and start the vicious face picking cycle.
Tavin is a one woman show, so she gets to run her place how she wants. The one thing that really struck me is how «astute» she is. I’m a talker. I would have been totally uncomfortable sitting there in silence for an hour and she managed to pick up on that. I’m fully confident that she would pick up on a non-​talkers vibe too. She also didn’t try to sell me a bunch of stuff, which I always appreciate. However, if she did make a suggestion, I would 100% trust her.
Oh, and my gc covered all but $ 2.00 of my visit and all I had was my debit card. She said, «Oh, just bring me cash tomorrow. It’ll cost me more to run that thing.» (I live across the street from her studio). So when I brought her the money today she said, «I want my two dollars» a la Better off Dead. Bonus points for references to bad movies from the 80’s.
