It reminds me of the clubs I couldn’t get in to yet when I was a kid growing up in Baltimore, and you knew that everybody inside was having a good time. My wife and I somehow found a sitter at the last minute on New Years Eve, our anniversary, and we drove up Alberta looking for a place to have a few drinks, hear some good music, and share the New Year with some good people. We found all of that and more at Solae’s!

BLACK IS BACK ON ALBERTA… okay, had to get that out. If you’ve been in this town since before 2000, then you know what I’m talking about.
But it ain’t just about having a black bar back on Alberta, it’s about that bar having ambience, selection, service and most importantly to me, good food.
This spot, formerly known as Joe’s, got a serious makeover and it looks GOOD. The owner is there most of the time, making sure things are steady. He’s very personable. The patio went from dirt to gravel, with wooden tables, a few tents and a ping pong table.
But what’s really going on there is the BBQ. He’s got a smoker out back with the right kind of wood burning in there. The BBQ chicken sandwich and wraps are killing it… it’s that sauce and how they don’t over cook the meat, leaving it way tender… mmm. Go with that and tater salad, washed down with an Angry Orchard and you’re golden.

We walked by heard the music & thought let’s try this place we were looking for good food and good drinks the min we walked in the bouncer at the door stops us for our ID he literally dropped every one of our IDs on the floor after checking them what a cocky prick We left without ordering a damn thing & will never go back Such a distrustful way to start a night out! I give them a HUGE THUMBS DOWN!!!

Came across this place on my nightly walk. I heard the music outside and had to go in to check it out. Ended up staying over an hour and didn’t realize how much time had gone by. This is seriously an awesome addition to Alberta. I don’t feel that way about most new businesses popping up everywhere. Live jazz and blues music, so cool!

The best new place on Alberta! This place has everything! Live blues and jazz in an intimate setting, a large outdoor patio with a fire pit and plenty of seating, a personal massaging recliner, great looking food (I haven’t tried it yet), and lots of attentive service. My new favorite place.

Seems like it will be a nice music venue. It’s cozy so can get packed quick. Wish they could do something with the layout. If you are in the overflow room you can’t see the band and there is only 1 unisex restroom (that I could see anyway).
Chicken wings are excellent, drinks were good. Will update after the next visit.
