I was so excited to get my wedding dress from Sarah Seven. My mom and I went in, had a wonderful experience, I chose my dress, they got my measurements and we were all ready to go.
I asked if it was possible for them to make the dress in blush. If it wasn’t possible, I said I’d just go with the ivory. They said they’d never done that before and would check and get back to me right away to move forward. After a few weeks of no contact, I decided to call/​email. I got a response maybe a month later telling me they were still checking on whether or not the dress could be in blush and «thank you for my patience.» After a few more vague emails from them (months apart) I decided to get my dress from another place.
What really irks me is that every time I go past the shop, I see the dress I asked for. And it’s in blush. I also flipped through a magazine, and there was the dress. In blush. I just wish I could have gotten a response like «Sorry, we are too busy to make you a dress» so I wouldn’t have waited around. Clearly they weren’t too busy to take my idea and run with it and submit it to magazines… ;)

Sorry for the CAPS, but I wanted to stress that point. I spent a year and a half planning my wedding and quite literally, I was forced to buy a size 14 (I’m a 7) dress from ASOS and rushed to have it altered just days before my wedding because a dress I purchased from Sarah Seven NINE MONTHS BEFORE MY WEDDING never showed up. Poof! Literally, it didn’t show up. After ignored emails, Facebook posts and messages, I finally had one of the wonderful girls at Lovely NYC call her personal cell phone to inquire about the dress. She said that she would «put it in the mail the first thing in the morning». That was two months before my wedding and as you can imagine I was already extremely nervous about that timeline. Again, never came.
I have never, in my life, encountered such an irresponsible, unprofessional business owner… with such disregard for such an important event in someone’s life. It’s selfish and heartless.
Do not buy from Sarah Seven if you want any level of sanity during wedding planning.

I’m actually shocked by the abismal customer service that Sarah 7 provides. The dress I purchased is overdue and I’ve called 6 times (left 2 voicemails) and sent 3 emails over the past week, but I have not heard back. While her frocks are quite beautiful, I do not recommend purchasing through Sarah 7 directly as they do not respond to their customers.

OKAY — great designs, decent prices & bridal salons seem to love her!
So, I called my Lovely Bride in Los Angeles to see if they had samples of sarah 7 belts. They don’t actually carry her accessories, but they offered to call sarah and see if she could send a sample over. The manager at Lovely told me she made numerous calls — none returned.
I got on sarah 7’s facebook and flat out wrote on her wall asking what the best way to contact her was, she said email. I must have emailed her ten times and no response!
It’s a little weird that she would not be eager to touch base with potential customers. I really love one of her belts to go with my wedding gown, but based solely on principal, I would not promote her designs even if she paid me to.

Unfortunately I didn’t see the reviews here before I bought a dress online. I have the exact same sad story of being told it was in stock and would be shipped in 10 days by Sarah herself, who was super good at replying to emails while i was trying to work out if I wanted that dress.
Unfortunately after i booked it over a month ago, I haven’t been able to get a word out of her but my CC has been charged $ 1600. Really disappointing.
I don’t have the time to find out if she can or can’t get the dress ready in time, so I’m just going to have my bank reverse the charge.

This review is actually for the Sarah 7 showroom in San Francisco. I went online and booked an appointment for 4:00. The day before the appointment I received a call asking if I could move it up to 2:00 and I agreed. Then I received another call asking if I could move it up to 1:00. As I had another appointment at 12:00, I told her that wouldn’t be possible and she acted really inconvenienced. I told her we’d be there as soon as possible. It turns out that I was the only appointment of the day and she just wanted to move it up so that she could close shop early — really terrible customer service.
Flash forward to the day of the appointment. When we arrived, the door was locked so we had to bang on the window to get the consultant’s attention. She was dressed in Uggs and a t-​shirt (not very professional) and didn’t greet us or even introduce herself when she let us in. She told me to try on whichever dresses I wanted, so I essentially just led the appointment myself. The entire appointment lasted around 15 minutes as the selection is extremely limited. I assumed that when you only have 2 locations, each location would carry all of the line’s dresses. Wrong.
I was unpleasantly surprised by the quality of the dresses. It was hard to try them on because the sample short dresses were around a size 2 and the sample long dresses were a size 12. The sizing didn’t make any sense. Why not just carry every dress in an 8 like other bridal salons? The dresses look much more beautiful and romantic online and the quality is really poor in person.
In short, I’d skip the appointment at Sarah 7 and go to J. Crew if you’re looking for a high quality yet simple dress. Both the selection and personnel at J. Crew are much nicer.

I unfortunately have a similar story to many others who wrote reviews, ones that I wish I had read before ordering from Sarah Seven!!! DO NOT ORDER A DRESS ONLINE FROM SARAH SEVEN!!!
Here’s my story: I paid her $ 600 through Paypal in February of 2012 for a dress for my wedding celebration on June 23, 2012. She said on the website that she needed four, let me repeat myself, FOUR months! to make a dress, which is ridiculous to say the least. In February, she said that my dress would arrive on June 10^th. She then was unresponsive to my many emails inquiring about the status of my dress following my purchase.
After June 10^th, when there was still no dress or email from her, I filed a Paypal dispute stating that my dress had still not arrived. She almost immediately responded stating that she was «pretty sure it just shipped this week» and that she’d «grab me the tracking number», yet did not follow up with this information when I requested it the same day. Sadly, my wedding day came and went with NO DRESS from Sarah Seven. Thanks to these reviews, I went shopping about two weeks before our celebration so that I had a back up dress. It was not completely what I wanted, but it fit and at least I had something to wear :(
Sarah makes dresses for very special occasions; to leave a person stranded without a dress for such an occasion and without notifying them that she will not be meeting the deadline is WRONG. I was not only stressed by the uncertainty of whether or not my dress would arrive on time, but was also left with the daunting task of finding a dress within a short time frame, when many of these dresses require pre-​ordering and/​or tailoring. Obviously, my dress did not ship when she said it had and her written statements were not true. I find this to be completely irresponsible and unprofessional to say the least.
I have filed a complaint through the Better Business Bureau (although I think that she lost accreditation a few years ago for one of her many addresses and company names that she has) and through my credit card. I also am pursuing legal action. It seems that Sarah has done a very good job at covering up her negligent and unethical business practices. Please do NOT give her any more business. She took my money months ago and did not keep up her end of the agreement. She does not know how to run a business, at best, and a THIEF, at worst. PLEASE DO NOT BUY A DRESS FROM SARAH SEVEN!!!
P. S. She just wrote me back stating that in her system, my dress had shipped and that she was so sorry and would like to refund me my money. Keeping my fingers crossed that this will go through!
P.P.S I have finally been refunded my money (7÷9÷12). I think my BBB complaint helped. Sarah said that she is only using in stock items now, no more custom made orders. Hopefully this helps! I am still skeptical.

I ordered the Elope dress through Soliloquy Bridal Couture in Herndon, Virgina for my August wedding. I paid an extra $ 100 for the dress to be «rushed», and it arrived two days before Sarah said it would. The dress is absolutely gorgeous, perfectly constructed, and everything I wanted it to be. It fit like a glove, and I am so thrilled to be wearing Sarah’s dress on my wedding day.
After ordering my dress, I was super nervous based on all the other reviews. However, I had a wonderful experience, and everything was on time. If any potential brides are nervous, I would recommend ordering through a boutique, because it is that person’s job to ensure that your dress arrives when it is supposed to.
If you love the look of Sarah 7, it will be hard to be happy with any other designer, she is just so unique. I wanted a short dress for my brunch wedding and it was extremely difficult to find dresses I liked, but Sarah had a ton of options. I would highly recommend ordering from her, but keep in mind that all short dresses take at least 4 months to make, because they are all custom to your body, and save yourself some stress by going through a bridal boutique.

Sarah is the sweetest girl I have ever meet. I am sorry some other people had some issues, but my experience was just delightful!
First off, I love in NYC– I was last minute shopping on a Wednesday and came across Sarah Seven and was completely enamored. I needed the dress by Friday! I contacted her right away to see it she had anything in stock that I liked in my size and asked if she could over night it. She replied right away saying that she had a dress in stock in a size 4 when I am a size 2. She said-​send me your measurements and I will alter it for you and I will have it to you by Friday morning. Sure enough Friday morning arrives and my beautiful dress is on my front stoop.
You get what you pay for! Her dresses are averaged $ 400-​$ 1500 and WELL WORTH IT! I am wearing this dress loud and proud to my dad’s wedding and I am so happy with it!
Thank you Sarah for being such a great help and I wish her all the best in future endeavors.

Do not buy a wedding dress online from her! I didn’t read reviews before I bought the dress and now regret it!!!
I had a long drawn out 5 month saga, and never even received the dress. Yup, that’s right, no dress.
I ordered the dress directly from from Sarah on her website and payed for it, approximately $ 500 using PayPal.
It was to arrive at the end of March. When it hadn’t arrived, I waited a couple of week before I emailed her. I didn’t hear back for 3 weeks, even though I emailed her every other day!
FINALLY she wrote back to me and told me that she had unexpectedly gone into surgery and therefore was unable to contact me. She said she would find my order and «check up on it». After a week I hadn’t heard back, and although my fiancé told me to cancel my order, I was blind by my love for the dress (and not wanting to start again looking for a dress) so I persisted. She FINALLY contacted me back and told me it was in the mail. I waited, 2 weeks. I emailed her every single day for tracking number, or some kind of confirmation that it had actually been sent. She straight up LIED that it had been sent. What? What kind of person does that? If you didn’t make the dress either tell me, or scramble to make it. So weird!
By May I gave up… I contacted PayPal, they told me to contact Bank of America to dispute the charges. I did that, and they are now going after her for the money.
DO NOT BUY A DRESS FROM HER. I went to other wedding boutiques in NYC and they all agree that she has a reputation for the WORST COSTUMER SERVICE ever. I now have a gorgeous dress from Claire la Faye. Sarah Seven, you’re ridiculous.

I am so so sorry to write this poor review… I love these designs! When I first saw these dresses I was absolutely in love and thought that a Sarah Seven dress was exactly what I wanted for my maid of honor for my May 2012 wedding.
I ordered a dress from the «in stock– will ship within 10 days» at the online store on February 1^st, 2012. I did not receive a confirmation email nor a shipment notification, but they did bill me $ 550.00 from my credit card right away. From then until today, April 24^th, I have emailed them 4 – 5 times (only once getting a «Thanks for checking in, I will check on this when I get in the shop in the morning» only to not hear from them again), and called several times as well. I can only assume others are having a similar problem because the voice mailbox is always full.
I have still not heard from them and just want a refund, but since I am unable to get a hold of them I had to file a dispute with my credit card company.
Good thing I went with an ivy and aster instead for my wedding gown though (great customer service and my dress was finished and available 2 months before they said it would be…) If you are looking for a vibe similar to Sarah Seven I would recommend them! Plus, reading what others are saying about the quality of sarah sevens, my dress looks lovely and very well made.
I still love the dresses, I just think that Sarah Seven got too big too fast maybe and they are just not equipped to deal with such a big project compared to the inital etsy store. I don’t think this is an excuse for poor customer service though. I am so disappointed… wish it had worked out!

Let me start out with a quick re-​cap of the Pros and Cons:
Pros:
Great concepts, great website, great marketing
Cons:
Very poor execution
Seams were not sewn correctly
Bias cuts were wrongly cut
Pleating were done very poorly
Customer service = none existent
Delivery was untimely
High price for a really poorly made dress.
Let me tell you about my story. I rarely write reviews for anyone but this may benefit both Sarah and any brides to be thinking of buying from her.
I saw Sarah Seven’s Etsy page years ago (this is no longer in existence due to poor reviews as well), thanks to Daily Candy. I am in the fashion industry, I went to school for fashion so when I saw Sarah Seven’s Etsy page, I fell in love… hard. Five years later, I’m engaged and ready to purchase from Sarah.
I got in touch with Sarah through her website. She promptly replied and as she was having a sample sale, she sold me a dress that was originally $ 1600 for $ 850. I paid in full by Aug 22. The transaction went through Aug. 23. She promised I would receive my dress in three weeks as there was nothing much to tailor in the dress except for the hem as I’m shorter than what the dress was modeled for. Somehow the transaction wasn’t showing in my account so I needed to call her back. As I started typing Sarah Seven in google, «Sarah Seven reviews» popped up, and I realized I never even checked what her past customers thought of her. Next thing you know its a ton of negative reviews and I was apprehensive of what to expect but I gave her the benefit of the doubt (which I will pay for later!)
After the transaction was complete, it became very difficult to get a hold of Sarah. She has no phone number in her website. She would e-​mail and make excuses. The three weeks passed, and still no dress to be delivered. I got excuses from, I was moving and couldn’t get to the studio to there’s a stain in the dress and it takes a long time for it to dry, etc etc. The dress finally arrives two weeks after the three weeks promised. You would think that the dress would be in great condition.
Here’s where everything turned for the worst. I didn’t have time to try on my dress for a week but brought it to a tailor as I knew it needed to be shortened. I tried the dress on and here’s a list of everything that was wrong with the dress… pictures to follow:
— Zipper sewed on once, so if I got caught on something the zipper would rip right off the dress
— the pleats were all uneven… its great to be «organic» but to be totally all over the place is just terrible
— edges of the dress were completely raw, one part was ripped!!! Left completely undone
— stain on the back
— the «straps» on the back part were both different sizes — one was measured 2.5 inches, the other side was 4 inches
— the place where the cup size would be placed was completely sewn in the wrong area, it was cutting the middle of my breast and it made my boobs look like they were cut in half
— there were no clean seams anywhere on the dress
— the whole dress was so poorly hand sewn that if I got caught on something the whole dress would have been destroyed
If it weren’t for my tailor I would not have a dress done. My tailor was beyond furious and she did not want me to pay for the tailoring costs. She wanted Sarah to pay for the tailoring costs. I had to threaten her with the Better Business Bureau as well as getting both my lawyer and my tailor’s lawyer involved if she didn’t agree to pay. The dress was a nightmare for both my tailor and I but I only had a month and a half left before my wedding. I didn’t have time to buy another dress and I didn’t trust Sarah to give me back my $ 850 in time for me to purchase another dress so my tailor went ahead and fixed it. My tailor worked on this dress for a MONTH! That’s how terrible this dress was. Normal brides go for 2 – 3 fittings, I had to go in for 6 fittings as there was always something else that was wrong with the dress that we would find later on.
After my tailor finished re-​making the whole dress it costed $ 500! I had asked Sarah to pay for this invoice as there was no way I was paying for that mess. I had to send her detailed documentation of what she did wrong with that dress… and she finally did pay for it.
Thank goodness for my amazing tailor, I will not give Sarah credit on that dress at all. It was a terribly made dress. Poor execution, Poor service.
My advice to Sarah is, you can be successful if you found yourself an amazing seamstress, and a group of people as your customer service reps. You need to learn to update your brides as to when they truly will receive their dresses. You’re only as good as your product. Celebrities can endorse you but if your product is terrible; you will lose your business. I truly think you can make your business work as your creative vision shines through but you need to learn to sell product that is really worth $ 850.

It just pains me to see these reviews. I cannot speak more highly of Sarah Seven. Let me tell you why.
I was about 3 months away from my wedding when my Augusta Jones wedding dress arrived from the Chicago boutique I ordered it from. I was assured by the ladies at the store that I could remove the crinoline that gave it that poofy look once it came in. So when my seamstress removed it as planned, we were stunned when the dress was not only see-​through, but it did not have that soft, ethereal look that I was assured it would have.
Needless to say, the boutique washed their hands of helping me since everything was already signed, sealed, and delivered. Brides, take note: Do not listen to sales reps in bridal salons about altering dresses. They do not know the product like the designers do.
We were now about less than 2 months away from the wedding and I was trying to stay optimistic but felt helpless, not having a dress. I told my fiancé about what had happened. That was when he reassured me to e-​mail Sarah Seven. Months prior when I was looking for dresses, I printed images of dresses I liked and one of them was the «Practically Perfect» dress from Sarah Seven. Her boutique is located in Oregon, and it just seemed too risky to buy a dress online. So on a whim, I e-​mailed her and explained my situation. Within an hour, she had replied. She reassured me that things like this happen a lot with brides and said that she would send me the dress and if things ended up working out with the first dress and I didn’t wear hers, I could return it for a full refund.
Immediately, I sent her my measurements. The dress fit like a glove when it arrived. She even sent 2 belts for me to try with it. She also gave me tips on how to style everything to create that ethereal look I was after for my wedding day.
Sarah’s dresses are absolutely exquisite and she really is an incredible designer. If you are after that princess, perfection type of a look, you will not be happy with her designs. She creates looks for the bride who is simple and understated, and okay with a little bit of an unfinished look. I can tell by reading these reviews that these customers unfortunately did not understand that.

I ordered a dress from Sarah roughly 2 years ago via Etsy. It was the most expensive dress I had every purchased but I had been eyeing it for ages and finally willed up the courage to take the plunge.
I didn’t mind the delay in the dress. It wasn’t for a wedding or any special event so I was pretty patient with all of the communication and back and forth.
The downside was that the dress was really poorly made. It had a sweetheart neckline which was not symmetrical — sloping strangely on one side. The stitching on the pleats was visible and so was the top seam of the white bustier (the dress itself was charcoal gray).
The fit was so-​so but that issue was to be expected having bought the dress online and just sending your measurements in.
I emailed Sarah with my disappointment and she very nicely offered to try to fix the problems. My follow up asking about next steps was never answered and I gave up after that. I have a $ 400 unworn dress collecting dust in my closet — a reminder of the risk of buying online.
I think Sarah is very talented as a designer and has the best intentions. However, she needs a seamstress to better see her visions through to execution and some admin help to provide better service to her customers.
To those saying these poor reviews are from competitors, you’re welcome to come on down and see the dusty dress in my closet. I can guarantee you I’m a past customer.

If you like organic and earthy quality wedding dresses, this is the store for you. Unfortunately, due to the fact that my dress had a raw edge, fabric kept falling out.
The dress is pretty (very pretty for pics), but upon closer inspection, the quality isn’t so great! I would buy it mainly for pictures… it’s not something that’s really substantial over time…

I highly caution any bride from dealing with this girl. I say girl because Sarah runs her business akin to a 5 year old. She is impossible to get a hold of for even the simplest of requests. I spent two months trying to get very simple information about having a short wedding dress made, to no avail. She has no phone number and emailing her is useless. She is constantly claiming that your email must’ve «gone into her spam file» or she just never received it at all.
After all this, I was still determined to have a Sarah Seven dress because the samples I had tried on were so beautiful. However, I spoke with many (15 – 20) brides who had had dresses custom made by Sarah, and the dress she made for them were flat out shoddy. Poor fit, poorer quality. Several of them said the dresses with unwearable, and ALL of them said the dresses came late. She makes her samples beautifully, but the dresses she makes for actual brides are borderline unwearable.
Unless you can buy a sample, DO NOT use this designer. If you like her designs, I recommend Ivy and Aster, JCrew, Nicole Miller, or just looking on Etsy for custom dresses.

my sister had been looking for a simple and unique wedding dress for her wedding so we planned a portland trip to check out 2 designers: ivy & aster and sarah seven.
sarah seven’s business hours aren’t really the most convenient since they were closed on tuesday but open wed @ 11. we were trying to get back to seattle by wed afternoon but was pushed back since we specifically made the trip to check out some sarah seven goods.
i got to see her creations up close and personal and her samples were very well made. i think it’s the way that the pleats and curves are all hand-​sewn that make each dress unique. my sister found a few dresses that she is keeping in mind, however, the one long gown that suited her perfectly (aptly named «practically perfect»!) was priced at over $ 2K. the short dresses are priced at around $ 600 – 800. more affordable but not what we were looking for.
at the store, the salesperson was very nice and personable. we even got to meet sarah, the designer, who was very sweet as well. she did mention that this store only opened less than a year ago and that she’s only been doing dresses for a few years. she also looked very young…
all in all, i think it was a good experience to stop by the store. if you’re looking for something unique and hand-​made versus the typical david’s bridal dresses mass produced in a factory, i recommend at least checking her out.

I can’t write a review for Sarah Seven’s craftsmanship or her dresses but I can certainly warn others of her CUSTOMER SERVICE.
In february, I emailed twice (one towards the beginning of the month, and again at the end of the month) in regards to a custom order I was hoping she could help me with for my June wedding. I never heard from her.
So I used her contact box on her website sometime in March requesting the same thing. Again, no response.
Frustrated, I sent her another email on the first of this month (April), not to request anything, but to scold her for her lack of professionalism. 45 minutes later that same day I get a regretful and apologetic reply. Since I had her attention finally, I decided to make one last request, ignoring my better judgement. She informed me that time was short (thats why I tried to contact her in February) but that she would think about it.
10 days later, I was still waiting to hear back. Sent her an email asking if she had had a chance to decide, since time is of the essence. 4 days after that, still nothing.
So I am done. It seems like she makes beautiful dresses, but I guess I’ll never know and quite frankly, don’t care to know.

Flakey owner, shoddy dress quality, high prices. You’re much better off elsewhere.
Besides, what respectable business owner refuses to communicate by phone?

Thank heavens there is someone else who can vouch for how awful this seller is. I’m writing this after stringing me along for a year and a half. Here’s my experience:
I ordered a dress 6 months before my prom and received it days before my big day. That wouldn’t be a problem had the dress actually been as depicted but it wasn’t. The craftsmanship was absolutely atrocious. I can’t even describe how awful it was but it looked like it was hastily put together by an amateur. The bustier was lopsided and the zipper was crooked. I can’t remember exactly what else was wrong with it but I was so disappointed. The pictures she has are gorgeous but the dress did not remotely resemble what was shown.
I would take pictures of the dress but here’s the second part. After posting a scathing review on Etsy (she now operates an independent website) she offered the Kiss and Make Up option. She said that if I rescinded my negative review and returned the dress, she would give me a full refund. So I did.
SURPRISE! I did not get a refund but was promised for months she would get to it. There were numerous excuses, she forgot, the payment didn’t go through, she’s been swamped, etc. Now she does not reply to any of my emails and I am out $ 400 and have no dress.
