Try visiting Stark’s Vacuum Museum. It is located as part of the associated store, right in the back. A small hallway contains vacuums which defined various vacuum eras. Some of the vacuums are labeled with their historical information, but more than are labeled out to be. A visit will likely be short and can be done summarily if nearby. It was a pleasure to visit the collection. A simple Google search shows that other vacuum museums exist in the world, but this is fine at it’s price of free for this one. The variety showed a kind of intriguing craftsmanship back when technology did a lot, not nearly as much functionally, but it wasn’t typically as uniform in design as we would see today. Twenty minutes should suffice, but do remember that the store is also a great institution in its own right. Stark’s Vacuum Museum reminds us that even the most benign objects have an unsung history.

I have a weird thing with Vacuums, in fact it is my favorite house chore and I find it relaxing coming home and hitting the chord. I came here to browse some used vacuums and look at what they consider to be a mini museum.
