So i have a race coming up in 2 weeks its a doosie. its the 24 hour at starvation ridge its our first time doing it and as you can imagine that takes some preperation and alot of parts. I was there two days ago and Gary and the mechanic there was nice enough to spend a lot of time with me going through everything that i needed for this race and get it all ordered so that i can make my preparations early. The guy William B wrote a review for this place that i dont think was fair on 10/​20/​2015. I’m sorry about your experience but i was that customer that was in front of you and i am not a employee. It wasn’t a camping trip that we were talking about it is a race and i’m sorry if i sounded excited about it to be interpreted as BS. Also they have the best prices because they will price match the same items online and you don’t have to pay for shipping and it is there the next day. These guys are the best and will do whatever they can to help you. you were in line and did not want to wait im sorry for your experience but mine was great and i will order all my stuff through them because i know im getting the best deal and the best service.

Went in to look at sport bikes and pick up an OHV permit for my truck. I managed neither, for different reasons. First, the three employees behind the counter were too busy playing grab-​ass and chatting about an upcoming camping trip or something to acknowledge the fact that a customer had been standing quietly for 5 minutes waiting for them to wrap up chatting.
Then I noticed the passive aggressive CASH ONLY sign for permits, unless you are buying something else, of course. On top of that, they require you to furnish documentation not required by the state, according to the sign.
I believe this is a slimy attempt to draw in traffic, but with the intent to discourage people wasting their time with silly requests like a permit for which they are supposed to be an authorized point of sale.
So instead of buying a bike from them, I’ll go elsewhere. Really that’s no great loss since the shop is tiny and cramped and had very little in the way of inventory. What they did have seemed over priced.
BTW, I ended up going to Land Rover Portland to get the permit and they were the nicest ever. To the owner of Sargent’s: I hope saving the $.50 transaction fee is worth it. You will probably blow this off, but your employees cost you a potential sale today, and I don’t mean of a permit.

I called them on the phone today and the gentleman was super helpful, really takes his time to help out the customer even if there is no money in it for him. I think he genuinely likes helping people. This will be my first choice for my dirt bike needs.

I recently took my RMZ450 in to have the radiators, head pipe, hoses, break and clutch levers replaced. The customer service was outstanding! they were able to get all the parts I needed in a very short period of time. And had my bike up and running in no time. I would recommend this shop to all my friends and family who ride motorcycles or scooters.

Friendly service, down-​to-​earth, family-​owned business. Needed a chain replacement and they were able to work me into their schedule the afternoon I stopped by. They also found a missing screw on my exhaust pipe and replaced it for free. Chain works great, would recommend their services to anyone in the area!

Terrible customer service, the shop NEVER delivers anywhere near the time they quote you, they’ll sell you expensive, marked-​up OEM parts that you DON’T need and then grossly overcharge you on labor, diagnostic fees and even a storage fee if you can’t pick the bike up as soon as they would like you to once they’ve taken their time repairing it. Had numerous issues with this shop all revolving around a very simple repair, ended up costing me almost $ 1300 when it should have only cost $ 200. They don’t stand behind any of their products (batteries, etc.), if you have an issue with something they’ve sold you regardless if it’s just been a matter of days, they’ll tell you to contact the manufacturer directly and deal with it that way because «they would have to do the exact same thing». What!!! Save yourself some trouble, money, and headache and steer very clear of this shop. Go to an honest and reputable shop like TOP DOG RACING in Damascus, they’ll shoot you straight and won’t overcharge, not to mention they actually stock OEM parts so you don’t have to wait for these guys to order parts and/​or order the wrong parts (happens frequently apparently), and will have you up and running again in no time. Not sure how this place even stays in business, but buyer beware, you’ve been warned!!!

Had to order a clutch slave cylinder for my bike. Once again they did me right. 7 days as stated from day of order to day of pick up of the part.

Awesome! A lady rider with a sensitive head. I have been looking for a helmet on internet and reviewed extensively about them. I consider myself pretty savvy about motorcycle helmets. After visiting other motorsport shops in the area, I visited these guys. The staff member that helped me, I will call the KId, politely and actively listened to my long drawn out story about my need for a lightweight helmet. He said, he understood my problem and suggested the LS2, a brand I hadn’t heard of. So, I still tried on well known brands too and after several hours of wearing helmets, it was the LS2. The kid was spot on. I love my helmet. Its nice looking, light, quiet and affordable, certainly beat the $ 500 Shoei. Sargents has the largest variety of helmets in Portland area. I know. I looked. Talked with both Gary Jr. and Sr. about motorcycles, the needs of a lady rider. They spoke intelligently with me, no dumbing down. Dealing with these guys is like talking to Dad and big brother about motorcycles, ATVs. They got your back, they are gonna tell you their honest opinion about what would work best for you, whether or not they make a sale. These guys are busy because they give excellent customer service. They are worth my drive and wait to talk with them. Can’t wait to see the new Hyosungs coming in October.

I took my scooter in here to get it checked out. It was my main source of transportation and I was having issues with it. I called and they said they could look at it the next day. So I had it towed to them. I ended up calling repeatedly and getting different stories about my bike over a three week period. When I finally talked to the owner 3 weeks later he said they hadn’t had a chance to look at it — but I had talked to service guys during those three weeks and they said that they were looking at it. They were having trouble starting it so I told them how to do it remotely with my fob — They called to tell me my battery was bad and they needed to drop another one in — etc… So I know they looked at it. An OWNER LYING when his name is on the door is repulsive.
Finally I had my dad call and the owner told him my bike was a piece of crap and it shouldn’t be my main source of transportation because it was a Chinese bike. He then told my dad for $ 2,000 I could buy another Chinese bike from them (the ones he called a piece of CRAP) and they would service it because we bought it from them, but they wouldn’t touch mine because it would cost more to fix than it was worth. SO they charged me $ 80 for doing nothing — my dead battery was still in the bike.
My father and I ended up taking the bike up to a friends who had a garage in Washington and it took four hours and $ 50 to get it back into great shape. LYING OWNER — CHARGING FOR NOTHING — Doesn’t scream 4 stars to me!
We finally deducted that it was their busy season, and people with much more expensive bikes were obviously more important to them. Those are the people that must have given this garage such good reviews!!!
AND — they charged me a $ 200 deposit when it was taken in so that I was at their mercy. I have NEVER heard of a garage taking a deposit.

We went in to buy helmets yesterday, and we received excellent, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable service. I felt like I was being given honest opinions, they weren’t just out to make the most money they could off of us. Thanks guys! We look forward to working with you in the future!

Since getting a SYM scooter a year and a half ago, I’ve been taking it to Sargent’s for all scheduled maintenance. I’ve received fantastic service every time and today was no exception. I only needed an oil change and idle adjustment today so they were able to do it while I waited, which was about 45 minutes. Before I left, the guy helping me showed me how to check the oil level and cleanliness myself, to give me a better idea of when it needs to be changed. He also let me know that my next scheduled service would be a major one, including a transmission inspection, and gave me an estimate of what that would cost. I’ve dealt with plenty of mechanics in the past who only tell you that you’re due for major service when it’s time; I really appreciate Sargent’s letting me know in advance so I can plan accordingly.
Sargent’s is far from being the hippest scooter shop in town, and at least for me, isn’t the most conveniently located, but they seem to be experts at what they do, are friendly and unpretentious, and are very reasonably priced.

Fair. No padding on the labor bill. Took a long dam time to get the correct part in (they ordered the wrong one) then called the wrong number to try and get me. Most work done fast. I would tell most anyone to give these guys a shot. As people they are very very nice. as a business they are good but could do a little better.

Love these guys. They save me time and money. I’ve been to other places around Portland, everyone else seems like their in a hurry and are just out trying to sweet talk ya into making a buck. Not Sargent’s. These guys are kind, patient, efficient, knowledgeable, and will talk to you honestly about what is going wrong or right with the scooter you have. I was impressed on multiple occasions by their punctuality in getting my scooter repaired. And when it was time for me to get a new one, they took my old junker in, for more money than it was worth, and gave me $ 1,000 off on a brand new one. That sure beats trying to sell it on craigslist. I won’t go anywhere else. Ladies (and guys), choose Sargent’s and you won’t be disappointed.

Had a valve stem on a scooter tire repaired. Cost $ 270 dollars!!! I wanted to have my turn signal switch replaced, so I supplied the part. They tried to replace it with the part that I supplied, then called me and said I had the wrong part. I know I didn’t because I got it off the same exact brand, model and year of scooter.
So they called me and told me I had the wrong part, which I thought was odd. So, I told them to just fix the valve stem, and forget about the turn signal switch.
So, after I got the scooter home, I went to ride it after dark, only to discover the head lights no longer worked as well as the alarm and automatic start from my key fob. They both worked fine when I brought them in, 100% sure about that!
I tried to call them, left messages, no one returned my call. When I finally contacted them, they said the headlights and alarm/​auto-​start were already not working before they got it. Sounds extremely fishy to me.
Furthermore, everyone who worked there made me feel very uncomfortable. It seemed as if they have their loyal customers and outsiders are certainly not welcome into their little frat.
Shady, shady business.
