Taproot Hosting

Taproot looks like a great company. What I’m doing is a little too big for them right now, but as they grow they will be able to provide the solutions I’m looking for. The 4 stars is for that — I’m not a customer, but the conversations I had with Stacey were stellar! They know what they are doing.

I’ll admit it… technology kinda scares me. When I first started my blog I had no clue even where to start… luckily I chose Taproot to host

They have a small SUPER helpful staff and totally personalized the whole interwebs stuff and were able to walk me through everything.
Taproot is the only webhosting company that I’m aware of that is so environmentally aware and puts their beliefs into practice!!!
Also, I was concerned that since I was in New York and not in the PNW area then I would have a difficult time with any customer service issues I might encounter… NOPE, prompt and personalized interactions every time!
I highly recommend Taproot Hosting for any hosting needs.

As a web developer and designer: I am so thrilled to send new web clients their way. I work with a *lot* of different clients’ web hosts, and it is a delight to work with individuals who will accommodate whatever needs, provide outstanding customer support, and who show a real commitment to helping local businesses and social justice organizations!
Not only that, I have yet to experience any of the aberrant mail server or web downtime that seems to happen with some of the mega-​hosts (whose prices are only $.50 cheaper per month).

I have been doing web design before Internet Explorer was invented. Yep, I’m old school. I have used various hosting companies for my web sites for the past 10 years, with varied results… the main thing I looked for in an internet host was price back then. But these days, there are so many choices for hosting, and with pricing being nearly the same across the board, I had to choose what else was important to me in a host.
I chose Taproot because they’re green, they’re local, and their customer service is top-​notch. And I have recommended them to almost anyone who wants to make an earth-​conscious decision. Not a single one of us regrets our decision to move to Taproot.

They deserve all five stars, 100%.
I switched to Taproot in March ’09 after hearing about their «100% green» web hosting. I had been with the same little host since 2000 (yeah, nine years!) and was «satisfied» with them, but for the same cost per month I could go with Taproot and get a host that I really believe in (one that shares my values, you know) and still get the same features, cpanel, and disk space I was used to.
Really, it was a no-​brainer.
So I switched and was immediately wowed by their customer service. My last host was «nothing but business» and a little impersonal, and while Taproot is certainly professional, there is a certain warmth to their support replies that I didn’t get with my other host. The Taproot staff checked and double-​checked to make sure that my transition to their hosting was smooth and seamless.
Since then, I have been very impressed by the loading times on my site, the lack of downtime, and ongoing customer service. I love using their services and DREAD using the big name host that my partner’s business uses. (I’m not going to name names, but it’s a huge site with very visible IndyCar/​Nascar sponsorship deals and sexist, sleazy commercials… yeah, that one.) Taproot is SO much easier to deal with than a big company like that one… AND no iffy commercials either.
Just to give you an example, I recently emailed Taproot about a WordPress problem (one that was likely my fault, ahem) and Chad & Stacy replied quickly. They were more than helpful and ready to work with me to figure out the issue– sometimes replying at all hours of the night. I’m confident from that recent exchange that they really do know their business — they’re 100% ready to solve my problems and support my site.
(I know this sounds like a geeky thing to get excited about… but I really am!)
I would recommend Taproot to anybody who wants a host that’s truly committed to being green, ethical, progressive and sustainable… or even if you ONLY care about getting a host that gives a darn about your support requests. They’re a breath of fresh air in the corporate world of web hosting.

I would use Taproot even if they weren’t green and local. The fact that they are is just two more reasons to host with them.
The have fair pricing for a truly green business, a robust hosting package, and fantastic customer service. Plus an easily navigable site without all the crap on sites like GoDaddy.
