Portland, OR
One of the best places to experience beauty, wonderful smells and inner peace. The different kinds, smells and colors are an artwork in each rose itself. I simply cannot take a bad picture here: it’s impossible.
The view of Portland is magnificent from the top stairs as well. And the store has a great selection of touristy (but different) stuff to take home, and the prices vary. The location of the Rose Garden in the middle of Washington Park gives the feeling of being in Italy, or France, from the drive up to the huge, ancient pines right before you enter.
Today we are blessed with a harpist, who adds a flavor of medieval enjoyment and music as an extra layer.
Parking is ample but difficult on the weekends – all Portlandian tourists are hanging out here.

So beautiful and a must see when you are in Portland! It’s free and the view you have of the city is so amazing. I went in November so the roses were dying and or gone. I recommend to go during spring or summer when the roses are bloomed and full. I went when it was freezing and there were ice on the bushes and trees. I would imagine that it would take a while to observe each section, but since they were dead I was there only for a little bit. I like their Shakespeare Garden and their outdoor amphitheater. I plan to come back and see the roses when it is warmer

It isn’t comparable to the Japanese Garden across the street, but it was very beautiful! I was there a little too early to see the roses in full bloom, but I imagine it being breathtaking!

This store could be a lot bigger and have actual flower supplies, seeds, etc like a few people mentioned, but I think it’s completely fine. They have the usual magnets/​postcards/​etc at a high but not incredibly terrible price. And I don’t mind paying more because the place is completely staffed by volunteers.
Their shirts could be cooler but come on, it’s a rose garden.
My only hope is that most of their supplies/​little kinck knacks are local.

Cute lil store and I was hoping they would sell real flowers/​real roses given that it was located in the Rose Garden! Nope, they were selling somewhat life-​like roses in the front. Yes, they sold lots of rose related products, hand lotion, parfumes, candles, etc. There was a also a section for folks who enjoy gardening and they offer the hand lotion for gardeners to ease away the harsh elements. There were 3 staff that were seen on duty or they were friends of the store keeper considering that it was such a tiny store…

While this was a very tiny store, they did supply plenty of rose related items.
Of course outside they had potted roses, fakes roses and rose growing kits. Inside they had a nice variety of touristy type gifts. Perfumes, candles, soaps, shirts, hats, umbrellas, books, and food items. All with roses.
I ended up getting a lovely candle, rose of course, some taffy with roses on it, but didn’t taste like roses, and the cutest baby onesie with roses on it. All moderately priced too!

Cute — and very tiny — shop next to the International Rose Test Garden. Did I mention it’s tiny? Very tiny.
