I believe my schweinshaxen is unfinished and over roasted compare to posts from other people… but I’m willing to give it another try some time. Appertizers are amazing! We had sausage with fries, and the rabbit dish. Delicious! Beer is great! Light and each is uniquely flavorful. Will raise this review to 5-star once have scheweinshaxen fixed, very soon!

Walking distance from our place, and fans of German food/beer so we are regulars. Food is good, prices aren’t too high, but not low either. Limited seating and most is built for parties of 4, and while there are signs on the tables about the custom of sharing your table, we have waited on several occasions for 2 people to leave so it’s not a hard and fast rule. My biggest gripe is the menu. Prost is the sister restaurant and I wish they would offer more of their menu here. Was told that Prost has a full kitchen and Stammtisch does not. We would come more often if the menu was larger, but as it is we get burnt out on it.

Stopped by here again because we were in the mood for some German food. Again the atmosphere is nice and service was very good. We got the arugula salad… great. Had Some of the Firites with curry catsup. Frities were great the catsup… on the odd side. But I was really disappointed with the Hausgemachte Wurst(Homemade sausage). I spent part of my life growing up in Shebgoygan, Home of the Bratwurst. Lots of delicious German style meat products. I have also been all around Germany. The Germans DO know how to make great sausages. So I know a bit about what I am talking about. The sausages that we got were… odd. One was smoked but it tasted like someone used twice the liquid smoke in the recipe. Rather than a nice smoky tang… it was like the bottom of an ashtray taste. Ok… it was not that bad but it was not good. Another one had a background taste that was not great. Another was just ok, I think that was the brat. I was disappointed. I had reviewed earlier that their homemade mustard had an odd taste. And it did but we were probably tasting the odd flavor of the sausages as well. Probably will not go back or if I do I will get something other than the sausages.

Zicke zacke, zicke zacke, hoi hoi hoi! Cozy pub ambiance, a plethora of mouth-watering food options, and endless Bavarian suds… yes, please, and danke! Only had a few small plates, so I’m looking forward to digging into the menu more next time.

Paul and I had an early dinner at Stammtisch this afternoon as a last hurrah in Portland. I picked this place because Paul spent several enjoyable years in Germany, so I thought he would appreciate it. We arrived at 3:00pm, when they opened, and were surprised to see several others already there. The best: Paul’s choice of beer – Paulaner Oktoberfest. He was tickled pink to see it on the menu. I am not a beer drinker, but I took a sip and thought it was good, for beer. The good: the spätzle and the bretzel. The okay: sauerbraten(tender, but lacking in flavor), jägerschnitzel(no breading???), and the red cabbage served with both entrees(bland). The worst: the apple strudel – it was a crispy shell with a terrible filling. It was inedible, so we sent it back. Our server, who did a great job from beginning to end, explained that they used to get their desserts from a local German bakery that recently closed, so they are experimenting with doing them on their own. To be perfectly honest, they should hire a pastry chef or find a new bakery. A good dessert would have made up for some of the other issues, but ending dinner on a lousy note was a big disappointment. If I could give half stars I would rate Stammtisch as 3.5.

I’d give this place a 3.85 Food overall is good. They have dishes of all sizes, so if you just want a bite, try the currywurst over fries. The dishes tend to have a heavier, slightly earthy taste, which I suspect is do to it’s German focus. The space is dark and heavy with wood, candle lit yet casual. It’s a great space for an after date drink or a group place for you to share plates. Good for the occasional return, especially if you live in the area and are looking for something open late night.

Modern German restaurant in NE with a traditional menu and a delectable bier list. Once you walk in there’s a mixture of seating for each individuals preferences. There are communal tables, an open bar area and booths or high tops. Exposed brick, dark and dimly lit, with gas candles adorning the tables, an excellent place for a date or hanging out with friends. On a cold winter night, I opted for their special glüwein, which is hot spiced wine. I’ve had it before, and it was a perfect drink for a cold night. We had a couple of their beers, which all had a nice medley of flavors. The mellow notes of chocolate, coffee or spices are distinct yet subtle. My other half ordered the schnitzel and opted for spaetzle with mushroom gravy and the caper carrot salad as his side dishes. He smothered his meal with the mushroom gravy, and it was divine. As a mushroom and gravy fanatic, this gravy was perfect. The caper carrot salad was a great addition to the hearty meal. This meal is of size, and can be shared. I ordered the Maultaschen, a savory pasta dish filled with leeks and topped with mushrooms and brussel sprouts surrounded with a buttery white wine sauce. It’s in the medium section of the menu, and if you’re in the mood for a light dinner, this is a dish you need to try. For dessert, we ordered the apple strudel. It was topped with fresh whipped cream and hot caramel which was a nice light dessert to end our dinner date. We were checked on, multiple times, and the service was great.

Great place, great food, fantastic atmosphere and staff. I spent several years living in Europe and this place does it right! Taste of Europe in every sip and bite! Proper beer pouring technique, amazing beer selection and staff was well educated and personable. Highly recommend. Hope to see you there! Sincerely, Extremely enthusiastic about Stammtisch!

I’ve yet to find a better German food restaurant in town. Our waitress was phenomenal. The portions are very generous and the most of all the freshness and quality of meats are like eating with family. Next time I’m craving German food, I am there and only there. Sometimes the wait for a table is a little much but its because of the quality of the food.

5 in service and the quality of the foods as well as their home brewing beers. I definitely will come back to Stammtisch again.

We were slightly disappointed that some of the more interesting menu items(leek fondue pasta) aren’t offered on the late night menu, but at the end of the day, it’s pretty impressive that slabs of pork schnitzel the size of dinner plates are available past midnight. We ordered that, obviously. It came with a nice healthy side of carrot slaw to assuage any guilt of eating breaded/fried meat while most normal people are sleeping.(Side note: at this point it is 3am on the East Coast and my metabolism is probably at zero.) The pretzel was kind of small and oddly shaped — the area where it twists and forms the cross was so thin it withered into nothingness(and that’s my favorite piece, yo). It was also served with chicken schmaltz, which was weird. The waiter/bartender tried to explain what chicken schmaltz was, unaware that this was not my first animal-fat-rodeo. I still think it’s weird. But I ate most of it. Stammtisch was a great first stop during my trip to Portland. The eclectic(erm, German) food, great beer options, and friendly service made the trans-continental flight on United Airlines worth it.

Best place to go hangout on a rainy day and have a beer and good food. The French fries are awesome, they are garlic and Parmesan flavoured and crunchy. For the main course I ordered leek filled pasta with Brussels sprouts, it was the most amazing pasta dish. Do not order this if you are counting calories. My husband ordered the jaegar schnitzel and was quite pleased. You will enjoy the vibe, the drinks and the food.

I knew this was going to be good long before i went and I was right. Very authentic German gastropub in the middle of Portland. Service was perfect as was the food. The pretzel appetizer was perfect. It was crisp on the narrow portions and pillowy and doughy in the thick sections. The pretzel was also served with schmaltz which was a little odd, but the mustard and camembert brought the appetizer back together. For entrees I split both the burger and the weinerschnitzel with my lunch buddy. The burger was world class, the pretzel bun and emmental cheese were the crowning victory on the most perfectly cooked burger I have had in this state. There is one other burger place in this town that serves up such a perfect beast. But the burgers are so different I cannot compare them, I will just keep them separate in thought, while one is definitely blue collar, this one is not. Sides were perfect as well, the frites were crisp and very well done. I am blown away by this place, fantastic food, great service and a really cool atmosphere, 5 stars easy.

Last night we had an amazing meal here. We tried a few small plates and then each of us ordered something different. Every single plate was super delicious. My husband had the weinerschnitzel and I had the sauerbraten. Seriously perfect fork tender goodness! Stammtisch is a fancier version of Prost, with the menu selections and general ambiance. There is inside and outside seating and pretty darn good service. We’ll be back for sure!

Yum! Delicious food & beer. Great service too! What more can a girl ask for? I’ve been multiple times and always pleasantly greeted and served quickly. I enjoy Stammtisch and wish I could come by more often. We had the Jägerschnitzel, spaetzel, cabbage, seasonal veg(green beans). All were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Had the original rauchbier! Awesome again(had it maybe 4 months ago). They have it on tap occasionally. Yum! It’s like scotch and beer became one.

Back in April, very good friends took the hubs and I on a four-day long adventure in Portland, OR! The next few reviews will detail how we ate(and toured) our way around that magical city. I hope to take the rest of you with me now! «Hier sitzen die, die immer hier sitzen.» ~ Sit here, always. Stammtisch motto. The hubs and I were fortunate to have one of our lovely hosts be of German descent, and quite knowledgeable of authentic German cuisine. She raved about how delicious Stammtisch was and insisted we visit there during our stay. Everything she mentioned about this place exceeded our expectations. When you walk in, you will find many communal tables. In Germany, pubs are places to eat, drink, and be merry! They are places where you sit with anyone… friend or stranger… and strike up a conversation over a good beer and fantastic food. That concept is very much alive and well in Stammtisch. The food is excellent. Everything we ordered was delicious: Currywurst: fried pork & veal sausage with house curry ketchup. $ 6 Kartoffelpuffer: pan fried potato cakes with house apple sauce. $ 6 Maultaschen: pasta filled with leek fondue, topped with brussel sprouts and mushroom in white wine sauce. $ 10 Hausgemachte Wurst: bratwurst, weisswurst, or knackwurst with sauerkraut & house mustard. $ 8÷12÷16 depending on how many sausages you get. Sauerbraten: red wine & vinegar braised beef with spätzle & red cabbage $ 16 Schweinshaxen: Brined and slow roasted pork shoulder shank with spätzle and red cabbage. $ 22 My favorite by far was the Schweinshaxen. The pork was falling off the bone in tenderness, and the flavors were savory and rich. The red cabbage complemented the pork perfectly with a slight acidic kick, and the spätzle soaked up the flavors of both items on the plate. On your next visit to Portland, please put Stammtisch on your list of places to visit as well! You’ll leave with a full stomach, a smile on your face, and perhaps a few new friends.

Fantastic place to enjoy a Deutsche Bier with a welcoming staff and a festive setting. When you walk in the staff is attentive and willing to direct you to a proper bier. This is the sister location to Prost. Stammtisch offers something a little different, maybe more formal — -I’m not sure how to explain. They are both stellar. The food is a little more expansive here. Unique Bier — Check Served in the proper logoed glassware — Check Cocktails — Check Outside Seating — Check Good Food — Check(i’ve had more apps. than an entire entrée), but solid. I had a charcuterie type plate and a Pretzel here. Attractive Staff — Check One Crisp TV Monitor — Check Friendly customers, too. There is something for everyone here. I highly recommend the: Ayinger Jarhundert Lager and the Kostritzer Schwarzbier. Lively neighborhood that has a lot of food/beer options nearby, so it’s active.

After leaving the airport after 12:30AM, we were starving and wanted to find food near our air B&B. We busted out our handy-dandy Unilocal app and this place popped up. Points for why it’s so great: — Closes at 2:30am every night! — Spacious with a lot of room at the bar and tables for big groups — A great food menu that ranges from snacks(Bretzel, anyone) to a roast chicken! Pair it with a cold beer(your choice of .3L, .5L, and 1 L). I ended up getting a schnitzel sandwich served with the pretzel bun that was more than satisfying. If I weren’t so hungry, it could’ve been two meals! My fiancé ended up getting a Bretzel, served with their house mustard, schmaltz(chicken fat), and obatza(basically a creamy cheese dip). I highly recommend the latter for sharing :) I would highly recommend this place if you’re in the area! You won’t be disappointed!

«Hammitch? Stammich? What was that amazing restaurant called again?» It might as well have been called, Stammer. ;) My partner and I slayed the name while remembering everything else about Stammtish from the immediately friendly service and cozy atmosphere to the homemade bavarian pretzels, to our dinners, which were phenomenally good; I got the trout, and my partner got the pork and both were out of this world good!, to the wide selection of amazingly delicious beer, which I’m still dreaming about and saved on my phone notepad: Ayinger Brau Weisse, a wheat ale which was crisp and vanilla-y. AMAZING!!! Everything was memorable, but the name… but, hey, that’s what Unilocal is for! ;)
