Stahancyk, Kent & Hook

I used this firm (specifically Laurel Hook) to help me with a parenting time issue. They ended up «inappropriately billing» me to the tune of thousands of dollars. I’ve seen other clients of the firms billing statements and the same thing happened to them. In 2011 a judge ruled that they «inappropriately billed» me and they were ordered to pay me back. I filed a complaint with the Oregon State Bar. Almost four years later, the Bar found that Laurel Hook, a named partner in the firm had indeed «inappropriately billed» me. She was punished by the Bar, but the Bar basically let her off the hook (no pun intended) by NOT putting this on her record. How did Ms. Hook «inappropriately bill» me? She had a clerk write a two sentence letter to me and send it. She billed it to her (Hook) at her rate of (around) $ 300 per hour. This turned out to be a (about) $ 90 charge. Ms. Hook did this 18 times, and attorney Brad Miller did it 18 times, according to the Multnomah County Court. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I’ve recently discovered that the attorney who contacted me and represented himself as a ‘business dispute’ specialist, John Crawford, also happens to be married to Jody Stahancyk. So, now I’m dealing with this guy, who was brought in by Stahancyk, Kent & Hook to attempt to sue me for the fees that are in dispute. I recommend that you do your homework on this firm. Ask around town to find out what other attorneys’ opinions are with regards to how this firm conducts business.
Mr. Crawford is accusing me of conducting an ‘online campaign’ because I’ve posted my experiences with this firm. I often wonder how good some of these law firms are at getting reviews scrubbed from the web. I have found Unilocal to be pretty scrupulous about this sort of thing.

OMG — Stahancyk, Kent & Hook is unbelievably good. The absolute best divorce lawyers in Oregon. If you have anything complicated or need creative solutions, SKH is for you. My ex-​wife and I worked with two leading law firms in Oregon for almost three years and got nowhere. And, of course, all that cost a boatload of money. I called Jody, we made a plan and in less than three months we had it all sorted out. DONE !!! Divorce, is painful, but at least you need a highly effective attorney to find creative solutions to complicated and emotional problems. That is SKH. This wasn’t about one party winning over the other, but rather about effective lawyering and getting to a solution that worked for both parties.
