Silver Cloud Inn Portland

This is the second time I have stayed here and no complaints. It’s clean, free wifi, good part of town, and fairly quiet

Surprisingly great location– ask the front desk for the restaurant map. You can walk down along 23^rd St, there is a great range of shops and restaurants. The room was very comfortable and I slept very well. Very clean and spacious. Breakfast was included but was not good. Ended up leaving for brunch every day instead of eating the food offered.

Stayed here several years ago and really liked it. So when we needed a place for one night before flying out of PDX, I chose this place again. Great location with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Joshua at the front desk was very helpful in clearing up some room confusion at check in. The room was great. Nice big king bed with a half wall that separated the living area that included a small couch and kitchenette. Easy on and off the freeway. Free parking which is getting g rare these days. Will definitely stay there again the next time we are in Portland.

Wow, the sound at this place is awful. My husband and I checked into room 219, and it was about 10 minutes before we realized that our room was actually shaking with each footstep of the person who was staying above us. We requested to change room, and instead of putting us on a higher floor, the guy at the front desk insisted that the noise was just a problem with the floorboards above our room. We move down the hall. Ok, the room doesn’t shake anymore we we can still clearly hear the footsteps of the people above us. We could also hear the conversations of our drunk neighbors to one side of us. If you must stay here, stay on the top floor and bring earplugs.

Not too shabby.. comfortable bed with awesome staff. Rooms clean minus the wet carpet below the air conditioner. Other then that it would have gotten 5stars.

So over the past 10 years I’ve stayed here roughly 5 – 6 times. I can say that I have never had a bad experience! For a hotel that has minimal amenities it’s one of my favorite places to stay!
Located right near the alphabet district in Northwest Portland, it is quite literally within walking distance to so many restaurants and shops. You can eat at a variety of restaurants and shop to your hearts content at a bevy of local boutiques and stores. One of my favorite coffee/​pastry shops La Honore Boulangerie is located just down the street from the Silver Cloud.
The beds are my favorite thing about the Silver Cloud. I don’t know how they are different from every other hotel, but my god they are divine. It’s amazing to me that even on a busy night, the rates remain pretty decent. I checked out the Nines, the Hilton and the Benson on a Friday, Saturday night and the rates are outrageous. But those same days, and the rates at the Silver Cloud are so affordable!
I booked my night at the Silver Cloud on a Saturday night on Priceline and made the mistake of not double checking the date I had booked for. I strolled into the hotel to check in and was promptly told that my reservation was made for the 26^th of April. Ha! Silly me. The front desk manager was so amazing and swiftly took to his computer and told me that he could book me for the last room that they had available for that night and on top of it all, keep my rate that Priceline had me down for. Now that is customer service! He could’ve easily sent me out the door and saved that room for a full rate customer, but he accommodated my stupid ass and saved me from scrambling to book a room elsewhere.
OMG did I mention the bed??? I had a king sized bed all to my 4’11″ frame to dominate and their shower is a bath tub shower! I soaked in my first hot bath in years! Most hotels seem to assume that no one bathes anymore, so they’re all fitted with the stand up showers which irks me to no end. I want a choice dammit! Lol. just kidding. first world problems.
So remember, when booking your next stay in Portland, the Silver Cloud is conveniently located in NW near the 405 freeway, and more importantly near all the good restaurants!

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. From looking on google maps, I thought this place was far from downtown Portland, but the drive at all wasn’t that bad. It’s conveniently located right by the entrance/​exit to the freeway, and there is an ample amount of parking that was available in the garage.
We had a helpful guy who checked us in and was gave us recommendations on where to eat in the area. Our room was #324, which if you take the elevator, is on the opposite side of the building. The room was the perfect size — we had a room with a king size bed, a desk and a chair with ottoman, a small fridge, microwave, and a flat screen TV.
The room and bathroom were pretty clean and I appreciated that. The room was well maintained and we had no problems at all with anything.
Best thing is that there is complementary breakfast with your stay, although their dinning area is small, so there may not be any space to sit and eat, so you may need to bring the food back to your room.
Even though the hotel was pretty full with a wedding and (I believe) some longshoreman staying there, I didn’t even notice because it was pretty quiet.
Overall, I wouldn’t mind staying here the next time i’m in Portland!

I stayed here recently for 2 nights during the week for some corporate meetings. I had little time to explore the area or enjoy many of the ameneties but what I did have was a spectaclar 2 night stay. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were plentiful and awesome. The room was absolutely spotless and the staff was pleasant, efficient and helpful. The breakfast was great and the selection for beverages and food was hot, varied and well prepared. I like decaf tea and bring my own brand so the stainless steel coffee maker in the room allowed me to have all the hot tea I wanted. This is definately where I’ll be staying again. It felt like a very high quality boutique hotel in the middle of a residential/​industrial area. I also felt completely safe in the parking structure and my room. Very nicely done.

Bed Bugs.
I have stayed at this hotel when traveling for work several times (8 – 12 nights in two years). It has been my little home away from home. Unfortunately, on my last stay, 1÷26÷15−1÷28÷15, I was attacked by bed bugs. I noticed something red on my arms, but didn’t think much of it until I arrived back home Wednesday evening, to swollen, hard, itchy red bumps. That night it dawned on me that this could be a result of bed bugs. When I realized this, sadly after bringing all of my luggage, including my travel pillow into the house, I immediately called the hotel. A young woman, «K» took my call and politely dismissed my concerns, asked if I had allergies (maybe an allergic reaction?), and said they have never had any issues. Maybe this was true, regardless I didn’t feel heard and demanding that someone inspect and call me back the following day. Supposedly this happened, and I received a voicemail from «J» (I believe front desk staff) and he stated that the Housekeeping Manager and another staff member «did a full inspection of my room (214) and there was no sign of any infestation and that he hoped I was feeling better». I called the hotel that evening to speak with the Front Desk Manager. Barb has always been very warm and great. I called the next day, Friday to speak with Barb to report the issue. She apologized for my experience with the previous experience and said she was going to inspect and get back to me. She did as she promised although her inspection didn’t find anything but a ladybug. She stated that Terminex would be coming out to inspect. I sent her pictures of my bed bug bites to her cell phone upon request.
On Saturday, I received a text stating that Terminex found bed bugs in room 214(lucky me) and my bites are consistent with bed bug bites. I understand Terminex treated the room I stayed in. I didn’t confirm if other rooms were treated as well. I asked for a copy of the report and she stated that «corporate will be handling this issue Monday». This is not a cheap hotel. At $ 179+fees/taxes, two nights was approximately $ 400. I expect better from a nice reputable hotel. I am disappointed that I will not be staying at this hotel again. They have been a really great landing spot from travels to Portland.
I do want to iterate, that the Office Manager was responsive and proactive and represented herself and her position well.
Today, Monday 2÷2÷15, this issue remains unresolved and bed bug bites continue to appear. Anyone that has dealt with bed bugs knows the implications of a bed bug infestation.

Great hotel on the edge of where the industrial area starts. Very quiet. There is free parking, free wifi, nice check in desk (with friendly front desk people) and a clean property. The cleaning crew is extremely nice to you when you walk through the halls. I was surprised to see that the skincare items they put in the bathroom is Aveda (great brand for a reasonable priced hotel). If you have a room on the back of the building you get a great view of the hills.

Silver Cloud was great! The rooms are very spacious with beautiful granite counter tops, good breakfast, comfortable sheets and pillows. Most hotels have really cheap pillows that hurt your neck and smell of dust, and that’s why I bring my own pillow when I travel. But at Silver Cloud I didn’t have to because the pillows and beds are very high quality.
The best part was when I checked out and left. I got a call from them within hours telling me that I left my sandals and some keys in the room. That gave me enough time to go back and get them.

This hotel was recommended to us by a close friend that stayed at this hotel when visiting her son in college. The hotel borders a residential/​industrial area, so it was very quiet. Yet it was within walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants. The hotel had multiple ports and outlets by the bed which was convenient for charging/​using laptops and smartphones. Free Wi-​Fi, Aveda products and breakfast were great pluses.

Silver Clouds are not my favorite hotels. They’re fine and I’ve never had a problem with them, but they lack the creature comforts of a Double Tree or a Marriott. This Silver Cloud does have a couple of things going for it: The location, you are in easy distance of a lot of restaurants, bars and bakeries as well as boutique shops AND Free Parking, which is getting kinda rare now days.

The room was super clean and very nice! Good central location to food, night life, and shopping. Quiet! The free breakfast in the morning was impressive too. Free covered parking and wi-​fi. A good spot to stay when you are in Portland.

We stayed at the Silver Cloud Inn in Bellvue, WA before making a quick trip to Portland. We liked the Silver Cloud Inn there so much that we canceled our reservation at a different, cheaper hotel and booked with Silver Cloud Inn Portland.
The layout of the Portland location isn’t as nice as Bellevue, but otherwise it’s fine. Soaps, shampoo, and conditioner are all nice and work (more than I can say than other places). They lather and don’t leave a film.
The staff are friendly and they even have a huge bowl of hard candy in the lobby, just like the Bellevue location. This place had an assortment of mints and butterscotch as opposed to the jolly ranchers of Bellevue, which was a nice change since I like spearmint mints and my partner likes peppermint mints.
The rooms are clean, and they even have the daily local paper waiting outside your door in the morning.
Breakfast is nice and included in the price. Two kinds of waffle batter: regular and blueberry. The Bellevue location had cinnamon as an alternative so the second flavor seems to vary by location. They also have scrambled eggs and sausages. We had to fight for the sausages here because they were hosting a bunch of German martial artists for some competition, but they tried to keep up and kept making new ones. lol
I’d recommend and would stay here or at any Silver Cloud Inn again. :)

Right off a main highway and easy to get to. Decent niehgborhood with good restaurants just a few blocks up. Nice sized room for good price. Wine hour was a nice surprise, as was the complimentary breakfast with belgian waffles. View of parking lot and no pool were the only downsides, but still a great place to stay.

We spent three nights at the Silver Cloud Inn in Portland last month and felt that we got good value for the price, a good location, and a comfortable hotel.
Free covered parking was a great plus for a city hotel. Free wifi and free breakfast made it even better.
The room was a reasonable size and had a comfortable king sized bed.
The location was convenient to 23^rd street where there are lots of interesting places. The hotel gives their guests free passes to the Portland Streetcar line, which is about a 10 block walk from the hotel. This makes it convenient to get downtown.
The room rate was $ 119/​night plus taxes totaling $ 134/​night.
We enjoyed our stay here and will likely stay here again, the next time we are in Portland.

LUCKY PLAN-​B
I’m picky about my lodging. I typically stay in a Hilton or a Hyatt. I just like a certain predictable standard.
The Hilton properties in the downtown area were all booked on the days I was visiting, so I took a gander on Unilocal to see what lodgings close to downtown were favorable rated. Silver Cloud Inn came up smelling like a rose.
I was very pleased with my experience. The staff was helpful from reservations through checkout. The accomodations are like the top tier Best Western. Nothing super fancy, but clean and updated. They had free wi-​fi, free parking and free breakfast.
The location is great… at the end of the Alphabet district. Lots of shopping and dining a short walk away. Convenient to bus transportation too.
I’d stay here again.

Wow. Great staff! Free parking! Free breakfast! Free Wi-​Fi! Close to tons of restaurants (23^rd area)! Clean and recently remodeled! Geez could it get better? Yes! They are reasonably priced and they even have a micro brew/​wine reception on Tuesday evenings. The rooms are so up to date with tile showers, granite counters, Aveda products, 42″ plasma tv’s, new paint, new wallpaper, and new carpeting everywhere, they can definitely rival some hotels downtown. It looks like a brand new hotel. Truly relaxing and quiet. It doesn’t look like much on the outside but the inside will blow your expectations out of the water.
If you are wanting to stay near «Trendy 3^rd», Nob Hill, great shopping, and over 50 restaurants… all within walking distance, then stay here. What a convenient, clean, comfortable, and affordable alternative to the downtown scene. I will definitely be recommending this place to visiting friends, family, as well as those here on business.

I would have given the Silver Cloud Inn on Vaughn St. in Portland 5 stars if it had a pool and hot tub! Also if the eating area for breakfast had been roomier, with less wobbly tables and quieter floors. (Every time someone pulled their chair in or out the sound was horrible… hurt our ears!) ALSO — it’s not IN downtown… it’s NEAR downtown, so the name is misleading.
Aside from those issues, though, this was a wonderful place to stay and we’ll stay there again. We stayed in room 419 — a double queen room which also had a sleeper sofa. You could sleep 6 in this room if you didn’t mind cozy’ing up with buddies. The mattresses on the queen beds were really firm… so if you’re more a soft and squishy mattress person, you won’t like these beds. If you like’em firm, though, they don’t get much firmer than these.
This was the weekend following Thanksgiving, and we paid $ 129./night for a double queen room. We booked it through orbitz online.
The room included the following:
— 42-​inch flat screen TV with cable
— 2 queen beds with firm mattresses, soft pillows, and very crisp linens (seemed brand new)
— free wi-​fi
— small fridge
— microwave
— coffee maker
— hair dryer
— ironing stuff (for those that iron stuff… we don’t!)
— sweet little closet with hangers for hanging things
— comfy towels, extra set of linens and extra pillow
— very clean bathroom with roomy shower but shallow tub
(shower head could be adjusted so that it could be as light or as powerful as you wanted it…)
— free breakfast (hot DIY waffles, bagels, muffins, toast, fruit, cereal, yogurt, coffee, juices, tea, etc.)
— downstairs is an office area where you may use the fax machine, printer, etc. or sit and relax by the fireplace
We had a really wonderful time there. My husband had stayed in one of the smaller single queen rooms while traveling for business and he said that the double queen was much nicer than the single room he stayed in. We also were up on the 4^th floor, facing what I think were the West Hills, so we had a pretty view. The whole place was very clean, and the maids were very nice.
The staff were very helpful and welcoming. We asked for paper plates and disposable utensils one night so that we could reheat some leftovers for dinner, and they were happy to give us whatever we needed.
Our teenage son managed to get lost — he went to get a soda from one of the vending machines, then forgot the room number on his way back — and they were really kind to him when he showed up at the front desk asking for our room number. They were also careful not to give out our information — they requested that he verify personal information before they gave him the room number (our street address, last name, make and model of our car, etc.) We appreciated how they handled the situation.
The location is not downtown — it’s just outside. Don’t stay here if you’re hoping to just walk from your hotel to all the fun stuff Downtown. You could probably bike it, easy, but it would be a bit of a walk — especially with children or in bad weather.
Overall I’d totally recommend this hotel so long as you don’t mind driving, taking the bus, or biking it to where you want to go. It’s a safe, clean, friendly, and comfy place to stay. And the free breakfast is yummy!
